Chapter 79: A Predator Demands

"Tch... a bunch of silver-ranked trash."

Dawn stood motionless. The sky above him was a swirling abyss of darkness, the starlight barely cutting through the storm clouds. A hail of arrows descended, their sharp tips gleaming like falling stars, but his expression remained indifferent.

Then, his ocean-blue eyes flickered—two smoldering embers igniting into crimson suns.

A sharp sizzle cut through the night.

A single, pulsating red beam flashed.

Before the attackers could even react, their bodies were split cleanly in two. A heartbeat later—boom!—they burst into particles of light, fading into nothingness.

The arrows continued their descent, yet they might as well have been autumn leaves drifting against an immovable wall. Each one crumbled upon contact, falling uselessly at Dawn’s feet.

The scattered onlookers gasped, their voices a mix of awe and horror.

"He really did it..." one whispered.

"The Red Caped Demon has lost his mind. There’s no way he’s leaving this place alive," another murmured, his voice laced with disbelief.

Dawn exhaled slowly, ignoring the chatter like distant echoes in the wind. He had no interest in these weaklings.

Then, his voice cut through the silence, powerful and unwavering.

"Leader of the Flowing Swamp... come outside and accept your death."

The words weren’t a request. They were a declaration.

The compound trembled under the weight of his presence.

---

Inside the dimly lit chamber of Flowing Swamp’s headquarters, a man sat on an ornate throne, his fingers drumming against the armrest. Hours had passed, and yet, there was no sign of the Red Caped Demon.

Leader’s patience wore thin.

"Was this woman lying?" he muttered, his sharp eyes narrowing as he turned to the seductive figure standing beside him.

Before he could voice his suspicions, the woman turned, her lips curling into an amused smirk.

"He’s here."

Barely a second passed before Dawn’s arrogant voice echoed from outside.

Leader’s expression twisted as if he had just swallowed poison.

"This fucking trash dares to act so arrogantly?"

In a flash, his form blurred—vanishing from the throne.

The woman chuckled softly, her gaze gleaming with intrigue before she followed suit.

"Well, well... things are about to get interesting."

---

The news of the Red Caped Demon’s arrival spread like wildfire.

Inside a bustling restaurant within the station, members of the Unity Awakeners Alliance sat gathered around a circular table, the air thick with frustration.

Alex leaned back with a heavy sigh, his expression grim. Beside him, Mira’s face darkened, while Jasmine remained expressionless—though the flicker in her eyes betrayed her thoughts.

Days of effort, and they had failed to recruit a single member for their fledgling organization.

Alex hesitated before glancing at Jasmine. He cleared his throat.

"Our organization is still new... once our great leader’s name spreads, warriors will definitely come flocking to us."

Jasmine exhaled slowly. She knew Alex meant well, but his words only deepened her doubts.

"Do I really have no other choice?" she mused, gripping her cup tighter.

Then—

Bang!

The restaurant doors slammed open.

A panting man stumbled inside, his face flushed with excitement.

"Huff! The Red Caped Demon has finally appeared!"

For a second, the room fell silent. Then—

An explosion of voices.

Gasps. Shouts. The scraping of chairs as people rushed toward the door.

At the table, Jasmine’s eyes flashed with something unreadable.

Mira, however, went pale.

"This is bad," she muttered. She could still recall the enormous bounty placed on Dawn’s head by Flowing Swamp.

"What the hell is he thinking?"

Without hesitation, she rose to her feet, pushing past the crowd as she hurried outside.

Alex’s brows furrowed as he watched her leave.

"...Does she care about him that much?"

A troubling thought crossed his mind, but he quickly shook it off.

No. Impossible.

The Red Caped Demon couldn’t possibly be a member of Flowing Swamp.

Right?

---

The fiery red cap atop Dawn’s head burned like a beacon, casting flickering embers into the night.

Before him, a single survivor remained. A silver-ranked warrior, trembling, his knees threatening to give out.

Dawn’s gaze was cold, emotionless.

"Do you want to live?"

The man nodded so furiously it was a wonder his head didn’t snap off.

"Good."

Dawn pointed at the scattered stat crystals littering the ground.

"Collect them. All of them."

The man didn’t hesitate, scrambling like a starving beast, hands moving frantically as he scooped up every last crystal.

Once the pile was gathered, he handed them over with shaking fingers.

Dawn took them without a word, storing them within his Great Universe.

Then, he waved a dismissive hand.

"Go."

The man bolted as if death itself was at his heels.

Dawn wasn’t a mindless butcher. Letting one or two escape was inconsequential.

But then—

His eyes narrowed.

A presence.

Boom!

Like a meteor crashing from the heavens, a figure descended, landing mere meters away. The ground trembled beneath the impact.

The Leader of Flowing Swamp had arrived.

Shining golden armor gleamed under the moonlight, reflecting the flames still flickering in the air. Yet, despite the carnage around them, the Leader’s expression was calm. Unbothered.

Their eyes met. A silent clash of wills.

Then, the Leader’s lips curled into a slow, mocking grin.

"Very good... Red Caped Demon."

His voice was smooth, yet laced with venom.

"You’ve truly embarrassed me before my people." His grin widened. "I’ll make sure your death is as agonizing as possible."

The air around him vibrated.

"Fire Lance."

A flick of his wrist.

Dozens of blazing pillars erupted into existence, hovering ominously in the air. Each one was as thick as a man’s waist, their heat distorting the space around them.

The temperature rose instantly. The scent of charred wood filled the night.

Dawn’s eyes flickered with interest.

A fire-class ability, huh?

The Leader mistook his silence for fear.

"Begone, pest."

With a snap of his fingers, the flaming lances whirled around him like a raging inferno before shooting toward Dawn at terrifying speed.

Then—

Boom!

An explosion rocked the compound, the blinding light swallowing everything in its path.

From the distance, the onlookers watched in silent anticipation.

None of them were surprised.

From the moment the Leader appeared, they had already known the outcome.
