Chapter 475: Chapter 475: The Flying Needle Exterminates the Swarm of Snakes

The Ice Demon Elder turned his head and looked back, his face an ashen blue.

He saw that Ye Xuan was rapidly catching up, closing the distance between them swiftly! Relying on speed, he could never outrun Ye Xuan and was bound to be caught sooner or later.

Feeling the deadly intent from Ye Xuan, the Ice Demon Elder gritted his teeth and once again took out the short flute that had shot poison needles earlier.

However, this time, it wasn’t aimed at Ye Xuan but was placed in the Ice Demon Elder’s mouth as he began to play.

In an instant, the eerie sound of the flute resonated, filled with strange rhythms, grating and harsh to the ear.

"Ssshhh... Ssshhh..."

Suddenly, from the nearby bushes, there came rustling sounds, as if many people were walking on fallen leaves.

At the same time, as Ye Xuan pursued his attacker, his pupils suddenly narrowed, a trace of gravity flashing in his eyes.

He saw poison snakes in the grass around him, of all different colors, darting out like a tide.

Hiss! Hiss!

The sound of snake hisses reverberated, at least a hundred, each one flicking their crimson tongues, continuously slithering his way.

A gleam flashed in Ye Xuan’s eyes, knowing that it was the Ice Demon Elder, controlling these snakes with the sound of the flute, no doubt his method of summoning poisonous snakes.

At this moment, under the strange notes of the flute, all the snakes were under control, surging wave after wave from the underbrush, encircling him.

Seeing Ye Xuan surrounded by the snakes, the Ice Demon Elder let out a sigh of relief, putting away the short flute, but he couldn’t help feeling a twinge of pain.

He had painstakingly raised these poison snakes, and now to stall Ye Xuan and facilitate his own escape, he had no choice but to sacrifice them.

He knew that the snakes could hardly trouble Ye Xuan and would only be an obstruction, but to deal with them would also take some time, enough for him to make his getaway.

Indeed, Ye Xuan didn’t dare to pursue any further, not because he was afraid of the snakes, but because he couldn’t take the risk!

There were too many snakes before him, and if any of them were to bite Su Yumo, who was unconscious, it could threaten her life.

Therefore, he had to exterminate all the snakes and nip the danger in the bud.

Ye Xuan took a silver needle from his bosom.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, he directly shot at the mass of snakes!

The snakes kept coming towards him, baring their fangs, but they were immediately pierced through the head by a silver needle and died on the spot.

Whiz, whiz, whiz, whiz.

Standing amidst the snakes, Ye Xuan’s hands moved like a butterfly fluttering through flowers, as one silver needle after another shot out.

The flying needles annihilated the snakes!

Any that got within a zhang (approx. 3.3 meters) of him were shot through by the silver needles!

Soon, a vacuum circle formed in front of him, and beyond that circle lay a pile of snake corpses.

The number of snakes decreased, but the remaining ones still pushed forward fearlessly, unafraid of death.

Throwing out four more silver needles, piercing the heads of four snakes, Ye Xuan reached into his pocket and frowned – he was out of silver needles.

Glancing at the seven or eight remaining snakes, Ye Xuan simply clenched his fists and stepped forward.

He sent surges of energy into the ground, pummeling it violently, grinding those seven or eight snakes into minced meat.

He dusted off his hands, looking at the ground strewn with snake corpses, his gaze cold and stern.

By this time, the Ice Demon Elder had long since burrowed into the dense forest, out of sight. The old reptile was cunning indeed; next time Ye Xuan encountered him, he wouldn’t be so lucky.

Just as Ye Xuan was about to turn around and head back, his pupils abruptly contracted!

A crimson flower-patterned snake had slithered to the bare feet of Su Yumo, opening its mouth ready to bite her smooth, fair calves.

Whoosh!

Ye Xuan dashed forward like a sharp sword, but he was too far away to make it in time for the rescue.

Howl!

Just in the nick of time, Ahua, who was crouching there, suddenly leaped up, a roar that shook the forest thundering out as its sharp leopard claws struck down.

The crimson flower-patterned snake, under Ahua’s paw, was pressed against the ground, turning to bite back at Ahua.

Ahua reacted swiftly, its mouth tearing the flower-patterned snake into two pieces, which writhed and twisted on the ground.

But it wasn’t going to die immediately; the front half of its body continued to open its mouth attempting to bite.

Ye Xuan arrived in time, grabbing the snake at its "seven inches" and with a slight exertion of strength, crushed its heart, ensuring its death.

Ye Xuan nonchalantly threw away the serpent’s corpse, patted Ahua’s big head, and laughed, "Ahua, well done!"

Ahua held its head high in pride, wagging its tail as it strutted back and forth, clearly pleased with itself.

Approaching Su Yumo and seeing that she was mostly unharmed, Ye Xuan felt relieved and sat down nearby to wait.

...

Su Yumo hummed softly, slightly opening her eyes, a touch befuddled as she rubbed her head and scanned her surroundings. Then her gaze settled on Ye Xuan, a sparkle of brightness appearing in her beautiful eyes as she asked softly, "Ye Xuan, where am I...?"

"You’re dead, this is Hell. You fell from a hundred-meter cliff, and your soul was hooked away to the Underworld by Oxhead and Horseface," Ye Xuan said.

"What? I’m dead... How is that possible?"

Su Yumo, her mind not yet fully comprehending, believed Ye Xuan’s frightful words and said with a face full of horror, "Ye Xuan, am I really in the Underworld?"

"Indeed, you’re in Hell," Ye Xuan responded.

"Eh? That’s not right... If I’m dead and in Hell, how come I can see you? And Ahua’s here too?"

Su Yumo realized what was happening, becoming more lucid as she pieced things together and, puffing up with anger, said, "You’re good, aren’t you, dead Ye Xuan? You dare to play tricks on me?"

"Hahaha... If I don’t tease you, then who? Calling you gullible is an understatement, you actually believed that! Seriously, it boggles the mind." Ye Xuan laughed teasingly, his mischievous demeanor infuriating Su Yumo.

"You’re the silly one! Wasn’t I just confused from the fall?" Su Yumo retorted indignantly and asked, "Ye Xuan, I fell from the mountain; how come I’m completely unharmed?"

"Who says you’re unharmed? Didn’t you crack your head up, turning dull-witted?" Ye Xuan said mockingly, laughing.

"You’re still going on, asking for a beating, aren’t you?"

Su Yumo’s eyebrows were inverted like willow leaves, showing a gesture as if she was about to strike.

"Alright, you fell off the cliff, sustaining broken bones all over, paralyzed from the waist down! Fortunately, a Divine Doctor happened by and treated you. It’s as simple as that! Now, don’t you feel immensely grateful to that Divine Doctor, so moved that you’re a blubbering mess, and thus, you want to repay such great kindness by offering yourself? Don’t worry, I’m quite familiar with that Divine Doctor. If you’re really smitten with him, I can pass along the message for you!" Ye Xuan rattled on, sounding very earnest.

"Stop the nonsense! I know that Divine Doctor is you, and it was you who healed me." Su Yumo rolled her eyes, finding his self-praise distasteful.

"Wow! You guessed it that easily? No fun at all," Ye Xuan pouted.

Su Yumo glared at Ye Xuan and frowned, "Ye Xuan, did I really sustain such serious injuries?"

"No, you just had some minor fractures! Didn’t you think if the fall had really been that severe, you’d recover this quickly?"

Ye Xuan shrugged and advised, "Don’t worry, I’ve already set your bones right. Just don’t engage in strenuous activities for the next couple of days, so they can heal properly, preventing any complications."
