Superhumans of the Dome City
Chapter 113 - 113 27 I Thought I Was

113: Chapter 27 I Thought I Was 113: Chapter 27 I Thought I Was “Hey, Lianyi?

Where are we heading next?”

The hastily concocted excuse, no matter how reasonable, couldn’t conceal the oddity of his previous behavior.

Kardesia knew him too well.

He had been found out after all.

“…!”

Shiyu Lianyi even wanted to confess then and there, but the setting was all wrong.

There wasn’t a normal man alive who would tell a girl “I want to go on a date with you today” in front of a baby cot at a furniture store.

Should he continue to tell lies now that she has seen through him?

Gongsun could surely keep a straight face and do so in front of a girl, but it was hard for him to keep up the act in front of Kardesia.

This was arguably the most challenging mission he’d ever undertaken…

and the most frustrating part was his usually agile mind had frozen up right then.

Shiyu Lianyi was never good at sweet-talking girls!

Otherwise, why would there be no progress after three and a half years of pining for the one he secretly admired!

“Anyway… can you trust me, Kardesia?”

Better to come up with some kind of stopgap…

and use the time to slowly, bit by bit, put together a plausible, logical, and style-consistent excuse!

“Of course, I trust you, Lianyi~”

He found it difficult to look directly at her smile.

The current situation was like walking a tightrope; one false step could send him plummeting into the abyss!

“What’s next~ I wonder~”

Kardesia didn’t dawdle this time; she almost dragged her friend out of the furniture outlet, her eyes sparkling with a familiar light—the sign that she was intrigued by something.

She was full of expectancy about what was to come, which might have been good news, but what exactly was on her mind was another question Mr.

Shiyu didn’t want to delve into…

Shiyu Lianyi, with a blush of embarrassment, and Kardesia, humming a tune, exited the furniture outlet, and what he first saw at the exit dealt another brutal blow to his already fragile stomach.

There was a pink toy bear the size of an adult.

It stood on its hind legs, shaking its upper body as if it had just finished some strenuous exercise, trying hard to catch its breath.

When the bear saw them come out, it perked up and said in a cutesy voice.

“Hello~ you guys~ I, I am, here to give gifts to couples, the Pink Bear~kuma!”

Thank you, Miss Qiluo.

To make it to the furniture outlet exit before we came out must have been tough.

Managing to get a third mascot costume that didn’t exist and buying movie tickets at the last minute, working so hard for someone you’ve only known for a few days…

really, really, thank you.

But, Miss Qiluo, there’s one thing, something that just can’t be overlooked.

“Hey there, you lovey-dovey pair~ Pink Bear wants to give you a little present~kuma~”

Shiyu Lianyi reluctantly averted his gaze from the bear waving the movie tickets.

—Your voice, it hasn’t changed at all!!!

“Ha ha!

How cute~ Pink Bear~” Kardesia laughed heartily, “But Lianyi and I are not a couple.

So, you can’t give your gift, can you?”

“…”

The pink toy bear seemed not to have anticipated being questioned like that.

It stared at Shiyu Lianyi with its dull, big, black eyes, forlornly asking, “…what, what should I do?”

Don’t ask me!!!

Shiyu Lianyi suppressed the impulse to cover his face with his hands.

With a sidelong glance from around him teasing his plight, he persisted, “Pink Bear is, friendly towards friends of the opposite sex as well, right?”

“Just, just that, kuma!

Here, these two movie tickets are a token of friendship for you!!”

The young man in the suit hurriedly reached out to take the tickets to end this cringeworthy performance as soon as possible.

“Don’t rush, Lianyi.”

Kardesia caught his wrist.

The blond and top-hatted woman leaned towards the plush bear and said with a mischievous grin, “Sorry, but we’re not planning to watch a movie today!

How about you give those tickets to some other lucky ones?

Or do you have another gift~?”

“…”

Pink Bear turned to look at Mr.

Shiyu again.

“How, what should we do?”

So I told you, don’t ask me!!!

The man in the suit finally couldn’t resist covering his face.

“Kardesia, don’t be hard on her…”

“Ha ha, ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha ha!”

In stark contrast to her disheartened companion, the top-hatted woman was laughing like a villain.

“Thanks, little bear~ Then Lianyi will take these tickets; no problem, right?”

“Oh, oh, alright.”

Mr.

Shiyu received the movie tickets with a sense of despair.

Whether it was his mood or not, the tickets felt unusually heavy in his hand.

“Wow!

It’s an open ticket to any movie, that’s really nice~ What floor is the cinema on again, Lianyi?”

·

The cinema was on the fourth floor of the building.

To facilitate their plan, Mr.

Shiyu’s staff had specifically hidden the costumes on the fourth-floor clothing store the night before—thanks to Gongsun Ce’s silver tongue, convincing the store staff to keep two mascot outfits temporarily hadn’t taken much effort.

Now, the two hastily arrived superpower users were frantically changing into their costumes in the fitting rooms.

Gongsun Ce was half buried in the blue bear costume, only the head remaining to be put on.

He spoke into the communicator for what seemed like the umpteenth time: “Hello?

Miss Qiluo, are you there?”

“I’m here, I’m here!” He finally received a response, and the flustered reply of the pink-haired girl came through the earpiece, “I…”

“What are Shiyu Jun and the others doing now?

How far has the plan progressed?”

“Shiyu Lianyi and Kardesia have gone to the cinema!

