He wore a tattered leather jacket and held a paper bag full of food with one hand, staring at the rolling cans of drinks on the ground, his eyes seemingly emitting light.

“Mali Tea!

The best energy boost!” The middle-school rider, in a daring posture, leaned the bike to the side and reached for a can!

“The best energy…

huh?” Bang!

A baseball bat came flying, knocking the rider to the ground!

The motorcycle continued forward due to inertia.

“I want this one!!” A gray-skinned demon leapt down from the top of a high building.

He grabbed the baseball bat and the bag of food, kicked the unconscious rider to the side, and ran to the motorcycle.

“Nice motorcycle!!”

Shiyu Ling watched this scene from a close distance; the motorcycle rider and the gray-skinned demon were less than three meters away from her, yet they seemed to ignore her as if she wasn’t there.

The demon was about to sit on the motorcycle.

“Nice motorcycle…?” But he couldn’t reach it; his body stopped in place as though it was tied by invisible ropes.

“Who?!” No one responded, and the demon’s body flew into the air and smashed to the ground!

“Argh!” Once!

“Ah!!” Twice!!

He was slammed down eight times in one breath, rendering the demon unconscious!

Now both uninvited guests were lying on the ground, footsteps approached, and a black-haired child walked out from a side alley.

He looked slightly older than when on the refugee ship, but his expression was even more somber.

The young Gongsun Ce used telekinesis to snatch half the food from the bag and picked up a few cans of drinks, then jumped onto the motorcycle.

At that moment, she saw a gray-haired young man running from the other end of the street, glancing left and right as if assessing his environment.

Shiyu Ling whistled.

The gray-haired Gongsun Ce glanced over his younger self’s silhouette and made eye contact with her, his face immediately turning pale.

“Don’t…”

The young boy rode away on the motorcycle, leaving only a fading noise and exhaust.

Shiyu Ling crossed her arms.

“Snatching food then the bike, you’re quite skilled.”

Gongsun Ce grimaced.

“Can we forget what just happened…”

“Less talk, follow.”

Shiyu Ling strode forward, the Superpower User followed with a gloomy face.

They walked at a normal pace but easily caught up to the motorcycling child.

They followed the black-haired child as he navigated through the city, passing street after street shrouded in the smell of gunpowder, driving past unconscious people and corpses.

Occasionally, the young Gongsun Ce would stop voluntarily to pick up a relatively clean piece of clothing or search a building for survival resources.

More often, he stopped because groups of three to five gang members attacked, trying to snatch his food or motorcycle.

These Superpower Users were easily dealt with by him, the combat power between them wasn’t on the same level.

He hit the road again after defeating each enemy, not saying or doing anything extra.

This place was practically post-apocalyptic ruins; everyone was snatching resources in various forms, no trace of modern society’s order was visible.

Young Gongsun Ce stopped and started, and after more than an hour, he left this neighborhood and entered an area still under construction.

In the new district, numerous soldiers patrolled, and cranes and excavators were still operating, with most buildings unfinished.

He paused in front of the gate of the “Central District First Primary School,” taking in the newly-built playground.

Many children peeked at the outside scene.

Young Gongsun Ce did not go in; he continued riding his motorcycle aimlessly until he stopped at another deserted alleyway.

He walked deep into the dark alley, used telekinesis to clear away the water and trash, then sat down against the wall, taking out an apple.

Shiyu Ling and Gongsun Ce stood beside the child.

It was still raining; they couldn’t find umbrellas, only two raincoats.

“Is this another of your nodes?”

“I don’t think so.” The gray-haired young man said gloomily, “This is Cangshou City just after it was opened.

From this period to over three years later was a span of …

trash time for me.”

“Let me guess.

Snatching supplies, big brawls, living alone, becoming more introverted, and eventually becoming the street thug you most despise.”

“Can we skip this topic?”

Shiyu Ling watched the apple-eating child.

This once talkative kid had been hustling for almost half a day without uttering a word.

He finished the apple, curled up deep in the alley, and sobbed softly.

The renowned Demon hiding away and crying—if this could be recorded would probably sell for a high price in today’s Cangshou City.

Shiyu Ling tried to cheer herself up with such a joke, but her mood failed to lift.

Gongsun Ce spoke awkwardly, “Could you not mention this to others?”

“Am I that tasteless, big sister?”

“Ha ha.” The Superpower User chuckled dryly, “Is this the pathway between nodes right now?”

“Yes, it’s a pathway formed by fragments of memory.

Sometimes, when there’s a long gap between two nodes, such dreams appear to help you smoothly transition to the next proper Clarity Dream, allowing you a deeper understanding of your original emotions.”

These dreams needed no interference; they just had to be watched from the sidelines.

The rain became heavier, Little Gongsun Ce used telekinesis to create an umbrella for himself, forcing the two adults to find a sheltering eave to avoid the rain.

Gongsun Ce looked distressed.

“Miss Shiyu, how long will this pathway last?”

“I don’t know your circumstances.

A week, a month, a year, it’s all possible, depending on your talent.”

The rain continued endlessly.

The wind blew the raindrops everywhere, making the sheltering eave virtually useless.

Young Gongsun Ce fell asleep in the alley, the gray-haired young man crouched at the street corner.

“At this time, the orbital elevators weren’t built yet, construction was ongoing in areas outside Cangshou District.

Cangshou City was short on supplies; all the fighting was just for a bite to eat.” His eyes reflected the gray raindrops.

“The sky dome wasn’t completed either, so occasionally there were extreme weather events.

It’s just this period of time…

It’d soon be over.”

“You just stayed here alone.”

Gongsun Ce rubbed his wet hair.

“I really wished for someone to be with me when it rained, so I could show off my telekinesis by holding an umbrella for them.”

Now that dream came true, but telekinesis couldn’t be used.

“How silly.”

“Exactly.”

They stopped talking.

The rain continued.

“I’ve accompanied you through such a depressive bad day until now.”

The Superpower User didn’t respond.

Shiyu Ling nudged him with her toe.

“Still a rainy day.”

Gongsun Ce looked at the falling rain, speaking in a low voice.

“Thanks.”

“Whatever.”

Soon after, the rain stopped, and Little Gongsun Ce resumed his actions.

They observed as the child navigated through the city until day broke and the dream ended.
