Chapter 330 - 327: Ancestral Soul Baptism
Chapter 330: Chapter 327: Ancestral Soul Baptism
"It’s the Demon Dragon Clan!"
Elder Hao and the others all showed shocked expressions. The form that Ye Xuan had transformed into was unmistakably that of the Demon Dragon Clan, and the pulsations of his bloodline seemed unprecedentedly powerful!
These bloodline pulsations were exceptionally pure, so much so that even through the detection mirror, they could faintly sense them.
However, they couldn’t help but feel puzzled. The largest branch of the Demon Dragon Clan was right in the Sky Demon Mountain, and Ye Xuan had only joined later. Where did he come from?
Buzz, buzz.
In their field of vision, the entire bottom of the Demon Transformation Pool began to tremble, an immense power suddenly surged from the Array, and with this disturbance, an astonishing roar erupted from the depths of the pool.
Roar, roar!
The roaring of the beast went on and on, and from below the Array, a giant beast’s phantom suddenly shot forth, emitting an extremely ancient and robust vibration that seemed to come from the distant past.
"Is this... the Ancestral Spirit Baptism?"
Elder Hao and the others were completely astounded. This Beast Soul was no ordinary thing but the sealed Demon Beast Ancestor Soul of Sky Demon Mountain. Referred to as the Ancestor Soul, it was in fact the collection of many past Demon Clan’s powerful remnant souls and would only appear in the presence of an exceptionally outstanding bloodline. Yet, even when the Demon Dragon Young Master and Linglong had entered the Demon Transformation Pool before, they hadn’t managed to summon the Ancestor Soul. But Ye Xuan had succeeded.
There was no doubt that this meant Ye Xuan’s bloodline grade was even higher than those two!
Even among Innate Supreme bloodlines, there were levels of superiority. To receive the Ancestor Spirit’s baptism, one must be close to the presence of a higher-grade bloodline.
That would be, the bloodline of the Holy-grade Demon Clan rumored in legends!
"Terrifying, utterly terrifying. This scene, it reminds me of the distinguished daughter of heaven from over a decade ago."
Elder Hao couldn’t restrain the look of astonishment on his face before a hint of nostalgia emerged, saying,
"The one from over a decade ago? Elder Hao, are you referring to that person from the Ice Prison?" another elder asked with a change in his expression.
"That’s right, apart from her, who else could reach such a level? What surprises me is that now there’s someone else who has reached this step." Elder Hao took a deep breath, his face betraying his uncontrollable excitement.
"With such powerful bloodline, should we report this matter to those two Demon Venerables, letting them know?"
"Don’t be hasty in reporting. We should keep this matter secret for now."
Elder Hao’s eyes suddenly flashed with a sharp light as he shook his head.
"Why?" The elder asked, somewhat puzzled. Such an important matter should be quickly made known to more people.
"Our duty is to guard the Demon Transformation Pool, and other matters do not concern us. This matter is of great importance, the fewer people know about it the better. As for those two Demon Venerables, I’ll take care of it," said Elder Hao.
"Understood."
Among them, Elder Hao had the oldest qualifications, the highest seniority, and was of the same generation as those two great Demon Venerates. He was only a step away from being a Half-step Demon Venerable himself. Besides, they had always respected each other, so since he put it that way, naturally, they had no objections.
"What exactly is this youngster’s background..."
Elder Hao seemed to recognize a somewhat familiar aura from Ye Xuan. In the next moment, his pupils suddenly constricted, "Could it be..."
Elder Hao stared fixedly at Ye Xuan, as if he had realized something, then he revealed a grave expression, "So that’s how it is... No wonder..."
With an inexplicable glint appearing in his eyes, Elder Hao continued to gaze at the monitoring mirror.
In the field of vision, the enormous Demon Beast Ancestor Soul opened its mouth, which seemed like a black hole, and emitted a cylindrical beam of light that enveloped Ye Xuan who was in the center of the Array.
The beam was immensely powerful, and as it landed on Ye Xuan, it washed over him like flowing water. However, a significant portion of the power entered Ye Xuan’s body, turning into pure energy that surged throughout.
Under the infusion of this power, the Dragon Scales all over Ye Xuan’s body, as well as his pair of dragon wings and tail, started to shine with a more refined metallic luster, gradually shifting from black to a dark golden color.
As the last beam of light entered Ye Xuan’s body, the huge Beast Soul also returned to the Array and disappeared without a trace.
The violent fluctuations around Ye Xuan’s body also quickly subsided.
Sigh...
Exhaling a turbid breath, Ye Xuan’s eyes slowly opened as he stood up from the Demon Crystal ore.
Looking down at his attire, Ye Xuan also revealed a satisfied smile. Judging by this outfit, he must undoubtedly belong to the Dragon Clan. Albeit he had not yet reached the Holy-grade Bloodline, he was barely at the peak of the Innate Supreme Bloodline, which could be considered Quasi-Saint Bloodline.
