223: Chapter 8 Is Such Equipment Okay?

5:00 PM, Central United University.

“Gongsun Ce, over here!”

Gongsun Ce hurriedly weaved through the campus, the pink-haired, twin-tailed girl waving at him in front of the science building.

“Qiluo, you’re here too?”

The idol tucked her hands behind her back and hopped along into the building with him.

“I didn’t get approval to leave the Sky City, but I’ll provide remote information support with the app!”

No wonder Cecil had been busy making information powers practical lately.

It seemed she had gotten wind of this a while ago.

“So that crazy woman is just waiting for this opportunity to collect data, huh?”

“I can also help out Gongsun Ce a bit, probably.” Qiluo said, not very confidently.

The elevator arrived at the fourth floor, where Gongsun Ce strode towards the steel door plastered with exaggerated slogans.

Beyond this door lay Doctor Cecil’s domain and her “pets,” the infamous Cecil Laboratory—well-known throughout the city and the world.

At the end of February, he had fought tooth and nail with Dust Explosion, a member of the laboratory.

But now, at the beginning of April, he needed help from those in white lab coats.

It wasn’t strange; after all, their conflicts were about benefits and goals, not some deep-seated blood feud.

He used to stop their experimental plans, so Cecil would set people against him.

Now that he was on official business, the lab would provide comprehensive assistance and take the opportunity to collect a batch of experimental data.

With the messy daily happenings in the city, if everyone held grudges like corpses, life would be unbearable.

The heavy iron door opened inward.

The superpower user didn’t step through but shouted, “Long time no see, researchers, I am Gongsun Ce.

Do you have my gear?”

The voice of Demon entered the lab, causing the researchers immersed in their work to look up.

After realizing it wasn’t their concern, they dived back into their scientific pursuits.

Only one researcher, a woman with gray-blue hair, set aside her work and approached.

It was Gongsun Ce’s old acquaintance, the superpower user known as “Doctor.”

The Doctor extended her hand, “Please give me your phone.”

Gongsun Ce handed over his phone, and without looking back, she passed it to one of the many respondents in lab coats: “Strengthen it within five minutes so it can function normally under regular hazardous conditions.”

Gongsun Ce asked out of habit, “Just how dangerous would it need to be for it not to hold up?”

“Above the level of a nuclear explosion.”

Thank you.

I myself can barely withstand a nuke.

The Doctor reached back, and the lab coats handed her a silver-white briefcase and a transparent, water-glossy long cloth.

She handed the cloth-like water to Gongsun Ce first.

“Nanomaterial disguise cloth, input information parameters to automatically transform and color; use with Qiluo’s app support.”

Qiluo cooperated by placing her hand on the cloth, turning it into a grey trench coat.

“The price of malleability is a reduction in strength; its defense is very low.”

Gongsun Ce put on the coat and asked, “What’s the upper limit for this thing?”

The Doctor answered matter-of-factly, “It cannot completely defend against military sniper rifle bullets.”

That’s pretty low, by your standards.

For the average superpower user, this thing could be a lifesaver.

Low murmurs about something floated from the lab coats, and comments like “I just knew this wouldn’t work…” “We should at least ensure it’s safe at a nuclear war level, right?” “The complete malleability sacrificed too much; the Doctor should reconsider…” “Hopefully, he’ll take a few hits and provide us with more data…” made Gongsun Ce’s veins pop.

Qiluo called out discontentedly, “Hey!

Could you not?”

The men and women in lab coats immediately looked up with bright smiles: “No problem, Miss Qiluo!”

Seemed like Qiluo was quite popular in Cecil Laboratory these days.

Gongsun Ce took his gaze from inside the lab and looked at the briefcase in the Doctor’s hands.

The unemotional woman opened the case, layer by layer, to show him its contents.

The first layer held ten nondescript, jelly-like lumps and a silver-white mask that looked familiar.

“Disposable bio-disguise masks, ten in total.

Maximum duration is 48 hours, can evade regular inspections and low-level power effects.

Please read the instructions before use.”

Gongsun Ce realized that these, combined with the disguise cloth, would allow him to become someone else anytime, anywhere.

He adjusted his glasses and confirmed, “Qiluo should be able to help me disguise myself using her power through the app.”

“Assuming that your mission location has consistent signal coverage, and the app can perfectly replicate her abilities.” Doctor glanced at Qiluo.

“We don’t believe that’s possible.”

The idol tapped her head, sheepishly sticking out her tongue, “It’s really tricky to operate from a distance.”

This guy is getting better and better at playing cute.

“I figured as much…

This mask looks quite familiar, huh?”

He was pretty sure it was the gear Yan Qi and Qin Qianbai used when they played the masked duo.

The Doctor picked up the mask, explaining, “Prototype Heart Phase Weapon, white face modifier 3.5.

It stabilizes the concept of ordinariness, reducing your perceived threat level to enemies.

Compared to the 2.0 model you saw on February 13th, it has been further improved; now it’s compatible with the bio-disguise masks.”

Gongsun Ce scratched his head, repeating, “Did I hear you say ‘Heart Phase Weapon’ just now?”

“Yes, please consult your teammates for the details on its use.” The Doctor remained expressionless.
