Chapter 215 - 215 5 Dream Interpretation Lower Part 2

215: Chapter 5 Dream Interpretation Lower Part 2 215: Chapter 5 Dream Interpretation Lower Part 2 Looking back now, Gongsun Ce considered it the most correct decision he had ever made in his life, perhaps unrivaled.

The capital of the sky at the beginning was a dump, and the chances of his ordinary parents surviving were slim, not to mention he himself had nearly lost his life several times.

But reason is reason, and feelings are feelings.

No matter how correct it seemed in hindsight, it didn’t alleviate the pain at the time.

Gongsun Ce remembered crying all the way after he had left, and the older brother escorting him couldn’t help but say that he was a good kid.

He had replied, “Get away from me, you bad thing.

If I’m so good, why don’t you let me go?”

“Naturally, the “bad thing” wouldn’t let him go, and he was well aware that it was not the other who was bad; he was the truly bad one.

Gongsun Ce pulled himself out of the memories of the past, only to realize that his parents had disappeared without him noticing.

The younger version of himself, though, hadn’t left but instead looked up at the grown-up him.

The black-haired boy looked very upset.

“If only I wasn’t here.”

The black-haired youth responded nonchalantly, “Indeed.

You made mum and dad worry and work hard, caused trouble to the country and society, and made everyone on the boat unhappy.

Even after arriving in the capital, you didn’t do anything good for quite a while.”

“That’s terrible…” the boy muttered a couple of words, then asked with a hint of hope, “But if I really died, would dad and mom be sad?”

Gongsun Ce answered seriously,

“Definitely.

One hundred percent.

They would be heartbroken.”

The boy, just like the current him, rubbed his hair and said a bit sheepishly,

“Then we can’t make them sad, right?

I’ll have to help them out when I get the chance.”

“I…

can’t die yet.”

The young Gongsun Ce disappeared, and where he had stood, a flickering light appeared.

This light drifted to the cover of the Book Without Words, blending into the book, finally giving it its name.

—”Self-Loathing.”

Gongsun Ce once again flipped through the book, unsurprisingly finding the pages still blank.

He shrugged his shoulders and put the book away.

Sounds of unbearable strain began to emanate from around him, and the old apartment building started to shake.

Plaster peeled off the walls, revealing the bricks beneath, and dust fell, covering the furniture with a layer of grey.

The building was about to collapse, but Gongsun Ce didn’t hurry to leave.

He knew it wouldn’t harm him.

Dreamscapes could only be understood through feelings, proof that could be trusted,

Silver-haired Miss Alandia stood by his side.

Gongsun Ce patted the book with the title, asking, “So this is my Spirit Light?

Pretty realistic, but…

I thought it would be a grander scene, like the time we were in Supibia.”

“What is Spirit Light?” asked the Knight of Dawn.

“The spirit born from the heart, the power used to engage the Impermanence Skill.”

Yan Qi had also taught some esoteric classical texts, but he said they weren’t very meaningful, and Gongsun Ce felt the same way.

“Spirit Light is power, as well as the unique wisdom and intellect of humans.

It coexists with one’s nature but also contradicts it, akin to a heart with two sides.”

In the crumbling living room, the Knight of Dawn declared, “On the day you awoke to your superpower, you first discovered your own nature.

You felt disgust towards yourself, despair towards a meaningless life.”

“But you didn’t blindly submit to the impulse of self-loathing and destruction.

Instead, you made a decision for the first time based on your own thoughts—you decided to protect your parents and face the hardships alone.”

Miss Alandia extended her hand, “This is the moment you ignited your Spirit Light.”

“…

Oh.”

Gongsun Ce was slightly embarrassed.

He lightly took her hand, then hurriedly let go, glancing away, “Thank you.”

“Don’t mention it, Ce.” The Knight of Dawn looked at his head, “I’m here to get my hat back.”

If reaching peak awkwardness could boost one’s strength, then Gongsun Ce should have already transformed three times over at that moment.

He quickly took off the deerstalker hat and returned it to the woman.

And then the old apartment collapsed completely.

Gongsun Ce’s vision blurred, and he found himself standing in an endless void.

Miss Alandia was still there, she asked, “Now, how will you interpret your dream?”

Holding his Spirit Light, Gongsun Ce felt his emotions were no longer as intense as they had been in the room.

He seemed to slowly return to his usual self, back to the person who could crack witty and lousy jokes.

Gongsun Ce pushed up his glasses and said with a smile, “Want to hear it?

How about we make a trade?

After I finish, you can interpret a dream for me.”

“Agreed.”

Gongsun Ce took out the book titled “Self-Loathing,” and said with an easy demeanor, “This book, you see, is empty, symbolizing a meaningless life; the title is Self-Loathing, which is my negative Spirit Light; but—” he turned a corner with his words, “unlike the blank pages, the appearance of this book is beautiful, and the protective layers of covers look decent enough.

These all symbolize things that I have obtained from beyond my nature, the things acquired later in life.

Like wisdom, character, abilities, goals, or other meanings…”

“It seems I’ve dressed up a bunch of blank pages quite beautifully; it looks like I’m quite adept at tormenting myself.” He concluded, “And I’ll continue down this contradictory path.”

Miss Alandia remarked, “A reasonable speculation.”

It was another reasonable speculation, not necessarily the right one.

Gongsun Ce raised his eyebrows but didn’t inquire further, and instead, with a rascal’s grin, said, “I’ve had my say, now help me interpret a dream, will you?”

“Please do.”

The black-haired youth walked around the woman twice, shaking his head and said, “Miss Alandia, in my dream I saw the Knight of Dawn sitting in my childhood room, guiding me to find the Spirit Light.

The room was just like this…”
