Chapter 470 Falling off the Cliff
Chapter 470: Chapter 470 Falling off the Cliff
Seeing Hua Bao’s human-like "pitiful" expression, Su Yumo grew even fonder of it and couldn’t help but say, "Ye Xuan, Hua Bao is already lying down, it’s very obedient, why are you still hitting it?"
"This beast is used to being wild outside. Without a lesson, it won’t learn its manners," Ye Xuan said with a smile, straightened up, and turned to Su Yumo, "Yumo, get on quickly. As long as I’m here, Hua Bao won’t dare to do anything."
"I’ll try..."
Su Yumo nodded slightly, still a bit tentative, then slowly approached Hua Bao before taking a deep breath and carefully straddled it.
Once she was seated firmly, she adjusted her breathing and an expression of excitement and exhilaration appeared on her pretty face. She had ridden on trains, cars, and roller coasters... but this was her first time using a cheetah as a mode of transportation, which was both thrilling and nerve-wracking.
"Sit tight, we’re about to take off."
Ye Xuan reminded Su Yumo, then slapped Hua Bao’s big head and commanded, "Hua Bao, follow me and move forward, let’s go!"
Hua Bao let out a couple of "ow-woos" in response to Ye Xuan, then stood up on all fours, bearing Su Yumo and catching up with Ye Xuan as they marched forward together.
"Wow, Ye Xuan, it really is carrying me around, this is so fun."
Su Yumo’s face was alight with excitement, looking around from atop Hua Bao’s back, appearing much like a child who had just found a new toy.
At this moment, she was very glad to have followed Ye Xuan here. Otherwise, when would she have experienced something this fun? Riding a cheetah was something she never would have dared to even dream about in her lifetime.
"By the way, Ye Xuan, why do you call it Hua Bao?"
After being happy for a while, Su Yumo curiously asked.
"It’s just a big spotted cat, so I call it Hua Bao," Ye Xuan casually said with a laugh.
At first, when he was taming this big cheetah, it wasn’t as gentle as it looked now.
This cheetah was wild and unmanageable, plus it was extremely hungry and wanted to make a prey of him!
Using absolute force, Ye Xuan fought a tough battle with the big cheetah and eventually tamed it thoroughly, making it as docile as a big domestic cat. Hence, he named it Hua Bao.
"Oh... So how did you tame it?"
Su Yumo blinked twice and continued to inquire.
"Hehe, haven’t I told you? Brother is mighty and imposing, naturally exuding the aura of a conqueror. With just a shiver of my mighty frame, it got so scared that it wet itself and submitted to me," Ye Xuan bragged with a conceited expression, laughing with his nostrils flaring to the sky.
"Total bull! Do you think you’re a tiger to scare it like that?" Su Yumo laughed behind her hand.
"Hey! What’s a tiger in this? Even if a tiger came along, I’d still subdue it and get a Hua Bao number two for company," Ye Xuan shrugged nonchalantly.
Su Yumo was speechless.
Instinctively, she thought Ye Xuan was bragging, but on second thought, she realized it might not be impossible for him! After all, even a tiger couldn’t make a cheetah this docile and obedient. Could he be even more formidable than a tiger?
The thought made her eyes glitter with fascination, and she asked in astonishment, "You don’t understand animal language, do you?"
"Eh, you know about animal language?"
Surprised, Ye Xuan looked at Su Yumo and answered, "That’s right, I learned animal language from my master, so I can communicate with Hua Bao."
Indeed, Ye Xuan had learned animal language, but because he had slacked off, he hadn’t mastered it completely. However, he had other ways of communicating with animals which provided similar results to animal language.
"Your master is amazing!"
Su Yumo exclaimed in admiration. To be able to teach such an incredible student, Ye Xuan’s master must certainly be very impressive!
As master, so is the disciple.
"Of course," Ye Xuan did not deny it. He continued to lead Hua Bao forward in search of the remaining herbs.
Time slipped through their fingers like sand, and an hour and a half quickly passed.
After searching most of the mountain, Ye Xuan had almost gathered all the herbs he needed, and now only one last wild Yellow Ginseng was left to complete his collection.
At this point, the two of them arrived at the edge of a gorge. Ye Xuan scanned the area and immediately noticed a familiar plant right down the slope ahead.
"Found it!"
The spark in Ye Xuan’s eyes flared—the plant was indeed the wild Yellow Ginseng he needed.
"Yumo, I’m going to gather the herbs. You stay here and wait for me. Let Hua Bao stay with you, and don’t run off," he called back to instruct Su Yumo before quickly dashing down the slope to dig up the Yellow Ginseng.
Su Yumo watched Ye Xuan leave to collect the herbs and climbed down from Hua Bao’s back to take in the beautiful scenery of the valley, her face reflecting pure rapture.
Just then, Su Yumo’s gaze was caught by an exceptionally beautiful flower on the edge of the cliff, bathed in sunlight and shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow, which instantly entranced her.
"What a beautiful flower!"
Su Yumo exclaimed, her eyes gleaming. She had never seen such a beautiful flower before—it seemed straight out of a fairy tale, stunningly gorgeous.
After a moment’s hesitation, Su Yumo approached the cliff to get a closer look at the flower, reassuring herself that she was just looking, not leaving the spot.
Finally, she reached the edge of the cliff and lay down to avoid falling. Slowly inching closer, she found she could almost pick the flower!
"So beautiful..."
Lost in admiration, Su Yumo got an idea to transplant this beautiful flower and take it back with her. By keeping it in her bedroom, she could enjoy its sight every day.
Putting thought into action, she braced one hand on the cliff while the other dug into the ground, trying to uproot the flower to take it home.
Suddenly, the ground under her collapsed with a loud crash, perhaps from loosening the nearby earth.
A large chunk of dirt broke away entirely from the cliff.
Holding the flower, Su Yumo screamed in horror as she and the earth fell.
At the same time, Ye Xuan finished collecting the wild Yellow Ginseng, a broad smile on his face as he stood up.
"Done! Time to head back home."
He tossed the wild Yellow Ginseng into his basket, preparing to pack up his tools to return when he suddenly heard a woman’s shrill scream:
"Ah—"
His face instantly grew grim—the voice was coming from behind him where Su Yumo was. Without a second thought, he slung the basket over his back and dashed back.
Fortunately, a large outcropping of rock below had caught Su Yumo, preventing her fall off the cliff.
Lying unconscious on the rock, her eyes closed tightly.
Ye Xuan quickly arrived, leaping onto the boulder and immediately examining Su Yumo’s condition. Finding she had only minor fractures and a bump on her forehead, he was relieved there was no serious harm.
He immediately administered emergency treatment for Su Yumo, first stopping the bleeding, then setting her bones, and using Strange Energy to repair and fuse them. Then he massaged Su Yumo’s head to relieve the concussion to avoid any lasting injuries.
