Chapter 342: Since everything went well, there’s no point in postponing it

In a spacious, dark and stuffy underground room under the building of the trading house, there were numerous cages in which creatures of various races languished.

The room had two entrances: one main, the other — a spare. From time to time, the main door opened, and more collared creatures were brought into the room, which were locked in cages corresponding to their race.

And once again, the main door opened again, and the employees of the trading house — two—meter-tall creatures with four arms, dressed in black masks – dragged in a new prisoner.

“Hey, hey, look!” one of the prisoners called out, drawing the attention of the others. “Doesn’t this new guy look like those white people?”

“Oh!” said the creatures, who did not look like humans.

“It really looks like it,” someone said.

Those about whom the first prisoner was talking, who were sitting in thought with their eyes closed, suddenly became animated and looked with interest at the prisoner who was being taken to their cage.

An employee approached the cage and hit it hard with a heavy stick. Everyone inside the cage saw this and immediately stepped back, trying to stay away from the entrance.

“Hehe,” the employee’s hoarse laugh rang out. He opened the cage door and, not caring about the new prisoner, casually threw him inside, after which he immediately closed the door.

“Ah!” groaned Idan as he was thrown into the cage.

“Damn!” he cursed, getting up and holding his head.

His thoughts were confused.

“As expected, they’ve read my memories, — Idan thought, and then smiled. “System, you’re amazing! Who would have thought that it would be possible to trick them by showing them a memory from the ascension trial rather than our real memories.”

“Although we managed to deceive them, the process itself was not pleasant.”

Shaking his head and squatting down, he looked around and saw the other prisoners in the cell where he had been thrown. And instead of despair, a smile played on his face.

“Ha ha ha! I found you!” exclaimed Idan, attracting the attention of his cellmates. To his surprise, they turned out to be exactly the awakened ones who had been abducted and whom he and Arabel were supposed to rescue.

“Who would have thought that Erza would ‘help’ find them?” thought Idan with a touch of irony. Then he raised his hand to the collar, touched it lightly, and lowered it again.

“It’s not the time yet,” Idan said, and then he began to study his cellmates closely, who in turn stared at him intently.

There were many young people among them, and Idan barely recognized the guild leaders of the Wings of Freedom and Red Sails. They have changed a lot in these seven days. All the awakened ones looked tired and run-down.

There were only a few girls, and no matter how hard Idan tried, he couldn’t find Milla and Milena among them. It made him frown.

“Where are Milla and Milena?” he asked bluntly, looking at the others.

“Huh?” they were surprised to hear the familiar names.

“Are you from Earth?” one of them asked, while some immediately realized where he was from.

“They’re not here,” replied the leader of the Wings of Freedom guild. “Shorty was no longer with us when we were picked up, but Milena was taken with her by the one who brought us here.”

“Erza?” asked Idan, and upon hearing the name of the black-haired and domineering woman, everyone froze and then nodded.

“Yes, that’s her.”

“Do you have access to your Systems?” Idan asked. The Awakened Ones looked at him and shook their heads negatively.

“That’s how it is, — Idan mentally noted, then, finding a secluded corner away from the others, he sat down and began to think.

“There are three days left before the auction starts, and strangely enough, it just coincides with the deadline of our assignment.”

Then Idan began to examine his body and things carefully.

“I’ve lost the Ghost Mask and the pendant Sierra gave me,” he thought sadly. “But most importantly, the worst was avoided.”

Although there was nothing visible on his finger, Idan could still feel the presence of the ring that served as the key to his and Arabel’s shared vault.

“Fortunately, apart from the collar, no other restrictions were used on me,” Idan touched the collar again, pretending to study it.

“It seems like Erza completely trusts the collars’ abilities. She probably doesn’t even suspect that we deliberately fell into her trap, being prepared for this. Most likely, she convinced herself that it was her own doing based on her decision to leave Arslan and let our guard down.”

Ignoring the stares of the other awakened ones, as well as the stares of other beings, Idan closed his eyes.

“System, are you here?” Idan called in his mind.

[Yes, Host.]

“Since everything went well, there’s no point in postponing it,” after saying that, Idan recalled the conversation with Eulalia that took place before he and Arabel teleported to this world.

“Idan, — Eulalia said, coming up to them with Eva.

“Here, take this,” she said, holding out the magic bag. “While Eva was running an errand in Usuria, she grabbed some of the Master’s things and searched for the resources you asked us to find.”

Arabel and Idan were pleasantly surprised and gladly accepted the bag.

“Eva didn’t manage to find everything, but she managed to find and acquire something,” Eulalia added.

She expected her younger companions to be disappointed when they heard this, but to her delight, Idan and Arabel did not lose heart, but on the contrary, they were glad to receive some of the resources they needed.

“Besides, after your last visit, when it became known about your Spirit Form, Master immediately asked me to tell Eva to look for the sources of Fire and Ice. And Eva managed to acquire several such sources,” Eulalia continued to delight the couple.

As Eulalia had predicted, the bag contained not only the necessary resources, but also several fire and ice crystals.

“Thank you so much, Eulalia!” Arabel exclaimed with sincere joy, hugging Eulalia. She reciprocated her feelings, glad that she was able to provide at least some support.

“Thank you too, Eva!”— without hesitation, Arabel hugged Eva as well. She, somewhat surprised, repeated the movement of her master and hugged Arabel in return.

“Thank you, senior, and you too, Eva!” said Idan, putting the bag in the storage.

“I am very glad that I was able to help you in some way,” Eulalia said with a sincere smile and wished goodbye: “Good luck to you and take care of yourself!”

“System, purchase the missing materials to improve the storage space,” Idan ordered.

[1,875 System Points are required to purchase the missing resources. Continue?]

“Yes,” Idan replied confidently, having already discussed the matter with Arabel in advance and come to an agreement.

[1,875 System Points deducted. All resources have been moved to storage. There are 339 System Points left.]

[Ding! It was found that all materials for improving the quality of the storage space have been collected. Improve your storage space?]

[Yes] [No]

Idan chose [Yes] without hesitation and with some hope.
