Chapter 2500: Chapter 2490 White Bone Bodhisattva

With a slight smile, Release saw Long Yan’s shocked expression; this was not the most significant crime, after all, as even in Buddhism there is the saying that though wine and meat pass through the intestines, the Buddha remains in the heart.

The images on the screen became clearer; the eighteen men, besides exercising, spent their time in town bullying the populace. Yes, bullying the populace was the pastime of these eighteen Vajras of the Buddhist Sect.

Eating without paying, beating town residents—these were relatively minor actions. But eventually, these individuals formed ties with an Evil Cult hiding in the Demon Beast Mountain Range and helped them abduct children for the cultists’ cultivation.

The reward for their service was only some ordinary Elixirs from the Evil Cult, which they sold before indulging in revelry.

As the images faded, Release’s face remained expressionless, devoid of joy, anger, sadness, or happiness.

"What do you think? Dragon Benefactor, do you still believe they are innocent now?"

Long Yan shook his head; this matter was likely more than a mere incident upon Release’s discovery, causing many innocent people to suffer because of these eighteen individuals. They deserved death.

"The Junior Monk was right; the karma brought about is due to their own deeds."

With Release’s slightly sickly smile, Long Yan felt uneasy but didn’t know what to do. Technically, Release killing these eighteen people was a service to the people, removing harm.

"And what about the monks inside the temple?"

Long Yan’s voice bordered on calmness, wanting to know the inside story, which matched well with what Venerable Liaoran had mentioned. Old Liaoran spent his life engrossed in Buddhism, unaware of the actions of his disciples.

"They colluded with the Demon Clan, intending to unseal the seal, hoping that if demons returned to the continent, they would secure positions within the Demon Clan as promised."

It turned out that after returning to the Demon Continent, the Demon Clan aimed for a counterattack but was sealed. It was a one-way seal with no unsealing method, yet, for Humans, even a child could break it.

One only needed to unravel the talismans on the Demon Sealing Stone. Cultivators eventually revert to simplicity, reflecting their realm. Unexpectedly, the seal formed by several guardians amounted only to this talisman, yet its power sealed the Demon Clan for thousands of years. It’s truly breathtaking.

However, the seal was set with the Human Clan as the limit; only Humans could undo it. Alarmingly, the Demon Clan even sacrificed a tribe leader, sending a supreme artifact of their clan through the Void.

At this point, Release took out an exceptionally small stone from his sleeve—an item left after Nüwa repaired the heavens, exchanged with the Immortals by the Demon Clan.

Long Yan reached to pick up the small stone Release placed on the table. Although it appeared peculiar, it looked like any ordinary stone, only faintly emitting seven colors.

"This thing is called Nüwa Stone, also known as Colorful Stone. The power it contains is unimaginable to us; possessing it allows even an ordinary Cultivator to easily break the seal."

With hands clasped, Release said—in another perspective, he saved many Human lives. Long Yan moved his lips, wanting to speak but then fell silent.

"Dragon Benefactor wants to ask about those deceased mercenaries?"

Release seemed to understand Long Yan’s query, and spoke out. Long Yan detected a hint of dissatisfaction in Release’s gaze, which surprised him.

"Their deaths partly blame me; among them, there were many wrongdoers, but they all perished. Ming Zhu and that soul were beyond my control; I could only slightly limit them. The true cause of their deaths was mutual slaughter."

Release’s expression was candid, as the truth was clear, with nothing to hide. The mercenaries’ strings were tense at all times, and upon facing incomprehensible situations, when their rational string snapped, they resulted in mutual slaughter.

"Like Zhu Ying, right?"

Long Yan nodded, recalling Zhu Ying’s situation; his insight easily saw the red hue in Chu Lu and others’ eyes. Long Yan also understood why his powers were sealed when the Junior Monk summoned others.

"This too was due to the Junior Monk."

It appears that the so-called control was precisely Release’s intervention; his true intent in sealing the space was likely to eliminate these wrongdoers.

Long Yan sighed deeply; matters always had two sides. The fury in his heart gradually calmed; could one say Release was entirely wrong? The monks secretly colluded with the Demon Clan, yet Release saved countless innocent Human lives.

However, one couldn’t say he was right either, for many there died undeservedly, buried within this small temple.

Release stood up, holding a stick of incense, lighting it in the incense burner beside him; the fragrance eased Long Yan’s conflicted mind.

"Do you know why the Junior Monk shattered both eyes of the Buddha statue?"

Release’s face revealed a trace of defiance. If he hadn’t walked the evil path, with his deeds he could at least rival these people, but Release disdained such actions.

"Because they were blind; I remember my master once said, the Buddha saves the world, but the evil in this world didn’t decrease at all. Those who died at my hands threatened more lives; it’s the reason behind my actions. Everything I did cleared the air in this world a bit."

As he silently chanted, a Lotus Platform appeared beneath Release’s feet. Sitting upright on it, he emitted a hint of Buddhist nature, wrapped in bone-like brilliance. Long Yan, at this moment, seemed to understand why Release lived for a thousand years.

Release had achieved the body of a Bodhisattva!

By killing, he validated his path—the world’s foremost. Venerable Liaoran was right; Release’s Buddhist roots were far superior to his.

"Come, having committed mistakes, naturally there is karma and retribution. Perhaps you are my karma."

Long Yan slowly stood up; Release could no longer be labeled an evil monk. He had achieved the rightful self; one should respectfully address him as Bodhisattva.

Release’s body gradually began to disintegrate, merging like water and milk, eventually leaving only one white skeleton.

White Bone Bodhisattva!
