Chapter 548: 0549 Cultivation Completely Lost (Fifth Update)

Ancient lands, the Tang Clan.

In an antique room, Tang Heshan stood with his hands clasped behind his back, facing a landscape painting of a vast, tumultuous river, so lifelike and exquisite in its depiction that it evoked the thrill as if one were immersed in it.

However, Tang Heshan’s thoughts were not on the painting.

Behind him stood Tang Surou, somewhat constrained, feeling unable to relax in the presence of her father, the Clan Leader of the Tang.

The authority of her father was deep in her bones.

"Su Rou, how has your cultivation been going lately?" Tang Heshan said.

Tang Surou lowered her head and answered, "Recently, Su Rou has been diligently cultivating, but attempting to break through the mid-stage of the Legendary realm has proven somewhat difficult."

"Cultivation is not something accomplished overnight. I’ve heard from the servants that you’ve been going out often," Tang Heshan said, a hint of anger in his tone.

"Father, I was merely curious about a person, so I went out with a few others. I didn’t stay long and returned to the clan," Tang Surou’s heart knew her father had already learned of her actions these past few days.

"Oh? What person?" Tang Heshan asked, somewhat surprised.

"A young man from the mundane world," Tang Surou admitted frankly.

Tang Heshan frowned, "Su Rou, you should not be preoccupied with romantic feelings at this time, but instead focus on your cultivation. This Tang family will ultimately be in your hands. If you are not strong enough, how will you lead?"

Tang Surou’s face flushed, realizing her father had misunderstood, and she hurriedly explained, "Father, it’s not what you think. I am simply curious about this person’s strength because he, at the True Qi realm, defeated a martial artist of the Legendary realm."

Tang Heshan hadn’t paid much attention, but his gaze sharpened after hearing what Tang Surou said about a True Qi realm fighter defeating someone from the Legendary realm, "What did you say? The True Qi realm defeating the Legendary realm?"

"Yes, he is not from our ancient lands; he’s a Martial Artist from the world of martial arts," Tang Surou said.

Tang Heshan’s eyes flickered as he muttered, "A mere world of martial arts has produced someone who can fight across levels. This person has an extraordinary talent."

Swiftly, Tang Heshan’s tone changed, "However, it’s still best for you not to go to the mundane world. Although that person has talent, reaching the Legendary realm is likely his limit. But you are different. You are the future of the Tang, and you are my daughter, Tang Heshan."

"I understand," Tang Surou nodded.

"In three months, the Great Emperor’s tomb will open, which will bring a tremendous opportunity. If you can seize it, why couldn’t our Tang clan have a chance at becoming the strongest family?" Tang Heshan’s eyes shone eagerly.

Pressed by the three great ancient clans, not one clan did not wish to rise and become one of them.

"Use that top-grade Crystal Stone. It may help you break through to the mid-stage of the Legendary realm."

Hearing her father’s words, Tang Surou’s heart stalled. She had already used the top-grade Crystal Stone to save Ye Qiu, but she dare not confess to her father, simply nodding, "I understand, Father."

"Alright, you may go now."

Tang Surou left her father’s room, taking a deep breath. The fact that she’d gone to the mundane world had already displeased her father, and if he knew that she had brought Ye Qiu back and even used up a top-grade Crystal Stone, he would likely explode on the spot.

Tang Surou thought to herself, deciding it was better not to tell her father about Ye Qiu staying with the Tang clan for now.

When Tang Surou returned to Ye Qiu’s room, she found that he had already woken up.

Huan’er, who had been continuously chattering to herself while sitting on the chair, nearly jumped off when she saw Ye Qiu wake up.

"You’re awake," Huan’er said.

Ye Qiu looked around the room and finally set his gaze on Huan’er, nodding. The girl seemed cute, but she babbled on incessantly. She had gone on about serving the young miss and even mumbled about the miss’s preferences. Ye Qiu was so amused that he would have laughed out loud if he had been able to move.

"Was it you who saved me?" Ye Qiu asked as he looked around the room, observing the furnishings, the bed, and the tables and chairs, feeling as though he had arrived in ancient times, a sensation akin to time-travel.

Huan’er shook her head and replied, "It was my mistress who saved you. You should thank our mistress; to save you, she used a first-grade Crystal Stone."

"First-grade Crystal Stone?" Ye Qiu didn’t understand, not knowing what that was, but judging by Huan’er’s expression, it seemed to be something very important.

Creak!

"Ah, the mistress is back." Hearing the sound of the door opening, Huan’er immediately knew Tang Surou had arrived. She descended from her chair and hurried to the entrance, saying to Tang Surou, "Mistress, he’s awake."

Tang Surou nodded and looked towards Ye Qiu.

As natural as a lotus blossom rising out of clear water, free from the need for ornate decoration, the sight of Tang Surou’s visage struck Ye Qiu with awe, giving him a sense of timelessness.

Such a handsome woman.

Dressed in men’s garb, devoid of makeup, a single glance revealed the beauty she possessed even when attired as a woman.

"I am grateful to the mistress for saving my life," Ye Qiu said earnestly.

"It’s good that you’ve woken up," said Tang Surou, waving her hand dismissively.

Tang Surou’s unadorned elegance and her frankness in speech unconsciously generated a sense of goodwill in Ye Qiusheng.

"How are your injuries?" Tang Surou asked.

Mentioning his injuries brought a shadow over Ye Qiu’s face. Although nothing serious, with the depletion of his True Qi source, his cultivation had dissipated along with it. He had killed Qian Zang, yet paid a tremendous price simultaneously.

In his Dantian, he felt no strength, barren as a dead pond.

Nevertheless, Ye Qiu managed a smile and said, "Nothing much, I’m mostly healed. Might I ask where this place is?"

While Ye Qiu was curious about Tang Surou’s identity, he was more intrigued about where he had ended up, as he could not see any signs of modernity with a quick survey of the place.

"This is the Ancient Lands..." Tang Surou said.

"Ancient Lands..." Ye Qiu was stunned for a moment, recalling the words once spoken to him by Old Mo.

The Ancient Lands, once home to the Dugu clan and also his birthplace, Ye Qiu never expected to set foot here in such a manner.

This was the land of prodigies and the emergence of powerhouses, and also where the enemies Ye Qiu was determined to seek revenge against resided.

But at present, his cultivation completely scattered, how and when he could exact revenge was something even Ye Qiu couldn’t fathom.

A flood of emotions welled up inside him.

Seeing Ye Qiu’s furrowed brow, Tang Surou realized he was unfamiliar with the concept and didn’t explain further, instead, she changed the subject, "If you’ve not fully recovered, you may continue to recuperate here for a few more days."

Ye Qiu put aside his immediate thoughts, shook his head, and spoke slowly, "I should return to where I came from. This place...it’s not yet where I’m meant to step foot."

Tang Surou didn’t quite grasp the true meaning behind Ye Qiu’s words, and without insisting further, said, "That may be for the best. Without any friends or family here, you would feel uncomfortable staying. I will personally see you off later."

Having Ye Qiu stay at the Tang Clan for even a day was something she feared her father would discover, and with time yet before the Great Emperor’s tomb would open, there was no need to keep Ye Qiu confined here.

"Then I am indebted to the mistress," Ye Qiu thanked.