However, even a Quasi-Saint Bloodline was probably an unparalleled existence in Sky Demon Mountain. Even the Demon Dragon Young Master and Linglong, who had the highest bloodline levels, were no match for Ye Xuan.
For Ye Xuan, the level of bloodlines wasn’t actually that important because the Bloodline Power of the Demon Clan could be enhanced postnatally. In the Heavenly Realm, many powerful beings of the Demon Clan did not have impressive innate bloodlines, often strengthening themselves by devouring the bloodline powers of others, becoming stronger as they aged.
Although Ye Xuan now possessed only a Quasi-Saint Bloodline, with just a bit more enhancement, he would break through the bottleneck, reaching a higher level.
Only Demon Clan members with a Holy-grade Bloodline had the potential to break through to Demon Saint. If the power of the bloodline was merely top-grade, the potential was basically only enough to break through to Demon Venerable. There would be no further possibilities. But to elevate a bloodline to Holy-grade status in a place like the Chaotic Sea Domain was, more or less, unfeasible.
"It’s time to head out."
With a leap, Ye Xuan soared up from the Demon Crystal and glided over the water. Meanwhile, the features such as dragon wings and dragon scales on his body receded, reverting him to human form. It was better for fewer people to know about his transformation; in fact, it would be best if no one knew. It was the safest option for him.
Unfortunately, what he did not know was that Elder Hao and others outside had observed the entire scene in the Demon Transformation Pool through a detection mirror, clearly, and distinctly.
Splash!
Breaking through the waves, Ye Xuan landed on the shore.
"Ye Xuan, it seems this trip to the Demon Transformation Pool has brought you considerable benefit," Elder Hao said with a smile walking toward Ye Xuan.
"Hehe, indeed, I’ve had some gains."
Ye Xuan nodded, invoking the Demon Dragon Bloodline within him. His body’s strength surged instantly. Before, his power was roughly equivalent to that of three and a half dragons, and now it had jumped to the strength of five dragons. Though he had yet to break through to the Fourth Grade Martial Sect realm, his strength had nonetheless made significant progress.
If he were to fully transform, his combat power could be enhanced further.
However, Ye Xuan had resolved not to reveal his true form unless absolutely necessary; otherwise, it might attract covetous attention.
Bloodline Power was the greatest treasure for the Demon Clan, more alluring than any precious natural resources. His current strength was not considerable. If he attracted the attention of an enemy at the level of a Half-step Demon Venerable, he would have no capacity to resist, let alone those who had already reached the ranks of the supreme Demon Venerates.
Elder Hao’s gaze lingered on Ye Xuan, a glint flickering in his eyes. After a moment of contemplation, he finally spoke with a particularly grave expression, "Now that you’re out, you should descend the mountain early. I have a piece of advice for you: always measure your own strength, know the extent of your reach. Before you are certain, hide yourself well. Otherwise, you may perish in vain."
Hearing these meaningful words, Ye Xuan was taken aback but then, his eyes became resolute. In the gaze he exchanged with Elder Hao, he seemed to perceive something, leading him to nod, "I’ll take this lesson to heart."
"Go on, then."
Elder Hao waved his hand.
"Farewell."
Ye Xuan bowed with his fists and then turned to leave.
"Elder Hao, you seem to have taken a special interest in this young fellow... If I’m not mistaken, it appears you hold back the news because you intend to protect him?" once Ye Xuan had left, another elder spoke up.
"Protect is not quite the word. I simply owed that Dragon Girl a favor in the past, and now it’s time to repay it," Elder Hao’s gaze shimmered, then he continued, "Moreover, one can’t always be locked up in the Ice Prison. Nearly two decades have passed; perhaps it’s time for her release."
"That won’t be easy. The one who imprisoned the Dragon Girl in the Ice Prison was the Demon Dragon Venerable. Her offense back then was nearly unforgivable and the most resentful over this matter is probably the Demon Dragon Venerable himself. If he learns of this child’s existence, I fear even survival will be difficult for the latter," the elder shook his head.
Elder Hao showed a trace of wistfulness, "Yes, but the future is uncertain for anyone. This youngster doesn’t seem destined for an early death. With his talents, perhaps it’s not unimaginable for him to reach the level of a Demon Venerate one day..."
...
At this moment, Ye Xuan had returned. He was still somewhat puzzled by what Elder Hao had said to him upon parting. It was evident that the other party must have guessed his true identity. Regardless of how the elder had come to know, the truth was evident.
Fortunately, Elder Hao didn’t seem to be an enemy; otherwise, he wouldn’t have deliberately given such advice.
With that thought, Ye Xuan couldn’t help feeling a chill of fear. It seemed he had been somewhat careless. Thankfully, this time he had not encountered an adversary; otherwise, it would have been bad because even he didn’t know who his true enemies were. From now on, he had to be even more cautious.
Yet Ye Xuan had a premonition that his enemy might be one of those two supreme Demon Venerables. Otherwise, neither Ye Mei nor Elder Hao would have been so exceedingly guarded when mentioning the past in front of him.