I’m sorry, I moved up the furniture store’s plan, but it seems to have been unsuccessful…”

“Don’t apologize; it’s not your fault.

From now on, leave it to us!”

Gongsun Ce was filled with regret.

He should have anticipated Miss Qin’s reaction, really should have arranged the next steps of the plan before taking action.

The chain reaction caused by Shiyu Ling’s elimination turned all subsequent plans into a tangled mess.

How could Miss Qiluo cope with such a situation alone?

Fortunately, they had a backup plan to patch things up.

Miss Qiluo said the two had gone to the cinema, but she didn’t have any movie tickets, which meant…

“Miss, Miss Qiluo lured the two of them to the cinema!

I appeared just now and might be recognized by that Kardesia guy, so you’re on for the task of delivering tickets and building relationships!”

The door to the changing room opened, and Miss Qin, dressed in a red mascot costume, emerged.

Without a word, she put on a large bear head and took two movie tickets from the paw…

hand of Gongsun Ce, who was disguised as a blue toy bear.

Due to the head cover, Qin Qianbai’s voice sounded muffled.

“Ah Ce will assist, depending on the situation.”

“Leave it to me!”

The red and blue toy bears charged out of the clothes shop amid the astonished looks of the customers.

They were running for the sake of their friend’s romance!

·

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the clothes shop, a junior high school student faced the peak of his unlucky day.

Three muscular men in black clothes cornered him, the leader with blonde hair said coarsely, “Kid, do you know who we are?”

Milais’ gaze swept over the three men’s black attire and the wing-shaped tattoos prominently displayed on them.

He immediately recalled his senior’s teachings about the terrifying superpower users and the “organization” some of them had created.

The boy in the cap shivered as he responded, “You…

you are…

Wing, Wing of Death…”

“Smart, that makes things simpler.” The blonde thug cracked his knuckles, “Tell me, where is the long-haired man?

Where did the boss’s Walkman go?!”

The junior high student burst into tears on the spot.

“I don’t know!

He’s gone!!

The Walkman was taken by a bear!

A toy bear took it!

It, it transformed into two movie tickets, I have no idea how!”

The three members of Wing of Death exchanged glances.

The crew-cut muscle man said benignly, “Are you trying to say the Walkman turned into movie tickets?”

Milais nodded desperately.

“It was taken by a big toy bear?”

Milais continued to nod frantically, “It, it said it would return it immediately after using it!

Just wait a bit, it will definitely, definitely come back…”

The crew-cut man’s smile grew wider as Milais’ voice got softer.

“OK, OK.” It seems like Wing of Death hasn’t been active in a while if even brats like this are spinning tales to us.

No worries, a little hardship and you’ll speak the truth—”

“Look!

Look!!”

His speech was cut off mid-sentence as the burly driver slapped his back hard in panic.

“What the hell are you—”

He turned his head, the swear word half out of his mouth, only to freeze along with the others.

They saw two adult-sized toy bears zooming down the corridor, their vigorous strides like sprinting champions of the teddy bear world.

Two long strips of paper fluttered in the paws of the red bear, looking very much like movie tickets.

Wing of Death’s trio all had decent vision.

They watched and watched again, finally confirming that those were indeed two movie tickets stuck together.

The burly driver shouted, “Bear!

Toy bear!!”

The blonde thug kicked him in the backside, “Chase it!

Chase!!”

The three black-clad musclemen immediately rushed out, and the cap-wearing boy stood with his mouth wide open, “No, not that one!

Wrong!

Wrong!!”

·

The two superpower users, running towards the movie theatre, heard the increasing noise of pursuit.

Miss Qin (in her red mascot bear guise) looked back.

“Stop right there, dammit!!”

“Wrong!

Wrong!!!!”

Behind them, the three men in black charged furiously, their faces contorted as if they had just spotted their father’s killer from a decade ago.

Trailing far behind them was a panting junior high student, apparently trying desperately to stop the three thugs’ actions.

The lead blonde thug pointed at her and yelled, “Hand over the movie tickets!!!!!”

What exactly happened?

In that instant, Miss Qin swiftly pieced together the information she had just acquired.

There were three members of Wing of Death.

She had two tickets in her hand.

The one chasing them was a junior high student who had been robbed.

The conclusion to be drawn was—

“Ah Ce, thugs trying to sneak into the movies have set their sights on our tickets.”

Pop!

The blue mascot bear spread its arms wide, intercepting the three men in black with the grandeur of a giant god descending!

“Let’s be calm, gentlemen, I believe there’s some misunderstanding between us—”

“Step aside, it’s none of your business!!”

The blonde thug drew a pistol!

The crew-cut man pulled out nunchaku!

The burly driver growled as he unleashed his power!

How frightening!

The tone of the blue mascot bear was no longer so friendly.

“I showed goodwill by wanting to resolve this peacefully through negotiation, and this is your response?

True to the style of Wing of Death, you haven’t changed a bit over the years.

Even a grade school child knows more about manners than you three grown men.”

Wing of Death’s trio looked at each other.

“Ah, manners?”

The burly and crew-cut men laughed uproariously while the blonde thug pressed the gun to the blue mascot bear’s head, laughing, “Idiot, do you think you’re the Demon?!”

The boy in the cap finally caught up.

He had just heard the last exchange and recognized the voice from inside the mascot bear.

“He, he, he…”

The blue mascot bear removed its head cover.

The men in black saw their smiles vanish bit by bit, their hands and legs trembling just like the junior high student who had just been cornered.

Milais whispered faintly, “He really is…”
