Chapter 629: 0630 Another Discovery! (First Update)

The five of them fled the great hall, the stone giant behind them breaking through the walls to continue its pursuit.

With a sigh of misfortune, they couldn’t fathom why the creature had singled them out. Helpless, they had no choice but to keep sprinting wildly.

People scattered in all directions, the whereabouts of Ji Lingchen and the other prodigies from the three ancient clans unknown.

Boom!

With a wave of its hand, the stone giant brought a gust of wind, striking down where the five had been mere moments earlier. Had they not scattered instantly, being flattened into meat patties wouldn’t have been out of the question.

The stone giant turned its gaze towards Tang Ze, who cursed, "Get lost!"

He punched the stone giant, but it didn’t even bother to react, remaining completely unscathed. Witnessing this, Tang Ze’s heart shuddered. The giant’s defensive power was too strong; even though he himself was of Legendary Realm strength and had not used his full force, he should have at least left a scar. Yet the stone statue remained unharmed and continued its approach.

"Damn it," Tang Ze cursed again, quickly glancing around and spotting Ye Qiu.

Tang Ze immediately ran towards Ye Qiu, the stone giant following suit. Within the ancient city, the giant moved like a titan, able to block one’s path in just a few strides.

Soon reaching Ye Qiu, Tang Ze clearly intended to shift the trouble onto him, hoping to share his plight with Ye Qiu.

As the stone giant swung its massive palm again, both Ye Qiu and Tang Ze dodged in time.

Boom!

The ground collapsed, stones shattered; the giant’s strike, a pure display of strength, was formidable, rivaling the power of a Legendary Realm master.

"Ye Qiu, it’s up to you to lead it away. We’ll leave first; you cover our retreat," Tang Ze called out loudly.

Seeing Tang Ze’s insincere smile, Ye Qiu understood his intentions—have him hold off the giant, drawing all the stone carving’s attention onto himself.

"Ye Qiu, our Tang clan gave our spot to you, so you should at least make an effort!" Tang Hao added fuel to the fire.

They had realized the stone giant’s immense strength, nearly comparable to that of a Legendary Realm master. Apart from being somewhat clumsy, it had practically no weaknesses and was not easy to deal with.

By making Ye Qiu the target of the stone giant, they could make their escape from the ancient city.

"If we all work together, we can surely drive it off," Tang Surou stated, having seen through the thoughts of Tang Ze and Tang Hao. She did not wish for Ye Qiu to stay and attract the stone carving.

"Su Rou, your safety is paramount. Our mission in entering the Great Emperor’s tomb isn’t just about obtaining opportunities but also to ensure your protection. This is Ye Qiu’s mission, and it is time for him to shine. If we don’t leave now, when those other two sculptures come over, we will have no escape!" Tang Ze said.

Although Tang Ze made some sense, Tang Surou insisted on not doing so; they should face the enemy together and leave together.

Boom, boom...

Just then, the entire great hall collapsed, and two more stone giants emerged, heading straight towards the five of them.

Inside the great hall, many had fallen to the stone giants, and numerous individuals from the ancient clans fled in blind panic, rushing heedlessly in all directions, vanishing from sight, hiding from the stone giants’ gaze.

The five had suddenly become the target of three stone giants. As the other two approached, cornering them, Ye Qiu volunteered, "You guys go ahead, I’ll draw their attention."

"No! If we leave, we leave together!" Tang Surou refused to let Ye Qiu take the risk. At that moment, Tang Ze made a signal to Tang Hao and Tang Lu; without considering Tang Surou’s willingness, they grabbed her and began to run. Not too far away was a city wall with a broken hole.

Escaping the ancient city.

That was the four’s clear goal.

"Ye Qiu, the sculpture of the giant statue is up to you!" Tang Ze sneered at Ye Qiu before he left.

Very soon, the figures of the four disappeared through the broken wall opening. Ye Qiu gradually withdrew his gaze and focused on the three gigantic stone statues.

"Good, I want to see what kind of strength you have!" Ye Qiu stopped avoiding the fight and prepared to face the three giant statues. He was now surrounded, with three pairs of enormous eyes staring at him.

Boom!

The statues moved simultaneously, reaching out with their palms. Ye Qiu leapt into the air, stepping on the arms of the statues. With a sudden burst, he rose to the height of the statues’ heads.

In front of the giant statues, Ye Qiu was like a tiny ant, easily squashed with a single flick.

The three statues reached out towards the sky in an attempt to grab him, but Ye Qiu used this to his advantage, climbing onto the arm of one of the statues and quickly advancing toward its shoulder and head.

Boom!

Ye Qiu abruptly ducked. A fist grazed past his shoulder, the enormous wind from the punch causing his clothes to billow wildly.

Ye Qiu ran onto the body of the statue, the statue trying to grab him with its huge stone palms. Ye Qiu’s speed was so fast that he kept dodging on the statue’s body, causing attack after attack to miss.

Seeing this, the other two statues also made their moves, continuously reaching out for Ye Qiu.

Ye Qiu appeared like a monkey on the statues, dodging and climbing non-stop, and for a time, no one could catch him. Instead, they were toyed with by Ye Qiu.

Ye Qiu noticed that although the three statues had impressive defensive power, they seemed to lack intelligence, knowing only how to deal with the target in front of them.

He also observed that the eyes of the statues emitted a red light. Logically speaking, statues are just carvings, not living beings, so how could they move?

Ye Qiu stayed not because he couldn’t escape but because he was very interested in the three statues. He wanted to understand the principle that allowed them to move so freely. He didn’t believe these statues were truly alive, for if they were, they wouldn’t have this lifeless air about them, only knowing to destroy all living things.

Ye Qiu’s eyes flashed, and in an instant, the power of the Black Flame covered his eyeballs, activating his penetrative vision.

Looking at the statues again, Ye Qiu was astounded.

Such a precise contraption was like a robot, almost divinely ingenious.

He finally understood why the statues could move—it was because they were complex machines inside. Although Ye Qiu couldn’t fathom the intricacies of their inner workings, he was amazed by such a mechanism. To be precise, the statues were robots clad in a layer of special material.

What startled and excited Ye Qiu most was the energy source that powered the statues.

He saw that within the head of each statue was an energy source, crystal clear and fist-sized, transparent like a diamond.

Crystal Stones!

Ye Qiu’s eyes blazed with eagerness. He hadn’t expected that the statues were powered by the energy of Crystal Stones. If they were deprived of the Crystal Stones, the stone statues would once again become lifeless, completely immobile.

"Is it a first-grade Crystal Stone?" Ye Qiu was not certain, but he felt it was highly likely. Only first-grade Crystal Stones possessed the purest energy. Whoever created these statues with such enormous arms and stunning craftsmanship would certainly not settle for an inferior Crystal Stone as an energy source.

"Three first-grade Crystal Stones!" At this moment, Ye Qiu looked at the statues no longer as threats but as treasures, his eyes gleaming with excitement. After all, a first-grade Crystal Stone had once saved his life and even turned the Black Flame power into his own energy source. He had to obtain them. Ye Qiu was determined to extract the three first-grade Crystal Stones from the statues.

Everyone else had fled, unwilling to confront the statues, which ironically turned into an opportunity for Ye Qiu alone.

Ye Qiu couldn’t help but think of Tang Ze’s sneer. If Tang Ze knew about the first-grade Crystal Stones inside the statues, he would probably regret it to death.
