Superhumans of the Dome City
Chapter 209 - 209 2 Entering the Dream_2

209: Chapter 2: Entering the Dream_2 209: Chapter 2: Entering the Dream_2 He was descending into a lightless darkness, heading toward an area that was both unknown and familiar.

Pin-like thoughts convulsed in his brain, and the stinging sensation awakened memories from not long ago.

He had experienced this feeling before, in mid-February, when he drove Yan Qi’s Ink Sword into his heart…

He was on his way to the depths of his heart, plummeting towards the place where the Final Sword was sealed.

Unlike last time, this time Gongsun Ce only passed a very short time before feeling the solid ground beneath his feet.

He saw a blur before his eyes and found himself standing in front of a familiar door.

The iron door bore the number 707, the very place he resided in the Sky City.

The darkness contained only a lone door standing by itself, like a scene’s misplaced texture in a game.

He looked around and noticed some wondrous dots of light not far from himself, colorful and dazzling.

As soon as he paid attention to them, the lights started to dance, reflecting bizarre objects that instantly captivated him, drawing him closer without thinking…

Gongsun Ce quickly diverted his eyes back to the door.

He still remembered the dream-entering precautions taught by Yan Qi.

“To seek the True Spirit, one must enter the dream; where there is no light, the heart’s sea turns into a deep abyss.

All the wondrous things are but illusions; the plain and unchanging is the true essence…” That was the spell taught by the artist in black, and what he remembered even more clearly was the straightforward explanation: The heart without Spirit Light is as dark as the abyss, full of all kinds of chaotic stuff.

Stay away from all that seems abnormal, and look for the most familiar symbol.

A key appeared out of thin air in Gongsun Ce’s hand, and as he unlocked the door, he wondered what would happen if he really encountered those dots of light.

Could it drive one insane, or even lead to genuine madness?

The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed.

He shivered and quickly stepped through the door into the dream.

The dizzying feeling came over him once more, but this time Gongsun Ce was slightly more accustomed to it.

He found that the lights in his living room were not on, yet it was incredibly lively, with four people huddled around a square table in the dark, engaged in some activity.

Upon seeing Gongsun Ce, they chorused, “You’re finally here, Gongsun Ce.

Everyone’s been waiting for you!”

The Superpower User kept a steady expression and smiled, “Sorry to keep everyone waiting; give me a moment to turn on the light.”

As the words fell, the lights turned on automatically.

The room brightened up, allowing him to see the faces of the four guests.

Directly facing him was an indistinct mosaic, its shape constantly trembling, like an old television screen that had lost its signal, or a video file that had messed up and been transported into the real world.

The mosaic monster emitted a girl’s voice, “Wow, it’s so bright!”

The contrast made Gongsun Ce shiver.

He hurriedly turned to the other three people, only to find that none of those sitting in his home looked remotely human!

“Awoo!” Sitting to the left of the mosaic creature was a wild beast-shaped flame, burning his beloved furniture and roaring repeatedly, incapable of speaking any human language.

To the right floated a large white robe, stained with dirty blood, beneath which there was nothingness where a body should be, and where a face should have been, a half-gold, half-gray beautiful mask was affixed.

Through the mask, the robed figure watched him with a smile in its voice, “Having nightmares again, Gongsun?”

It was hard to claim this was anything but a nightmare.

A child seeing their home like this might cry themselves awake.

Gongsun Ce chuckled, “Hahaha, how could it be, Mr.

Gongsun here has been having quite good sleep quality lately…

Thanks for your concern, Mr.

Shiyu.”

The robe creature casually accepted the name and started discussing the topic of card games with him.

It seemed like the guests were in his home playing a card game, just missing one more player.

“Gongsun Ce, we’re just missing you~” “Won’t you join us for a game, Gongsun?” “Awoo, awoo!” The three creatures warmly invited him, while the one that had been facing away from him remained silent.

Gongsun Ce scrutinized the last monster, which appeared particularly unusual: it wasn’t even a living being.

It was a person-height piece of wood, into which countless cold weapons were densely inserted, their sharp tips facing everything but the wood itself, which also had the other ends of the weapons pushed into its own body.

Atop of the wood was a piece of crude crayon drawing, fixed with tape, depicting a childishly drawn smiley face.

Gongsun Ce felt even chillier.

He forced a smile and said, “Everyone’s dressed quite uniquely today, eh?”

“You look different from usual too!” the mosaic creature cheerfully said, “I have a mirror, want to take a look?”

He firmly rejected the offer, with an almost brusque tone.

The monsters didn’t get angry; they just kept on inviting him over and over to “play a game.”

Gongsun Ce almost agreed on the spot.

He genuinely thought it was a good suggestion and even unconsciously took a couple of steps forward, but he still remembered his purpose.

“Just a moment, I need to pick something up from my room.”

With that casual excuse, he headed for the bedroom door—

“Ah Ce, are you going inside?”

At that moment, a familiar voice came from behind.

As expected, it was Qin Qianbai’s words.

“If you go further in, you’re going to encounter something unpleasant,” the young lady’s voice warned, “It might make you sad.”

Gongsun Ce fell silent for a few seconds.

“Thanks, Miss.

I’ll just take a quick look inside, and I’ll be right back.”

Suppressing the urge to look back, he pushed open the bedroom door and stepped in without turning his head.

In an instant, the disorienting feeling of the scene shifting surged anew.
