Chapter 482: Chapter 483: Tony Will Remember This Grudge

He Jinxia meticulously examined her and smiled, "Not long ago, your pictures were all over the internet, and I thought you just happened to have some business at the library. But now, looking at you, it seems you’re really planning to develop into the literary arts type?"

Meng Wan stuck out her tongue and spread her hands helplessly, "How is that possible? If it wasn’t for my brother forcing me to read, I wouldn’t want to at all. You know I love excitement. Asking me to read quietly would be torture for me!"

He Jinxia shook her head, smiling, "Not really, you seem to be enjoying the pain to me."

With a "hehe" laugh, Meng Wan didn’t hide it from her, "Recently, I’ve fallen for a genius. He’s totally my type, so I turned myself into a literary young woman to get close to him, planning to overcome the enemy from within."

He Jinxia said meaningfully, "A literary young woman, huh..."

Meng Wan felt embarrassed to continue the topic and quickly changed the subject, "What about you? I see you’ve been doing quite well lately, what with being nominated for Berlin and winning Baihua State’s Best New Artist. Are you going to be Movie Queen next year?"

He Jinxia rolled her eyes at her, "If I could really become Movie Queen next year, then you might as well expect me to win ten million. I feel like the odds for that are higher."

Meng Wan said cheerfully, "People need to have dreams, right? If not next year, then the year after."

After chatting for a while, He Jinxia brought up a serious matter with Meng Wan, "Have you been in contact with JY recently?"

Meng Wan was startled and shook her head, "No."

They say time is the best healer, and Meng Wan agreed. The rage she felt from being betrayed, when she thought about it now, didn’t seem like a big deal anymore.

But the scars in her heart would exist forever.

He Jinxia, "Li Zimu has been looking for me, asking for your contact. There has been a misunderstanding between you two, and she wants to explain it to you."

Meng Wan was silent for a while, followed by a light sigh, "I don’t want to see her right now."

He Jinxia understood.

After pondering for a moment, she slowly spoke up, "Meng Wan, you know about them drugging me, trying to ruin my career, even though they didn’t succeed in the end.

But those years when I was overweight in the group were the most difficult years of my life. I don’t want to let JY get away with it so easily. I... want you to help me."

Meng Wan fell silent again, this time she was so quiet for so long that He Jinxia thought she wasn’t interested, then she finally spoke softly, "Let’s hear it first."

...

The day has come, it’s Christmas.

He Jinxia was dragged out of her warm bed early by Tony and taken to the company. She was dressed up from head to toe to ensure she made a stunning appearance at "Harper’s Bazaar’s Christmas Charity Night."

However, He Jinxia wasn’t very optimistic about it.

The dinner was not open to the public. Celebrities could only have their photographs taken while walking the red carpet, and then Harper’s Bazaar would release group photos with all the celebrities.

As a top fashion magazine, the dinner hosted by Harper’s Bazaar was destined to be another frenzy in the fashion world!

Not only that, the celebrities invited had to meet high standards, mostly top-tier stars and above, with criteria far stricter than Fashion Week.

All the female stars would undoubtedly compete for glamour on this day, each displaying their charm on the red carpet.

Being a second-tier star, dressing too flamboyantly wouldn’t necessarily help me steal the spotlight from those top-tier stars, and being too ostentatious might even draw their ire.

At such a star-studded event, her status was not high, so she planned to keep a low profile.

He Jinxia had been pondering how to tell Tony, but the moment she saw the evening gown Tony had prepared for her, her eyebrows raised, and she stopped talking.

The black cocktail dress paired with a snow-white fluffy shawl was a reserved choice by Tony—neither ugly nor beautiful.

It seemed Tony, though ambitious, knew his limits.

"I actually thought you’d dress me up like a goddess," He Jinxia said with a smile as she turned in the black cocktail dress, teasingly.

Tony looked regretful, "I actually prepared another outfit for you. It’s so beautiful, like a flower fairy, a stunning elf, but it’s a haute couture from PDZ. You’re not famous enough for them to lend you haute couture."

"Luo You got wind of my idea. He berated me at yesterday’s team meeting, saying you need to keep a low profile now and can’t be so ostentatious."

Changing his tone, Tony said angrily, "Fashion knows no borders, has no classes, and doesn’t distinguish between noble and humble!

The thing I dislike the most is when you, because of your modest fame, can’t outshine the other stars. It loses the soul of fashion freedom. I absolutely disagree with Luo You’s approach of having you keep a low profile!"

He Jinxia asked out of curiosity, "So?"

Tony angrily stated, "He threatened me with Bruce, saying if I act capriciously, he’ll kick Bruce out of the team. He’s gone too far! I’ll remember this grudge. He’d better not give me any leverage, better not come begging me, hmph!"

He Jinxia suddenly felt a chill down her spine and silently lit a candle for Luo You.

Women are not to be trifled with, and even less so Tony, this man of clear loves and hates.

Once dressed, He Jinxia stayed in the company’s makeup room, waiting for the time to leave in a car.

Every star’s entrance order and timing were arranged in advance, and as an outsider who got in through connections, He Jinxia was naturally scheduled early on.

Knowing that He Jinxia was ready, Luo You headed to the makeup room to check on her after finishing a meeting about agent affairs.

Zhang Ming went out with him and casually inquired about his plans afterward.

Although younger than Luo You, Zhang Ming’s connections and experience were more extensive.

Luo You held Zhang Ming in high esteem and wanted to build a relationship, so he honestly shared, "I’m going to see how Jinxia is getting on."

Zhang Ming paused, a strategy immediately forming in his mind. His eyes flickered as he nodded and said with emphasis, "You should go check it out. The company has gone through some effort for He Jinxia’s Harper’s Bazaar opportunity. The company intends to promote He Jinxia; don’t let the company down."

Luo You nodded and headed toward the makeup room.

As he walked, he noticed that Zhang Ming was following him and asked curiously, "Brother Zhang, are you coming too?"

That’s exactly what Zhang Ming had been waiting for!

After feigning deep thought for a good while, he nodded, "Alright, I have something on the second floor, so I can take a look at how He Jinxia is getting along on my way there."

The second floor had both a makeup room and a conference room, and Zhang Ming had been considering how to tag along—now Luo You had just handed him the perfect opportunity, exactly to his liking.

Zhang Ming gave Luo You a smile, a touch of a nurturing, motherly smile crossing his face. Not bad, not bad, this one has talent and is worth cultivating.
