Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Unwelcome Guest Knocks on the Door

He Jinxia still had a vivid memory of Yidian Entertainment, after all, the crying photo of Li Li that went viral had almost led her to face a full-blown diss attack online, significantly damaging the image she had worked so hard to cultivate.

Even though they were only responsible for leaking the photo and didn’t purchase the Water Army to trend searches, the whole affair had started because of them, so how could she not take it seriously?

Last time, they were on opposing sides, but this time, they actually wanted to collaborate with her?

He Jinxia pondered for a while and then countered, "What do you think of their strength?"

Luo You: "It’s not bad, they are daring and aggressive, but a bit impetuous."

A sharp light flashed in He Jinxia’s eyes as she turned and drew the curtains to look outside, unsurprised to see the van parked below the apartment.

The world bustles, all for profit; the world hustles, all toward gain.

There are no eternal enemies, only eternal interests.

She turned back and drew the curtains again, saying indifferently, "Then let’s collaborate."

The year-end holiday went by faster than expected; before He Jinxia knew it, there were only two days left before she had to join the production crew. Tomorrow she would need to head to Imperial City to meet with Luo You, have a small meeting with her team, and then take a car to Film City.

Savoring the last day of warmth at home, He Jinxia suddenly felt reluctant to leave.

In her previous life, she was accustomed to being busy. She only longed for peace and relished the comfort of it when it came, especially the time spent with family, where she could always feel the warmth of her mother’s doting love.

This was something she had never experienced before, and He Jinxia cherished it dearly.

So He Jinxia started her day early, sticking close to Mrs. He and complaining about her pitiful life in Imperial City, where she was all alone and had to settle for junk fast food because there was no one to cook for her.

Mrs. He was about to recite the content of her complaints by heart!

While preparing lunch, He Jinxia exhibited her nuisance abilities like a lingering spirit, continuing to trail after Mrs. He.

Unable to bear it, Mrs. He pushed her out of the kitchen and warned her that if she continued, she would never go to Imperial City, which quieted He Jinxia down a bit.

Finally, they could have a peaceful lunch, but the quiet was short-lived. The He family hadn’t even settled down when they were visited by several unexpected guests that afternoon.

When the doorbell rang, it was He Jinxia who ran to open the door.

Upon opening the door, she was met with the sight of an elder woman, older than her mother, holding a child of about five years old, with a younger woman following behind, who looked to be the child’s mother.

The elder woman was surprised to see He Jinxia and hesitated before asking, "Is this He Meifang’s home?"

He Jinxia nodded and politely inquired, "May I know who you are?"

Just as the elder woman was about to say something, the young woman behind her excitedly pointed at He Jinxia and exclaimed, "Mom, it’s her, He Jinxia! The female celebrity who was really popular last year! I can’t believe you actually know her!"

Hearing the noise outside, Mrs. He also came over, calling out as she walked, "Jinxia, who is it?"

He Jinxia stepped aside to let her see the elder woman, and Mrs. He’s brow creased as she hesitated before asking, "Sister Lan?"

The elder woman said with excitement, "Ah, Fang, it’s been so long since I last saw you!"

Mrs. He hurriedly invited them in, and after introductions, He Jinxia learned that the elder woman was her aunt, the sister of Mr. He.

The young woman was the daughter-in-law of her aunt’s son, and the child her aunt was holding was her grandson.

In the living room, the aunt who had come from a long way had a lively chat with Mrs. He, while the young woman, who she should address as her sister-in-law, kept glancing at her with the corner of her eye and surreptitiously picked up her phone.

He Jinxia was very cautious about having her picture taken. In a gentle and soft voice, she asked her not to take photos, explaining her identity was sensitive, and that bare-faced pictures should not be leaked. The woman acknowledged, seeming a bit constrained, and appeared to want to ask something but didn’t dare to.

He Jinxia had noticed something was off with Mrs. He the moment they arrived, although they called each other sisters, their actions betrayed an underlying formality and strangeness.

She had no intention of making small talk with the suddenly arrived relatives; in her memories, she had never seen this aunt and her family before.

The five-year-old child was curious about everything and touched this and that in someone else’s living room, yet the young woman was too engrossed in her phone to care; only the aunt would occasionally scold the child.

But the elder woman was only putting on a show, after scolding for a bit, she stopped and chalked it up to the child’s playful nature.

Seeing that no one was paying attention to him, the child played even more wildly and even sneaked into Mrs. He’s bedroom!

He Jinxia noticed the child had left the living room and hurried after him.

The kid was fast and soon out of sight. She called his name while searching for him and finally found him in Mrs. He’s bedroom.

He Jinxia frowned when she saw the child rifling through a drawer, back turned towards her, searching for something unknown, while various identification documents lay scattered on the floor.

She walked over, took his hand away, and calmly said, "These things are not to be played with."

The child tugged at her hand, and when he couldn’t free himself, he burst into tears with a "wah."

He Jinxia initially ignored him, picking up the items scattered on the floor and stuffing them back into the drawer.

After tidying up, she crouched down preparing to reason with the child. Just then, the elder woman ran over, and on seeing the child cry, quickly pushed He Jinxia aside, crouched down, and hugged him while consoling him in her arms.

"My precious darling, don’t cry. Why are you crying? Tell grandma, and I’ll scold whoever it is!"

The little boy pointed at He Jinxia while crying and said, "Bad! This sister is a bad person!"

The elder woman frowned, "What happened?"

"Wuu wuu, she wouldn’t let me play with the stuff, wuu wuu!"

The elder woman looked at He Jinxia disapprovingly, "He’s just a child, what’s wrong with playing with things?"

Mrs. He, anxious, wanted to say something, but He Jinxia met the elder woman’s gaze, neither humble nor arrogant, and said, "He was just rummaging through the drawer, and there are identification documents among other things in there, not suitable for children to play with."

The elder woman felt somewhat guilty under her gaze and turned her head away, "How would he know the importance of those things, he’s just a child after all!"

He Jinxia replied softly, "But even if he is a child, he should not be playing with these things."

The elder woman muttered, "Who cares about such fuss!"

He Jinxia looked at her calmly, "It has to be fussed over."

"Wuu wuu, wuu wuu..." The child’s crying became a bit annoying. Mrs. He asked the elder woman to take him out and soothe him, and finally, everyone dispersed.

After finally calming down the child, the elder woman continued to make polite conversation with Mrs. He in the hallway. Watching over the unruly child became He Jinxia’s responsibility, while the child’s mother sat on the side, immersed in her phone, paying no attention whatsoever.
