Superhumans of the Dome City -
Chapter 358 - 358 68 Confusion_3
358: Chapter 68 Confusion_3 358: Chapter 68 Confusion_3 “Kid, you gotta pay for stuff, you get me?” The burly black store clerk slammed a large-caliber gun down on the cash register, greatly enhancing the persuasiveness of her words.
“Sorry, sorry!” The grey-haired youth quickly put down the magazine and walked out with his hands raised high.
Could the people in the dream see him?
This was different from the dreamways of the previous nights…
Not a dreamway…?
“Come on, don’t start having a node dream now!!”
Gongsun Ce held his head and screamed in the middle of the street.
He turned his head and saw someone’s glare, even less friendly than the clerk’s.
Shiyu Ling stood in front of a vending machine, arms crossed, repeatedly tapping the ground with the tip of her foot.
The female Hunter said ominously, “You just had to have a Clarity Dream before the action started—ah?!”
Gongsun Ce lunged forward, grabbing the screaming Hunter and they rolled on the ground together twice.
The next instant, a huge foot descended from the sky, turning the vending machine, the asphalt road, and half of the convenience store into mere flat images on the ground.
“I’m gonna kill you all!!” A 50-meter-tall giant creature bellowed, its voice making the ground tremble, “I’m going to destroy this damn place!!”
Three armed helicopters flew in, starting a fierce conflict with the giant.
Dozens of black-clad thugs popped up as if from underground; Wing of Death members carrying heavy weapons used the giant as cover, exchanging fire with official personnel.
In the blink of an eye, the city turned into a battlefield as civilians screamed and fled in all directions.
Having narrowly escaped death, Gongsun Ce and Shiyu Ling got to their feet and ran, shouting amidst the chaos, “How can this place still be such trash after three years?!” “It’s already better now; they’ve stopped looting food and have started breaking out of jail!!”
Gongsun Ce spotted a blue sedan 50 meters away.
He demonstrated his superb survival skills to his teammate: using a small tool, he stole the car in 30 seconds.
The two got into the car, one on each side, and took off without even closing the doors—the uproar behind them escalated, and a blast wave almost swept the car along.
Shiyu Ling saw another group join the fray from the rearview mirror, these newcomers dressed in matching white uniforms.
“Who are these idiots now?”
“They’re Light Core dimwits!” Gongsun Ce yelled, his voice straining, “The central district is Light Core’s turf; Wing of Death has crossed the line!”
“This damn place is crazier than ever after three years!”
“Is it your first day here?”
As Gongsun Ce sped the wrong way down the road, no one was about to fault him for breaking traffic laws; all the citizens were too busy trying to save their own lives.
Shiyu Ling noticed a fair number of teenagers who seemed nonchalant, probably having grown accustomed to the lunatic atmosphere over these three years.
She was about to ask what the officials were doing when she heard the youth next to her shout, “Hold tight!”
She barely grabbed the armrest as the Superpower User whipped the steering wheel with a fervor that could have knocked a driving instructor unconscious—the squealing tires protested loudly as the car cried out, turning 90 degrees.
A second later, a massive shadow loomed at the side of the vehicle as a ferocious beast dropped from the sky with a roar.
“Meow!!”
It was a Biochemical Cat, like one that had escaped from a Biohazard movie set.
It stood 10 meters tall, its fur and flesh falling off in patches, held together on the skeletal frame by green, viscous blood.
The Biochemical Cat swung its paw, demolishing a two-story building on the side of the street as if knocking over building blocks, its blood corroding the ground into terrifying pits.
“Yuck—!” Shiyu Ling screamed, “What the hell have they done?!!”
“Did I ever tell you this place often has biochemical incidents?”
“I didn’t think it would be this disgusting!”
“This is nothing.
The worst was the Biochemical Slime escape incident; you should have seen the unity of Weiyuan City that day.” The Superpower User floored the accelerator, “Cooperate or die!”
The two barely escaped the center of the battle and, in the following 20 minutes, encountered two more robberies amidst the chaos, a mass riot, and a thrilling instance of a Superpower User losing control: a little girl, terrified by the series of sudden changes, sat in the middle of the road, wailing and crying, as her uncontrollable power turned everything around her into blocks.
The last incident was handled as smoothly as possible: a team of official experts rushed in, offering considerate and swift consolation.
Shiyu Ling rolled her eyes, “The outskirts of Weiyuan City are like Heaven compared to this place.”
“Look at the Weiyuan City of old and then look at it now; doesn’t life seem beautiful?”
“No.” She shook her head, “I just think you all have nerves of steel.”
“People have to adapt to their environment; look how sensitive I was when I was a kid.”
“I can’t wait to see how sullen and…
introverted a kid you’ve become now.”
They eventually drove into the Wing District, stopping in front of an intersection shaped like a “卜”.
They were nearly at the edge of Weiyuan City, its high walls visible in the distance at the edge of the Dragon Wing.
Ahead, the road was desolate, with only a few gaudily dressed youths walking around.
To the right of the intersection was eerily empty, devoid of vehicles, lights, or any signs of human activity.
A wooden sign stood at the corner with the Empire’s script: “Dead Zone.”
Gongsun Ce and Shiyu Ling got out of the car and stood in front of that sign.
Their arrival caused a great stir, and the thugs by the roadside converged, warning them in hushed tones, “Get lost!
Quick!”
Shiyu Ling smiled dangerously, “Looking for trouble, kid?”
The lead thug was sweating bullets.
“You’re new here, you crazy bitch?!
Are you seeking death?
This is the devil’s turf!!”
