The morning’s filming ended, and the afternoon session went very smoothly as well.

By evening, the day’s shoot was complete, and He Jinxia’s work temporarily came to a halt.

She immediately left the set and rushed home, where her mom was waiting for her to have dinner.

She had cleared her schedule for the next day in advance with the crew, not for any concert this time, but for an audition and an endorsement deal.

The next day, He Jinxia set off at seven in the morning to head to the audition location.

Morning traffic was heavy, as everyone was rushing to work, making the roads somewhat congested.

Even with superior driving skills, there was not much one could do on the crowded city roads.

He Jinxia checked her phone for the time; it was already 7:20 a.m. Just two stretches of road were this congested, and the traffic in Imperial City was unmatched.

Fortunately, the audition was scheduled for eight, and it wasn’t too far away, so she would make it there on time.

Luo You was in the car too, rambling on, "Why didn’t you tell me it was a film by Director Wilson? If I had known he was directing, I could have worked some of my magic behind the scenes. I was totally flabbergasted when I got a call from Wilson’s assistant the day before yesterday, okay?"

"At first, I thought it was some kind of scam. I was dumbfounded for ages, thinking that scammers surely wouldn’t be so sophisticated as to make up something like this. And they didn’t mention money at all, just the audition. If I hadn’t suddenly remembered you saying you’d been in touch with a director in Z country, I might have even blocked the assistant’s number..."

These were the same words Luo You had said over the phone the day before, and now he was repeating them. He Jinxia was speechless, feeling like Luo You was truly evolving towards a tendency like Mrs. Luo’s.

If his words were a bit more cutting and his voice a bit more piercing, another Tony would be born.

Cheng Xiaohua muttered from the front seat, "Brother Luo, stop talking, please. You’re making it so I can’t concentrate on driving."

Luo You was taken aback and shot a glare at the back of Cheng Xiaohua’s head, finally ceasing his incessant chatter and asking He Jinxia how confident she was about the audition.

He Jinxia pondered for a moment before replying, "Fifty-fifty, I guess. If nothing unexpected happens, Deng Zhaoyan should be there too."

Luo You frowned, "Is the source of the information reliable? How come you keep bumping into Deng Zhaoyan lately? Are you two what they call destined nemeses, or the sworn enemies you read about in novels?"

He Jinxia had no response to the latter question.

She rubbed her forehead, having slept poorly the night before; she wasn’t feeling her best that morning, "The information is reliable. She was present when I was talking to the director in Z country. Right after my discussion with the director, she butted in asking if she could also audition, completely shameless."

Since she had already had a falling out with Deng Zhaoyan, He Jinxia saw no reason to hide her feelings about her from Luo You and Cheng Xiaohua.

Deng Zhaoyan disliked her, and the feeling was mutual.

Luo You’s brows relaxed slightly as he said solemnly, "After all, it’s a film by an internationally renowned director. His style is very definite, and his target audience is mostly between 15 and 30 years old, encompassing both teenagers and urban white-collar workers. These are the main drivers of consumption, willing to spend money, not stingy, and numerous."

"Deng Zhaoyan has been strategizing a career change this year. The help she’s getting from reality TV is gradually diminishing. She’s been active on it for three years, accumulating many fans and haters alike. If she continues, there’s a risk of her value dropping."

"The audience is tired of seeing the same face for three years. To maintain her value, she has to think about a change. Since she’s already on screen, becoming an actress is the best choice. Oh, by the way, you probably don’t know, but Deng Zhaoyan has a TV drama that’s about to premiere."

He Jinxia was intrigued, "How is her acting?"

Luo You shook his head, "Don’t know. Her screen work hasn’t come out yet. Originally, she was planning a stunning debut with ’World,’ but you took that role."

He Jinxia corrected him, "It wasn’t taken by me; she was actively kicked off by the director."

Luo You turned to her with a serious tone, "It doesn’t matter, if you could snatch it away from her once, you can do it a second time. For this audition, you must secure the role. It will be very helpful for expanding your international influence!"

He Jinxia nodded. Even if Luo You hadn’t said this, she had already made up her mind to do so. The chance at fame was not something anyone would want to miss.

However, she furrowed her brows, slightly confused, "The director’s assistant only notified the location and time, and said nothing else?"

Luo You shook his head, "No, he didn’t say anything else. He said you would find out when you got there."

The doubt in He Jinxia’s eyes grew. If she hadn’t conversed with Director Wilson in advance, wouldn’t she be clueless about whether she was auditioning for the lead or supporting role, let alone wanting to know about the character’s details?

She murmured, "Isn’t this a bit too mysterious?"

Luo You smiled, "It’s quite normal. Foreigners are very strict about information and value privacy. They seldom offer the script unless they have confirmed an intention."

He Jinxia said, "But when I chatted with the director in Z-country, he revealed some details about the character to me."

Luo You was stunned for a moment, "What did you say, revealed to you?"

Just as He Jinxia nodded, Luo You’s phone rang.

It was a call from Wilson’s assistant.

Once answered, the assistant, speaking in an awkward Hua Country language, said angrily, "Why haven’t you come yet?"

Luo You was bewildered. He glanced at the time and said, "It’s only seven thirty..."

The assistant said, "Wrong, it’s already seven thirty-four! Are you planning to make us all wait for you to be late?"

Luo You became even more bewildered. Late? What was this all about?

"Wasn’t it okay to arrive before eight o’clock?"

The assistant said, "The time was changed last minute yesterday, to seven thirty. I sent you an email, didn’t you see it?"

Luo You’s bewilderment was threefold!

Damn, such an important thing as changing the audition time and you send it by email!

A problem that could’ve been reminded by a phone call, and you took the trouble to write a notification letter and send it over?

Was this not playing with him?

Not to mention that he had emptied his emails at eight o’clock the previous night. He was in the habit of reading and clearing his emails every evening, as He Jinxia was in her rising phase and received notices every day. However, he did not see this message last night!

In his ear, the assistant’s cold voice said, "I’ve already notified you. Whether you didn’t see it or did it on purpose, we can wait a maximum of five more minutes. If you can’t make it, then don’t bother coming. There are more than a dozen Hua Country actresses waiting to audition here, and we cannot collectively wait for you to arrive."
