Chapter 280: Chapter 277: Hall of Hundred Weapons
The ground continued to crack, and after an hour, a towering and antiquated ancient city fully emerged before everyone’s eyes.
The Floating Ancient City!
The mere four words were enough to make the disciples of the various major sects turn red with envy, driven to madness.
And now, with the Floating Ancient City fully revealed, the many dazzling prohibitions were also activated one after another, and the city’s gates appeared in their line of sight.
Before long, the bronze gates were blasted open, and the disciples from the various sects filed in, rushing into the Floating Ancient City.
"It’s time for us to make a move."
Ye Xuan looked to the other members of the Xuanbing Mansion. They couldn’t fall too far behind everyone else.
"Let’s go!"
By now, Qin Qi and Li Ziting’s injuries had mostly healed. Except for a few disciples who stayed behind, most of them started moving, stirring up a chorus of slicing winds as they went.
As the crowd surged forward wildly, the vast ancient city came into view, rapidly growing larger, and at the moment of entry, Ye Xuan took a deep breath of the ancient air, a look of eager anticipation flickering through his eyes.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
As those figures entered through the city gates, it seemed as if prohibitions were triggered at the entrance, emitting waves of distortion, from which a twisted spatial fluctuation was released.
When Ye Xuan passed through the city gates, he felt the space around him shifting, and then he found himself inside the city walls, but Nangong Yao and many other Xuanbing Mansion disciples who entered with him had vanished.
A vigilant look quickly surfaced in Ye Xuan’s eyes. True Qi subtly circulated within him as he started to scan his surroundings.
Within his sight, each hall appeared very tall and magnificent. Perhaps countless years ago, they would have been rich and resplendent places, but now they were eroded severely, appearing somewhat dilapidated.
Apart from him, it seemed no one else was around. It appeared the Floating Ancient City was far more vast than imagined. However, Ye Xuan had no fear, feeling quite at ease being the only one there.
And as Ye Xuan started moving, he could see the ground of the vast square was riddled with large and small trenches and cracks, as if it had been through countless battles. Among some of the dirt and sand, there were also visible fragments of broken weapons, exuding an air of desolation.
Eerie white bones had turned to dust in the long passage of time.
Ye Xuan released his Divine Sense to investigate the surrounding environment, even penetrating into the interior of the halls to inspect some prohibitions and search for treasures.
Along the way, Ye Xuan didn’t see a single soul, and many of the halls were mostly empty. Even if there were some items, they had corroded, turning to dust with the slightest touch.
Ye Xuan kept moving without much pause, rapidly making his way deeper into the ancient city. The area he was in should be the outer region, and these halls were unlikely to contain anything valuable.
An hour later, Ye Xuan arrived in front of a large hall. Above the entrance, the words "Hall of a Hundred Weapons" were inscribed, emanating a dim golden glow.
Ye Xuan’s gaze flickered, then he struck down on the hall’s prohibitions with his sword, breaking them open. A dull sound echoed, and the doors swung open.
As he entered the hall, Ye Xuan looked around only to see densely packed statues standing inside, each clad in armor and holding various types of weapons, exuding a formidable presence.
Furthermore, on both sides of the walls of the hall were many racks of weapons, filled with arms.
With a gesture from his hand, Ye Xuan drew over a treasured sword from one of the statues, but no sooner had it reached his hand, it shattered into several pieces and fell to the ground.
Although these weapons might have been high-grade when forged, appearing as if they were still usable, they had actually lost all their spirituality and were inferior to even ordinary weaponry.
Walking through the pathway between the statues, at the end of the passage stood three even larger and more imposing statues.
Three stone statues stood prominently, one holding a knife, another wielding an axe, and at the center, an individual brandishing a long spear. All emitted an incredibly formidable aura, cloaked in heavy armor, standing tall like guardian deities at the deepest end of the hall, vast and majestic.
Ye Xuan glanced at the three stone statues, and then his eyes slightly brightened. Unlike the weapons and equipment on the other statues, the equipment adorning these three seemed to be of Heavenly Grade. Although a significant amount of their spiritual essence had dissipated, and their power had greatly diminished, an outer layer of prohibition had prevented the complete loss of their spiritual essence.
After scanning them briefly, his gaze finally settled on the central statue’s hands, which were adorned with a pair of gloves that looked like transparent silk. Despite their inconspicuous appearance, Ye Xuan could sense that these gloves were probably the most valuable items among the three statues.
"Shasha."
