Chapter 2505: Chapter 2495: The End Is Also the Beginning
The two had been comrades for years, and with a mere glance, Tian Luo Yi understood Chu Meng’s intention, leaping a few times through the shrubs and taking out another dagger from his waist, ready to attack the Cracked Earth Bear.
Chu Meng’s body also silently moved a bit toward the Cracked Earth Bear, ready to support Tian Luo Yi’s attack at any moment and prepared to block the Cracked Earth Bear’s advance.
Seeing Chu Meng move towards him, the Cracked Earth Bear let out a roar, seemingly wanting to say something. Unfortunately, despite its strength, its cultivation had not yet reached the point where it could speak human language.
Humans are the masters of all spirits, and animals subconsciously start to develop towards humans. Once they can speak human language, they are considered to have stepped onto the demon path. The cultivation of the Demon Race is also divided into three levels: Demon King, Demon Saint, Demon Emperor. Above these is the Immortal level, making them scarcely different from human cultivators.
Many Spirit Beasts may speak human language without adequate cultivation, and most of them are wise beings. Those like the ones seen within the inner world were foxes transformed into the Demon Race. Even the Fire Demon Beast Long Yan encountered can also cultivate.
But the Cracked Earth Bear before them was evidently not an exceptionally intelligent being. Although it had reached the level of a Demon Emperor, it still couldn’t speak human language. This difference in animals leads to different outcomes.
Chu Meng clearly couldn’t understand the series of bear sounds from the Cracked Earth Bear. The bear itself probably had little hope, thinking of the human who told him not to harm humans at the temple entrance. The Cracked Earth Bear could only do a standard head-holding defensive squat.
Chu Meng was stunned!
Tian Luo Yi, lying in wait in the shrubs, was also stunned.
They saw the absolute king in their eyes, the Cracked Earth Bear, squatting on the ground in an extremely… speechless manner, leaving them temporarily incapable of expressing the bear’s current look with words. It even seemed somewhat cute.
However, the two did not intend to let the Cracked Earth Bear off, preparing to launch an attack, as no one could guarantee that the beast wouldn’t attack the group in the next second. Just as they planned to strike first, a voice descended from the air.
“Do not attack him. He is one of us… no, a bear.”
Chu Meng was all too familiar with this voice, as it lingered in her mind like a curse from the time he lifted her, impressing her deeply.
Long Yan’s figure suddenly appeared between the two and the Cracked Earth Bear, with the colorful armor gradually disappearing, revealing Long Yan’s true appearance. Yet, Long Yan was covered in fresh blood; the residual impact from Shi Ran’s attacks, which landed on the armor, was enough to give Long Yan a hard time.
However, most of these injuries were superficial, quickly healing under the Martial God Array’s increase, posing no harm to Long Yan. Although he looked intimidating, Long Yan was not significantly injured.
Chu Meng suddenly hugged Long Yan and cried out loud, catching Long Yan off guard, unsure where to place his hands.
Tian Luo Yi also emerged from the shrubs, nodding to Long Yan. Despite his cold demeanor, he still held some principles. If it weren’t for Long Yan, their mercenary team would likely have perished within the temple.
“Stop crying, haven’t I returned?!”
Looking at Chu Meng soaking the front of his clothes with tears, Long Yan said helplessly, though maintaining a gentle tone as she was worried for him.
Sensing the helplessness in Long Yan’s tone, Chu Meng’s mind was thrown into chaos. She hurriedly withdrew from Long Yan’s embrace, only to see others teasingly watching her, even Chu Lu, who lost an arm, looking at her, making her cheeks flush with redness.
She gave Long Yan a punch, cast him a disdainful glance, and then turned to Zhu Ying’s side, ignoring Long Yan.
The sudden action caught Long Yan off guard, only able to smile bitterly. He told everyone that the Cracked Earth Bear was summoned by him, astonishing everyone, as the bear was the true king of this area; it was a surprise to everyone that Long Yan could summon it.
However, the Cracked Earth Bear, being the king, was not self-aware and simply sat beside Long Yan. The latter took out some roasted chicken from his storage ring and handed them over, which the Cracked Earth Bear began to devour with large bites.
When asked about the situation inside the temple, Long Yan merely shook his head. Standing here meant Shi Ran lost; everyone looked at Long Yan, confused by his meaning.
Long Yan raised his head, gazing at a patch of starry sky not far away, where Shi Ran no longer resembled that white bone form but had returned to the appearance of a handsome little monk, though his pale face now carried a touch of humanity.
Indeed, Long Yan’s strike did not truly kill Shi Ran. The gun tip only paused before Shi Ran’s forehead, leaving the latter perplexed. Under Long Yan’s Heaven Shaking Earth Shattering shot, the Aura of Heavenly Dao had dissipated completely, being mere Heavenly Dao aura that couldn’t compare to the Martial God Array.
“Why not kill me?”
Shi Ran raised his head, staring at Long Yan’s almost shattered armor due to his attacks. Though the Martial God Array was formidable, it was merely void strength from the Nine Suns Cauldron, lacking the true momentum of the array.
“I have no reason to kill you anymore; do take care of yourself.”
Long Yan swiftly retracted his gun and turned away, leaving Shi Ran stunned on the ground, confused by Long Yan’s intention.
“Since you’ve found your path, live well and strive to achieve it.”
Leaving these words, Long Yan departed without turning back, leaving Shi Ran bewildered. Yet, Shi Ran soon laughed heartily, finding Long Yan genuinely amusing.
“This life I owe you, I will repay.”
Regardless of the clean ground, Shi Ran gazed at the sky, watching his space gradually collapse, pondering his next move: visite the evil cult kidnapping boys and girls.
Shi Ran merely waved at Long Yan before transforming into a stream of light, disappearing into the distance where the second half of the demon beast resided. The beasts there were no longer weak, more dangerously filled with hidden evil cults. But Long Yan was not worried for Shi Ran, as he was a Bodhisattva; if Shi Ran hadn’t held back, Long Yan couldn’t have defeated him, so what could an evil cult do to him?
Long Yan returned to their base. Although Chu Lu lost an arm, it proved their team completed the task, ensuring wealth enough for a lifetime; passing the exam could also upgrade their status to Heavenly Level mercenaries.
