Superhumans of the Dome City -
Chapter 205 - 205 1 Tripartite Meeting
205: Chapter 1 Tripartite Meeting 205: Chapter 1 Tripartite Meeting Liu Zhongwu sat at a triangular table and, unsurprisingly, found himself the earliest to arrive again.
This was the 77th floor of the Cangshou District Integrated Office Building.
Ten years ago, when constructing the Sky City, the United States provided a large amount of material and technological support and sent their proudly modern talents to participate in the entire project, including world-renowned biochemists, parapsychologists, ordnance art engineers, and new-age architects—a type of elite that integrated modern architectural knowledge with ancient mystical thought.
Ustus’s new-age architects worked sincerely with the Yong Guang Empire’s diviners and the Morton Royal Mages to plan a modern urban blueprint unprecedented in history, ensuring the smooth operation of the city’s major arrays.
Both officially and personally, Liu Zhongwu thought they did a good job.
After all, there had never been a precedent in human history for building a city in the sky, and their Flying City had been operational for nearly ten years.
But there was one aspect he just had to grumble about…
Ustus’s old gentlemen brought their unique superstitions into the architectural planning, such as requiring a special person to consecrate every tenth room, having spare handwritten notes and pencils on each floor, and not allowing elevators in important buildings to have floor buttons with “7”.
He still remembered arguing about the topic with the foreign architects.
“You should trust me, as I am the most authoritative Calamity Mage officially of the Empire, I assure you that the number ‘7’ will not bring any unlucky omens.
It won’t cause you to lose hair, won’t raise your blood pressure, and certainly won’t have you opening a door on the 7th or 77th floor only to encounter a giant dragon that has just descended.”
The old expert from the United States claimed that it was him who didn’t understand; either respect the mystical ideas summarized by the ancestors of the United States, or he could wash his hands off the project and the collaboration would fall apart.
The good-tempered Liu Zhongwu chose the former, which is why every time he went to the 77th floor, he had to take a secret elevator from inside his office—the public elevator didn’t even have that button, and regular staff couldn’t get there.
Now he sat alone in the building’s most unlucky floor, at a triangular conference table in a hidden room, waiting for representatives from the other two countries to come for the meeting.
Today’s meeting venue was personally designated by Liu Zhongwu, and he wanted to use this number despised by Ustus to express his determination: the Empire was done beating around the bush.
If they couldn’t come to an agreement this time, there would be no need for further talks.
The Empire’s senior minister waited patiently, and half a minute before the appointed time, one edge of the triangular table lit up, projecting the image of a middle-aged man.
He wore a standard suit with hair combed neatly and sported a beautiful small mustache.
His smooth facial skin made it difficult to imagine he was a man just over fifty.
A warm diplomatic smile appeared on the face of Ustus’s foreign minister: “Good morning, Director Liu Zhongwu.”
Liu Zhongwu smiled back: “Good morning, Minister Slientro Anoya.”
After a brief exchange, the two waited together for the representative from Morton.
Just one second before the clock pointed to nine, the last person’s projection appeared.
Her greetings, along with the tone signaling the start of the meeting, sounded together: “Good morning, Director Liu Zhongwu.
Good morning, Minister Slientro Anoya.”
Compared to the other two, Morton’s representative looked especially unique: a beautiful young girl no more than in her early twenties with golden blonde short hair.
She wore silver armor, bore a heavy sword, and in appearance, resembled a noble knight who had walked off a medieval battlefield, not a diplomat discussing the allocation of interests at the negotiating table in the 21st century.
Yet, the two middle-aged men would not underestimate her in the slightest.
No one had the right to belittle a Knight who had fought against a Monarch, nor did anyone have the courage to underestimate a Creation Realm Level Impermanence Mage.
“The Seventh Knight of the Morton Royal Knights, Orianna Cavon, representing Her Majesty the Queen, to participate in today’s tripartite talks.”
After stating her opening words, the golden-haired female knight fell silent.
A tightness gripped Slientro’s heart, knowing that today’s meeting would not end well.
The Country usually sent Knight Gafri to meetings, a rustic and upright middle-aged man, whose negotiating skills at the table were as sharp as his martial prowess on the dueling field, making him a formidable opponent.
But Knight Orianna was different…
She sat at the table with the demeanor of an expert, saying nothing beyond the agenda and conditions, subtly reminding one of the former Dawn Knight.
The Country sending her meant it wasn’t here to discuss, but to state its stance.
“Oh, I really didn’t expect Miss Orianna to come today.” Slientro spoke with a smile, trying to gain an upper hand in the negotiations, “In accordance with the agenda, the first matter we will discuss is…
the follow-up investigation into the case of the Zero Island Shiyu Research Institute.”
Liu Zhongwu tapped the tabletop, leaving no room for doubt as he said.
“Minister Slientro, now is not the time for discussion.
The incident with the Shiyu Research Institute involves a significant mystery, with many behind-the-scenes implications, and you are surely clearer on that than I am.
It’s been over a month since the Colored Glaze Disaster struck, and you have all seen the report from Yiji Hall once; do I need to reiterate how serious an incident involving a Monarch Level Dragon Disaster is?”
“Of course there’s no need, Director Liu Zhongwu,” Ustus’s diplomat replied gravely, “But I must also remind you that the Yong Guang Empire, in pursuit of slaying dragons, deliberately allowed the descent of a giant dragon…”