Just as this thought crossed Ye Xuan’s mind, a subtle sound of footsteps came from not far behind. He immediately raised his head and saw dozens of figures advancing toward the depths of the hall from the corridor behind him.
The disciples entering the hall clearly did not all belong to the same sect, but the group numbered around thirty or forty, among them several strong experts with formidable auras, comparable to the levels of Zhuo Yanyun and Li Ziting. Moreover, since each major Third Grade sect placed great importance on these disciples, it was difficult to ensure they didn’t have any trump cards.
"These... are all Heavenly Grade equipment!"
After the crowd arrived, someone exclaimed with astonishment. Heavenly Grade weapons were generally only afforded to top disciples and elders of sects. In Third Grade sects, Heavenly Grade weapons were even rarer—let alone now, with three sets of armor available.
The value of Heavenly Grade armor exceeded that of weapons by no small margin.
However, when the crowd noticed Ye Xuan, they simultaneously revealed a hint of shock in their eyes, quickly becoming cautious.
Ye Xuan’s earlier defeat of Tuoba Ye and his overcoming of Sikong Xin had been seen clearly by most. Now, Ye Xuan had undoubtedly become a major threat. Originally strangers, the people not of the same sect immediately united against a common foe upon seeing Ye Xuan.
Witnessing this, Ye Xuan felt somewhat helpless. If the current crowd had been a scattering of individuals, he could easily handle them, but their unity posed a challenge.
Even Xue Wuheng and Sikong Xin would not dare to confront thirty or forty young experts at once, unless one could kill all at once. Otherwise, it would mean offending all the sects present.
"There’s no need to be nervous, everyone. After all, I arrived first. Of these three sets of equipment, I’ll only take the central one. The rest you can divide amongst yourselves. How does that sound?"
Ye Xuan didn’t wish for further conflict, especially since he couldn’t guarantee a safe exit from an attack by so many, nor was he willing to exert such effort for some inferior Heavenly Grade equipment.
What he wanted was just the pair of silk gloves; everything else was secondary—unnecessary luxuries. And as for Heavenly Grade armor, it was cumbersome, affecting speed and agility. He already possessed the more practical and convenient Secret Silver Armor, which offered defense not inferior to Heavenly Grade armor. There was no need to be redundant.
Hearing this, many were taken aback, but they continued to remain vigilant. If Ye Xuan was being truthful, it would be more than ideal. Despite their numbers, they recognized that relying solely on a numerical advantage to trap Ye Xuan was not a practical strategy. Even if they were willing to risk their lives and severely injure or kill Ye Xuan, more than half of them would surely perish.
With Ye Xuan’s strength, taking just one set of armor was a sign of genuine compromise—who would want to stubbornly fight to the death?
"Of course, my word is my bond," Ye Xuan nodded, then reached out towards the central statue, shattering it with a palm strike before stripping it of its gear. After removing the equipment, he intended to leave. However, out of the crowd suddenly came a chilling voice.
"Wait."
The one who stepped forward was a gaunt man in black clothes. He stared at Ye Xuan with a gloomy expression, saying, "You may take the weapons, but the armor must stay behind. There are so many of us here and only three sets of equipment. Isn’t it rather greedy for you to take an entire set by yourself? It’s always good to know when to stop."
He had gathered from Ye Xuan’s earlier concession that Ye Xuan must be wary of offending the sects behind them, daunted by the prospect of making enemies of so many powers. After all, if that was the case, then they had nothing to fear—why not try to squeeze an extra benefit from Ye Xuan.
Upon hearing these words, Ye Xuan sneered coldly, seeing his earlier step back as a sign of fear and aversion in their eyes.
"If you want the armor, come over here and take it," Ye Xuan held up the set of Heavenly Grade armor and waved it in front of the man in black, smiling. Even if he couldn’t use the armor himself, he could give it to a friend or sell it—why should he give it away to others?
Seeing Ye Xuan’s gesture, the man in black, of course, did not dare to go and take it. His eyes darkened, and he said sternly, "Ye Xuan! You’ve already offended Evil Wind Cave Heaven. I advise you not to make too many enemies, or it won’t end well for you."
"My fate is not for someone like you to decide."
Ye Xuan stored the armor into his Qiankun Ring, then walked away without giving the man another look.
The man in black’s eyes harbored a sullen darkness. As Ye Xuan took a few steps away, a sudden surge of aggressive energy burst forth from his eyes, then he abruptly flung his sleeve. Black True Qi was attached to three blood-red poison darts which shot forward with the speed of lightning, mercilessly aiming for Ye Xuan’s back!
