Chapter 2518: Chapter 2508 Traitor
This prison cell of Long Yan is not empty; usually, it houses five people, but somehow, there are six people in this cell, originally four people who were in the cell along with Long Yan and Tian Wu.
“Hey, kid, are you two new here?”
A man who looked like the leader of the cell asked the two, while the original cellmates surrounded the leader like lackeys, making Long Yan want to laugh.
“Yes.”
Long Yan nodded, and Tian Wu, without noticing, moved two steps behind Long Yan. He was just here to complete his task and had no intention of causing trouble.
“Do you know the rules here?”
Seeing Long Yan acting like a greenhorn, the leader had already made a plan in his heart but still showed a hint of a cold smile. They had been in this cell long enough to figure out the rules: as long as no one dies, anything goes.
“No idea.”
Long Yan found an empty bed and lay on it casually. The man, who looked like the boss, sneered.
“Then today, we’ll make sure you find out.”
He then signaled to his lackeys, and seeing their boss’s look, the three henchmen charged at Long Yan. At least in this cell, Brother Qing was the real boss. They hadn’t been here long, but how did they get caught? It was also just a coincidence.
Luo Xiang, who was in charge of their transportation, had a bad temper, which might have flared due to sudden illness, causing him to personally kill four men during the last transport. As they were short by four people, Brother Qing showed up.
In the small town, many fugitives from other places hid, and Brother Qing was one of them. Hungry and desperate in the Demon Beast Mountain Range, he reverted to his old trade: robbery. But this was perhaps the most failed attempt in their lives because they targeted Luo Ye.
And so, the four of them ended up here, filling the gaps left by the four men Luo Ye had taken out. Originally, there were five of them, but one escaped quickly and didn’t get caught, so the remaining four brothers were captured.
Watching the henchmen charging at him, Long Yan unhurriedly stood up from the bed. It was clear that these four guys had some skills, but they were only on par with Earth-level Mercenaries. They couldn’t withstand more than two moves from Long Yan as he easily took down all three lackeys.
“This…”
Brother Qing, seeing Long Yan, was a bit panicked. They initially thought this young and frail boy would be easy to bully, so they planned to have some fun at Long Yan’s expense, but they didn’t expect that Long Yan would take down all their men in the blink of an eye. Even getting up from the ground was a struggle for them.
Of course, this was because Long Yan held back. If he had not, the person he’d taken down might have ended up with bones shattered into countless pieces.
Brother Qing now understood that the seemingly frail young man on the bed was not someone his four men could mess with. He silently helped his brothers up, and they all kept their distance from Long Yan.
Tian Wu, too, was amazed at Long Yan. He didn’t expect the person he was watching to possess such impressive martial arts. This was a big deal, so he thought of finding an opportunity to pass this information out.
Long Yan, of course, noticed Tian Wu’s small movements. He lay on the bed with his eyes closed but slowly spoke.
“Since you four won’t provoke me, I won’t bother you either. But there might be a traitor in this room. What do you want to do?”
After saying this, both Tian Wu and the other four in the cell were dumbfounded. What did this kid mean? What was he implying by saying there was a traitor among them?
However, Brother Qing, being a former bandit, quickly understood once he was reminded by Long Yan. So, the four of them surrounded Tian Wu. After all, if it wasn’t for running into Luo Ye, the five of them might still be living their lives freely outside, but now, they were reduced to experimental subjects.
“Brothers, don’t believe this Heavenly Punishment kid. How does he know there’s a traitor? I grew up in the small town and was just caught by them.”
Brother Qing paid no heed to Tian Wu’s words. They were bandits, how could they know who lived in the small town? Adhering to the principle of ‘better safe than sorry’, they vented their long-held captivity frustration on Tian Wu by cornering him and beating him up.
Despite being an Earth-level Mercenary, Tian Wu was no match for the four of them combined, not daring to fight back, especially with Long Yan lying on the bed. He couldn’t gauge Long Yan’s strength, so he just endured the beating.
The rules of the prison were known to Brother Qing and his men; they couldn’t cause death, so they merely released their frustration and let Tian Wu go. The four then positioned themselves around Long Yan, glaring at Tian Wu, ready to beat him again if he made any wrong move.
“So, tell us, what is the strength here in this stronghold?”
Long Yan didn’t open his eyes, just asked from the bed. Tian Wu, looking wronged, shrank aside, genuinely appearing to be a whipped dog. Though Brother Qing enjoyed the beating, seeing Tian Wu in such a state made him feel something was off. He wanted to ask Long Yan, but recalling Long Yan’s earlier prowess, he swallowed his words.
Opening his eyes, the golden eyes devoid of emotion glanced at Tian Wu squatting on the ground, and Long Yan slowly spoke.
“Tian Wu, since you don’t admit, I’ll ask, usually other cells have five people, why are there six of us here?”
Facing Long Yan’s question, Tian Wu had already thought of an excuse and replied defensively.
“Because there are too few cells, not enough people…”
Before Tian Wu could finish, Brother Qing spat on his face and cursed.
“Bullshit, fewer cells in this prison? Impossible.”
He knew that the more people there are, the likelier the disputes. The group had made the underground prison so hidden, how could they not prepare for this?
“This…”
Tian Wu didn’t know how to defend himself, swallowing a mouthful of spit, he quickly came up with a new explanation.
“That person usually only sends us over once a hundred and fifty people are gathered, so perhaps they did not realize the experiments were wasted.”
But as Zhou Tian spoke, the entire prison cell fell silent, then Long Yan sat up on the bed.
“How do you know that person sends us over once a hundred and fifty people are gathered?”
Long Yan’s golden eyes had a touch of amusement as he questioned Tian Wu squatting on the ground.
