Chapter 197: Chapter 194: Return to the Sect

When Ye Xuan was setting out to return to Heavenly Martial Hall, in the capital of Great Xia Kingdom, atop the towering city walls, two ghost-like shadows appeared out of nowhere.

The direction the two figures in black robes were gazing towards was exactly where Ye Xuan had departed from, a trace of chilling intent also flashed across their eyes.

"This young man is returning to Heavenly Martial Hall alone. This journey is the perfect opportunity to get rid of him. Why don’t we take this chance to completely finish him off?" one of the figures in black spoke up coldly, this person being the same one who had appeared on top of the tower that day.

"There’s no need," another more imposing figure in black shook his head and said, "This Ye Xuan has many secrets on him. Not only does he possess the Blood Demon Body Sacrifice Skill, but the Yin Spirit Ghost Pearl has also fallen into his hands. I reckon even if we join forces, it would be very difficult to kill him, and we would only end up startling the snake."

"So we just let him return to Heavenly Martial Hall like that? He’s a major threat that can’t be ignored," the first person furrowed his brows.

"No worries, there’s no need for us to take action. Someone else will deal with Ye Xuan. I can assure you, he won’t live much longer."

The imposing figure in black cracked a sinister smile.

"Oh? Then I shall wait and see."

The first man appeared surprised, but then relaxed his eyebrows, trusting that the other would not speak without cause. Since he spoke thus, there must be precision in his words. However, it was unknown who their Lord Bright King would send to deal with this youngster.

Could there really be someone more suitable than the Heavenly Demon General standing beside him?

Since the Heavenly Demon General spoke with such confidence, it must mean he was very sure of it.

...

This return to Heavenly Martial Hall, Ye Xuan did not summon the Flood Dragon, but instead rode a fast horse. Although much slower, he was not in a rush to return to Heavenly Martial Hall, so a few days’ delay on this road didn’t matter.

Three days later, Ye Xuan finally arrived back at Heavenly Martial Hall, and upon seeing the majestic mountain gate, he couldn’t help but feel a surge of emotions, but after pausing for a moment, Ye Xuan stepped through the gate.

The disciples guarding the gate naturally recognized Ye Xuan, and news of his return quickly spread throughout the Sect.

"Senior Brother Ye Xuan has returned!"

The news of Ye Xuan’s return swiftly spread through all four sub-halls, especially among the disciples of Yang Hall, who became extremely excited. They still didn’t know that Ye Xuan had escaped his predicament since only a few were privy to the messages Ye Xuan had sent back, kept confidential for fear of Ye Xuan encountering danger outside.

So even Ling Qianxue was unaware of the news that Ye Xuan was still alive.

Ye Xuan’s return created quite a stir, and by the time he arrived, a considerable number of disciples had already gathered in the plaza of Yang Hall.

"Junior Brother Ye Xuan, you truly are blessed by the heavens. I knew you would be able to escape the danger."

Lu Yan walked over to Ye Xuan from the front ranks of the disciples of Yang Hall, his face also showing a trace of amazement. He hadn’t expected that Ye Xuan could return safely from such a desperate situation, when any other disciple would likely have perished.

"I just got lucky," Ye Xuan said with a faint smile, "otherwise, I really would have ended up as a resentful spirit underground."

From Lu Yan and others, Ye Xuan also learned that on the day the space beneath Wanxiang Mountain collapsed, Ling Qianxue and Leng Ruofeng were both safe. However, Ling Qianxue was severely injured, and although she didn’t want to leave, she had no choice but to return to Heavenly Martial Hall eventually.

Later, Murong Yun also led a team to Wanxiang Mountain, but the place had collapsed so badly that searching was utterly hopeless. After a fruitless search period, they had no choice but to give up.

Murong Yun, powerful though he was, was only at the level of a Third Grade Martial Sect. Moving mountains and overturning seas was something only those at the Martial Venerate Level could accomplish.

"Brother Ye!"

After a while, disciples from other halls also arrived. Among them was Tang Xiaoyan from Yin Hall, who couldn’t help but run over to him the instant she saw Ye Xuan. Before everyone, she rushed into Ye Xuan’s embrace and then started to choke up.

"There, there, don’t cry. I’m back, aren’t I?"

Ye Xuan gently patted the back of the woman in his arms, surprised himself at how deep her feelings for him were. Everyone hoped nothing bad would happen to him, but to be moved to tears upon seeing him — was she the only one?

"Brother Ye, it’s so good you’re back unharmed. If Senior Sister Ling knew you were safe, she would be overjoyed. Right after she got back, she was crying out to go rescue you every day." Feeling the intense gaze of those around her, Tang Xiaoyan’s cheeks flushed, seemingly aware that her actions were a bit impulsive. She then stepped back from Ye Xuan’s embrace, her eyes red as she spoke.

"Oh?"

Ye Xuan’s eyes lit up, surprised that his usually icy senior sister had such a side to her.

"But in the end, we stopped her. She hadn’t recovered from her injuries, and even Hall Master Murong couldn’t find you. It would have been pointless for her to go." Tang Xiaoyan spoke and then saw a woman in white approaching from a distance, whispering softly to him.

Following Tang Xiaoyan’s gaze, Ye Xuan saw the beautiful woman in white — indeed Ling Qianxue — but noticed a strikingly handsome, unfamiliar young man in purple robes standing beside her, walking shoulder to shoulder as if they were quite familiar.

"Who is this?"

Ye Xuan frowned slightly, not out of discomfort, but in surprise at Ling Qianxue, who usually kept others at a great distance, walking together with a strange man.

"That is the senior brother from Qian Hall, the leader of the four True Disciples, Long Zhiyang." Tang Xiaoyan whispered to Ye Xuan.

"The leader of the four True Disciples?"

Ye Xuan’s eyes moved, realizing why there was one True Disciple missing; the senior brother from Qian Hall made up the four.

Ling Qianxue approached, her gaze only pausing briefly on Ye Xuan before shifting to Tang Xiaoyan. She remained silent, her expression barely flickering, maintaining her usual coldness. Compared to Ye Xuan, she seemed more interested in Tang Xiaoyan.

Seeing Ling Qianxue act this way, Ye Xuan was silently astonished. He had saved her several times back at Wanxiang Mountain, and this was how she returned the sentiment? Could it be that she had seen Tang Xiaoyan rush into his arms, and was jealous?

However, Ye Xuan quickly dismissed this thought as absurd. It was probably just his imagination.
