Chapter 450: Chapter 451: Impressive

He Jinxia shifted slightly and still with a smile, said, "It seems that you insist on blocking my path?"

Sheng Yan’s expression did not change as he walked forward step by step, casually saying, "Of course not, the road is wide enough for two to walk together, why don’t you walk?"

He Jinxia’s glance tightened, she lifted her head, and began to walk forward, her eyes slightly provocative, "You’re right, let’s both pass together."

One step, two steps, three steps... The distance between them narrowed, and the next second, their bodies were even on the same plane, about to brush past each other—

At that moment, He Jinxia made her move!

She raised her hand, turning it into a blade, and struck fiercely at Sheng Yan’s neck.

Sheng Yan dodged backward, stretching out his hand to catch He Jinxia’s arm.

He Jinxia immediately struck with a leg sweep aimed at Sheng Yan’s lower body.

Sheng Yan could only use his other hand to block her leg, and He Jinxia took advantage of the situation to free her hand from his grasp, creating a distance between them as they faced off.

The crew members on set instinctively held their breath, caught up in the atmosphere they had created, fearing that any noise might disrupt their rhythm and state.

At a certain moment, He Jinxia and Sheng Yan moved again, their hands and feet clashing once more.

This was a real fight, not one created through movie editing.

The action director stood behind the director, originally planning to break down the moves step by step when they started fighting, allowing the director to shoot one segment at a time.

Unexpectedly, as soon as the dialogue scene was over, the transition to the action scene took everyone by surprise.

This action scene was not particularly intense, aiming for beauty in the moves, appearing perilous, yet both actors deliberately slowed down to a speed where they could react and counter.

When everyone finally came to their senses, the two on the set had already reached the last step.

Sheng Yan had somehow forced He Jinxia into a corner, pressing one hand tightly on her shoulder to prevent her escape, while the other hand reached towards her neck.

He Jinxia’s face changed slightly, her body struggling violently, but she could not escape Sheng Yan’s restraint, and as his hand was about to grab her necklace, she gritted her teeth, closed her eyes, and thrust her head forward.

Sheng Yan used his hand to block her head, and He Jinxia gained a moment’s respite, pulling out her smartphone as he reached for her neck again to fend him off.

The phone was the latest model with a full screen and curved edges, encased in a high-definition tempered glass case, perfectly able to withstand Sheng Yan’s pounding.

Seeing her use the phone to defend herself, Sheng Yan raised an eyebrow, and by then, the script had already changed.

But a true actor, even if the scene is changed on the fly, can still adapt excellently.

Sheng Yan deliberately clenched his hands into fists, miming the motion of punching, and aimed directly at He Jinxia’s phone.

He Jinxia also understood his intention, pressed the phone against his fist, and actually let him hit it several times.

From the perspective on set, this kind of fighting looked pretty silly, the phone even intentionally colliding with the fists, the pretense all too obvious, but the footage shot on set would later go through post-production editing.

Good post-production editing can turn a mediocre film into an excellent one.

Poor post-production editing can also turn an excellent film into garbage.

The filming being done by He Jinxia and Sheng Yan now actually provided editable material for the short film.

The two exchanged slow-motion moves back and forth for a while when He Jinxia suddenly turned her head to look down the hallway.

Sheng Yan immediately understood and paused his actions.

According to the script, it was during their standoff that the sound of footsteps suddenly came from the hallway, signaling the arrival of others and providing He Jinxia with an opportunity to escape.

He Jinxia quickly turned and ran toward the source of the sound, Sheng Yan frowned slightly, unwilling to let go of this perfect chance and pursued relentlessly.

Just as his hand was about to grasp the necklace around her neck, He Jinxia did not look back; it was as if she had eyes in the back of her head, reaching her hand back—

She intended to use her cellphone to block Sheng Yan’s hand!

Sheng Yan raised an eyebrow and switched his move, smacking the cellphone from her hand into the air.

The cellphone spun freely in the air and then crashed to the ground, Sheng Yan stopped and looked up only to find no trace of He Jinxia ahead.

All filming had ended, Sheng Yan turned to look at the director.

The director seemed a bit stunned and subconsciously turned to consult the stunt coordinator next to him.

The stunt coordinator was also bewildered, looking at the director with a confused face, so what was he to do?

Seeing them all looking puzzled, Sheng Yan couldn’t help but cough a few times.

The director snapped back to reality and said, "Right, the cellphone... We still need to shoot some close-up shots of it, and the final scene where you swiped the phone needs another take, plus you need to catch the flying cellphone in a whoosh, and He Jinxia can run even faster..."

After giving a few instructions, the director began the retakes of the cellphone and action shots.

Thus, the entire crew once again witnessed the fight scenes between He Jinxia and Sheng Yan that were so phenomenally executed, plunging them into bemusement.

One crew member muttered, "Is fight choreography really that simple?"

Another staff replied in a murmur, "Not right, from what I’ve seen in other production teams, they didn’t shoot fights like this."

A different crew member revealed the truth, "This kind of fight isn’t difficult, the key is the coordination between the actors. You see how skilled they are, it’s all just for show, not really realistic. The tension and excitement must be created through post-production editing, but He Jinxia and Sheng Yan do have great chemistry."

Isn’t their cooperation great, though, you punch, I kick, you block, I push, damn, they could just keep fighting forever without even needing a script.

Impressive!

The most challenging fight scenes of the afternoon were completed quicker than expected, making everything else easier thereafter.

The director looked outside at the weather and decided to move the evening scenes to be shot in the afternoon instead.

The Four Great Thieves gathered at the dinner party were actually there to steal the jewelry worn by the elite guests.

The process of stealing the jewelry was convoluted, but the outcome was splendid, with each of the thieves managing to steal what they fancied and using every means at their disposal to escape, some disguised as waitstaff, others as a man or woman.

As for Sheng Yan, having been tricked by the departing He Jinxia, his retreat wasn’t smooth, and he ultimately had to break a window and jump into the sea to escape.

Part of the crew detached and followed Sheng Yan to shoot the sea jump scene.

Jumping into the sea, of course, wasn’t really going to happen.

The hotel had an outdoor swimming pool with a diving board; Sheng Yan simply had to correctly jump into the pool from the board, and the post-production team would turn the area into a vast blue sea.
