Chapter 420: Chapter 421: Class Z of the third year
The second installment of "High Energy Classroom" saw He Jinxia, playing the role of Deng Meili, forced to accept the will and start what’s called the "will trial".
According to the lawyer, the will isn’t something you just get if you want it; it comes after a series of trials. Only after successfully completing the trials can the property in the will be given to her. If the trials are failed, the will is automatically donated to charity.
And the so-called trial was to teach in a school and get half the students in that class admitted to college.
Deng Meili naturally hoped for the trial to fail, but just after the lawyer finished explaining it, he pulled out another piece of paper that really whetted her appetite.
It was a line of chaotic English, but even more complex than what she had seen before, Deng Meili couldn’t decipher it on the spot. After she sent the lawyer away, she immediately booted up her computer to calculate and break the code.
Three hours later, she finally cracked it and got a sentence:
"Girl, inherit my estate smoothly, or I’ll expose your identity."
Deng Meili clenched her teeth, fighting the impulse to tear the note into pieces!
More threats!
The old man was dead, why couldn’t he leave her in peace even after death?
But as she thought about it, tears suddenly reddened Deng Meili’s eyes, dropping without warning. She curled up, hugging herself tight.
So he was really gone...
Deng Meili buried her head in her knees, outside the window, a myriad of lights shone brightly.
Inside, without the lights on, the room’s furnishings were faintly visible in the light from outside; her figure submerged in murky darkness.
In that murkiness, Deng Meili murmured softly, "Didn’t you say you’d live to a ripe old age, to see whom I’d marry? How come you passed away first..."
Her whispering revealed her vulnerability.
He Jinxia turned on the commentary; the online viewers had already started flooding the screen with messages.
"I feel so sorry..."
"Deng Meili must also be a delicate child, hiding her soft heart beneath a stubborn exterior."
"So the old man from the He family knew the protagonist early on, it seems that the He family never really gave up on her!"
"No matter what, I still think the grandfather’s handling is wrong. Saying he’d place her in a poor family and then just do it for twenty years, how much suffering is that?"
"Only through enduring the hardest hardships can one become superior."
...
After the commentary scrolled by, the video scene also changed, the moon sank, the sun rose, and another new morning dawned.
With the crisp sound of birds flapping their wings and chirping, Deng Meili, dressed in professional attire, rode her little scooter to school.
Even in a skirt, Deng Meili still looked handsome and smart.
Within Class Z of the third year, many students looked forward with great anticipation to the arrival of their new teacher.
This class had the poorest academic performance in the third year, two-thirds were rich kids, and the remaining third came from ordinary families, including two who could only afford school because of scholarships.
In the class, even though the morning reading bell had already sounded, the students were still wandering in the halls, laughing and joking.
It wasn’t until the head teacher came patrolling and couldn’t stand it any longer, that he blew his whistle and gestured for them to hurry into the classroom.
Only after the head teacher’s prompt did the students of Class Z of the third year reluctantly enter the classroom.
Their classroom was cool, with desks covered with personality-expressing stickers, combining several styles that surprisingly worked well together.
For instance, the blackboard was painted with dripping blood, but the windows were adorned with green plants, clean and fresh; the trash can was deliberately covered with a lifelike spider web... The only places spared from the sticker blight were the pristine white walls on both sides.
At that moment, two female students stood in front of the white wall, discussing how to decorate these places.
"How about we still go with stickers? They seem pretty good. We could buy some with themes like castles, moonlight forests, or vampires that would match our classroom’s style," one of the girls suggested.
Another girl said, "No, we should buy Princess, Dream Castle, and Knight kind of stickers, all sparkly and pink, which would totally match our classroom’s style."
"No, let’s get a Gothic castle instead."
"No, we should get a castle."
"Gothic castles look way cooler!"
"Castles are more dreamy for girls!"
"I am going to buy a Gothic castle!!"
"I am going to buy a castle!!"
Just as the two girls’ voices grew louder and they were about to start arguing, a boy sitting in the middle of the room, clearly impatient, slapped the desk with his hand, his slap piercing through the clamor.
Those two girls kept on arguing, completely oblivious to the unusual sound.
A boy immediately stood up, rushed over to them, and urged anxiously, "Ladies, class is about to start. Hurry back to your seats. Do you want to get scolded by the teacher?"
Girl A snorted, "Cut it out, as if you’re really afraid of the teacher!"
Girl B scoffed, "Pfft, as if the teacher dares to control us!"
The boy explained, "After all, it’s a new teacher, and new brooms sweep clean, you know."
Girl A retorted, "So what? No matter how fierce she is, I can extinguish her fire."
Girl B asked, "Is the trap ready?"
The boy nodded, "Yeah, yeah, you’re both right, the trap is all set, just waiting for the teacher to fall in. Now go back to your seats."
He paused, his voice lowering, "Otherwise, Brother Jie will get angry."
The words "Brother Jie" seemed to have a magical power, making their breathing hitch as they subconsciously looked up towards the center of the classroom.
The student referred to as Brother Jie was lying on his desk, looking as if he was asleep.
The two girls hurried back to their seats without another word.
Sleepiness seemed contagious as more and more students began resting their heads on their desks.
Some students, initially wanting to talk, also went silent when they saw this and quietly played with their phones instead. This was why Class Z of the third year was unusually quiet.
With the classroom quieted down, any noise from the hallway seemed loud.
"Tap, tap, tap..." The sound of high heels clacking against the floor echoed, approaching from afar, getting clearer until it seemed to stop at the door.
Some students’ eyes lit up, quickly nudging others awake to watch the excitement.
Today, they had prepared a "big surprise" for the new teacher.
Deng Meili stood at the door, arms crossed, looking up at the classroom door to see a conspicuously hidden bucket poised over the entrance, waiting for its "honored guest."
Deng Meili shook her head, finding it all too boring. Weren’t these pranks dated years ago?
She thought for a moment, then stepped aside to a different position.
Inside the classroom, some students were discussing with great enthusiasm:
"Didn’t they say she arrived? Why isn’t there any noise?"
"Luo Shen, are you sure you didn’t hear wrong?"
"No noise, huh? Should we send someone to peek out the window to see if there’s anyone outside?"
