Chapter 477: Chapter 478 Internal Strife

He Jinxia looked at her with a smile that was not quite a smile, "Not bad acting, but do you really think I’m so foolish, Li Zimu, that I don’t understand anything? I know everything you’ve done."

Li Zimu’s heart was racing. She quickly denied, "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

Suddenly, He Jinxia stepped forward a few paces, coming very close to Li Zimu. She lowered her head, her lips close to Li Zimu’s ear, and uttered each word distinctly:

"The things you’ve done to me, I have never forgotten. Who gave you the courage to think that I would help you? Hmph."

That final scoff was like a venomous snake, burrowing into Li Zimu’s heart and filling her with a chill!

Her eyes widened as she looked at He Jinxia, feeling as though she was utterly unrecognizable at this moment.

The image still lingering in her mind was of the plump He Jinxia, and once she had slimmed down, Li Zimu no longer recognized her.

As soon as she had spoken, He Jinxia lifted her head and stepped back, her face breaking into an impeccable smile as she spoke in a normal tone, "Zimu, I’m leaving now. Let’s chat another time when we’re free."

Li Zimu forced a smile, wanting to say something but not daring to utter a word, she could only watch He Jinxia’s retreating figure getting further away.

Before He Jinxia left, she swept a glance at the other members of JY, capturing their expressions in the corner of her eye.

The other members were fine, but as soon as Wen Ningning caught her look, she uncomfortably shrank back and turned her head, looking towards Li Zimu.

And her gaze towards Li Zimu was filled with undisguised disgust and dissatisfaction.

Seated in the car, He Jinxia thought of Wen Ningning’s gaze and a meaningful smile curled on her lips.

The next breaking point, it seems, lies with her.

After He Jinxia had left, the JY group hastened their departure from the exit.

Zhang Yingru was still waiting for them at the company; they all headed there first.

In the car, Li Zimu wore the gloomiest expression.

Their makeup was stage makeup, already heavy on foundation, and Li Zimu’s face was devoid of color. Combined with the heavy makeup, it made her look like a wandering, pale ghost.

She seemed to be in a terrible state of mind, staring blankly out of the window, lost in thought.

At this point, JY had learned that their lip-syncing had been exposed, and the expressions on every member’s face were grim. The atmosphere in the car was oppressive, and no one was talking.

Some members were resentful; they weren’t the only performers lip-syncing on stage, so why were they the only ones being scolded by netizens? What had they done wrong?

Lip-syncing was not their choice; the Baihua State Organizing Committee ensured a flawless live performance, requiring all the performing guests to lip-sync. Why were they the only ones being condemned?

It was completely unfair!

Tonghua Entertainment had already started public relations work, guiding netizens to listen closely to the live vocals of all the performers at Baihua State, and now some netizens were beginning to question. It wasn’t only JY that lip-synced, other stars did too.

The PR effects were already showing, but JY was still the one getting criticized the most harshly, with personal attacks surfacing. Every member was enduring cyberbullying.

Some members couldn’t help but scroll through comments, growing more and more infuriated, and suddenly, one of them turned their head and gave Wen Ningning a fierce glare.

Wen Ningning just happened to look up and meet their gaze, saw the group member’s expression, and glared back at her without showing any weakness:

"What’s the matter, want to start a fight? I’m ready whenever you are!"

Her words lit the fuse, and the group member, fuming with rage, said, "If it weren’t for you holding the microphone the wrong way, would we have gotten cursed out like this? It’s all your fault!"

Wen Ningning retorted with a curse: "Did I do it on purpose? I didn’t want this to happen either. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes; nobody’s perfect all the time.

Look clearly; the one who’s been cursed out the worst is me, and the one whose entire family was cursed to die is also me. I’m the most innocent one here!"

The group members were nearly brought to tears: "You! You’re making excuses! Acting like we haven’t been cursed, you—"

Li Zimu suddenly roared, "Enough, stop fighting!"

Her gaze fiercely swept the group member speaking and Wen Ningning, her voice cold and sharp, "Whoever should bear the mistake will bear it, no one will escape. The online storm hasn’t even died down yet, and you lot better not start an internal dispute!"

When the leader spoke angrily, no one dared say another word; over the years, Li Zimu had indeed built up her authority within the team.

In the silence that followed, suddenly, Wen Ningning scoffed softly, piercing the quiet inside the vehicle.

A vein popped on Li Zimu’s forehead.

Wen Ningning only dared to scoff once before she turned her head to look out the window, silent.

When they arrived at Tonghua Entertainment, Sister Zhang, her expression dark, pulled the group members into the meeting room and lashed out at them fiercely, focusing her barrage on Wen Ningning.

"You think you’re capable, huh? The uproar online hasn’t been resolved, and yet you’ve started fighting amongst yourselves. What, do you want to completely ruin this group?"

"Even without He Jinxia and Meng Wan, we still have the chance to break into the top-tier teams. The one and only top-tier team in Huaxia, equipped with everything; the company would pave the way for you and build you into a top idol group!"

"Do you even want to stay in the entertainment circle anymore? If not, then get lost quickly. I won’t be unfeeling; I won’t sue you in court for contract breaches for all to see. You just have to pay the penalty fee stipulated in the contract."

Something crossed Sister Zhang’s mind, and she sneered, "Don’t even think of finding another company. If Tonghua Entertainment doesn’t want you, no other company will dare to take you in!"

The color of some members’ faces changed slightly.

After quite the scolding, Sister Zhang eased her tone slightly and looked at Wen Ningning, "Holding the microphone the wrong way was your mistake, and now the team will have to pay for your previous actions. Most of the PR costs will be deducted from your end."

Wen Ningning’s face changed dramatically, "Sister Zhang, I don’t have much money left."

Sister Zhang’s face turned colder, "Knowing you don’t have much money, then why do you keep self-sabotaging? You know how much your performance has slipped recently, and everyone can see the losses you’ve caused the team."

Wen Ningning’s face flashed with resentment: "It’s not my fault; the press release when Meng Wan left the group was discussed and agreed upon by everyone. I just had bad luck getting called out by He Jinxia; that’s not my problem!"

"The subsequent leaked private photos and mud-slinging had nothing to do with me; I just had a bit of bad luck. All the other girl group members go out all the time, and yet I was the one who got exposed, becoming the scapegoat. You all saw how horribly I was cursed out that month."

"I admit that losing endorsements was due to my negative news, and I accept that. But why was there negative news in the first place? It was because you all decided to post that Weibo which led to those issues. If we had chosen to make peace instead of attacking Meng Wan back then, there wouldn’t be any issues now!"

"This isn’t fair to me; it’s not my fault. Why should I be the one to pay for everything!"
