Chapter 905: Chapter 915: Entering the Tomb! (Second Update)
Liu Zuo and Liu Longgang were thus dismissed.
Tang Zhong, on the other hand, got into Gu Jin’s car.
As for Madina, Tang Zhong decided not to look for her for now. Seeking her out now would only cause trouble; it was better to leave things as they were for the moment.
Inside the car.
Although Tang Zhong was reuniting with Gu Jin after some time, and Gu Jin offered to treat him to a meal, Tang Zhong declined.
Right now, for Tang Zhong, the developments beneath the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum were the top priority.
"By the way, what exactly happened under the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum?" Tang Zhong couldn’t help but ask.
"There are residents living near the Mausoleum, and for some time now, strange growls have been echoing from beneath it. The ground has been caving in, and several villagers fell underground and never returned!" Gu Jin explained.
"Something like that happened?" Tang Zhong asked in surprise.
The underground Imperial Mausoleum was supposed to house the Emperor’s terracotta warriors; how could there be growling sounds?
It seemed that something had gone terribly wrong beneath the Mausoleum—something major.
"Yes. Recently, Azure Dragon went down to investigate the Mausoleum and specifically requested for you to come as well!" Gu Jin added.
If Azure Dragon had called him over, it must mean serious trouble!
"Where is Azure Dragon now?" Tang Zhong inquired.
"He went below the Mausoleum and hasn’t responded since!" Gu Jin replied.
"Alright, take me there!" Tang Zhong commanded immediately.
What exactly lay beneath the Mausoleum?
Previously, General Peng Yuan had mentioned that there was a massive raw stone deposit down there.
It seemed he would have to check it out for himself underground.
However, the thought of the black-robed figure who tried to kill Madina earlier crossed Tang Zhong’s mind, and he couldn’t help but frown. Where had that person come from?
It didn’t seem as though killing Madina was their sole objective—more like a coincidence that led to their demise by his hand. It appeared Anzai was far from peaceful. Clearly, someone else had their eyes on the Dragon Group’s underground raw stone resources!
But that black-robed figure was truly grotesque—nothing like a normal human being, almost like... an alien.
Meanwhile, in a dilapidated building in Anzai.
Three black-robed figures huddled together in what seemed like a meeting.
One was fat and the other two thin, with one of the thin ones appearing to be their leader.
"Where’s that Blood Toad?"
The leader asked.
"He’s dead!" the fat man replied.
"What happened?" The leader’s voice immediately turned icy.
"When he arrived in Anzai, he ran into a girl performing at a concert. You know him; he enjoys feeding on blood. So, he struck, claiming he’d be back shortly. After all, she was just a Xuan Country native—dead is dead. The two of us waited nearby for him, but he never returned. When we went to check, we found only a puddle of blood where he once stood!" the fat man continued.
"That useless idiot! Someone already buried once, still messing around like that?!" the leader snarled, his teeth grinding in frustration.
"Do you know who killed him? Did you see clearly?" the leader questioned sharply.
"We didn’t get a clear look—the attacker was too fast. After killing him, they vanished, but... it seemed like someone from the Dragon Group!" the fat man responded.
"I see. Our scouts managed to locate a raw stone deposit here in Anzai after so much effort. We absolutely have to secure it all. Lord Giger sent us for this mission, and we must deliver results!" the leader declared.
"Understood!"
"Besides, Lord Giger stated that if we manage to seize these raw stones, the Yun Country’s Life Project can finally begin. At that point, the entire world will be under our control. Even the martial artists won’t escape us, and we will become heroes of Yun Country!" the leader added.
The mention of this made the others’ eyes burn with excitement.
"Alright, let’s move out!"
Back on the other side, Tang Zhong had already been brought to the entrance of the underground Mausoleum.
Gu Jin had initially proposed taking Tang Zhong on a sightseeing tour elsewhere, but Tang Zhong insisted on coming here, so Gu Jin brought him immediately.
The Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum was a truly magnificent site. The First Emperor’s reign had been one that shook the entire world.
It was said to have been the most powerful nation in the world at the time.
Even in death, the Emperor built a massive tomb. This Mausoleum was famed across Xuan Country as one of its greatest burial sites.
For years, the tomb had remained unopened.
It was all shrouded in secrecy!
Now, however, there was supposedly a raw stone deposit beneath the underground Mausoleum. This revelation puzzled Tang Zhong even further.
What could Azure Dragon have discovered that necessitated his presence here? This was the mystery.
When Azure Dragon called him over, he hadn’t told anyone else what had happened. Clearly, it was a top-secret matter, one so sensitive that Azure Dragon didn’t trust anyone else with it.
Accompanied by the staff, Tang Zhong entered the underground Mausoleum.
The areas above had been almost fully excavated—they were now essentially a tourist attraction.
None of this was a secret anymore.
Within several large pits lay rows of terracotta warriors alongside a few ancient vehicles.
Before long, Tang Zhong arrived at the spot where Azure Dragon had descended.
It was a pit—deep and narrow, much like the ones grave robbers dig to loot tombs.
Ropes and pulleys were installed above, allowing people to lower themselves down the shaft.
Gu Jin approached the staff nearby, exchanged a few words, and returned to Tang Zhong’s side.
"Instructor Tang, those are Dragon Group personnel brought here by Azure Dragon. I explained your identity to them, and they’ve agreed to let you pass. However, I can’t follow you down—my clearance level isn’t high enough. Be careful down there!" Gu Jin advised.
"Understood!"
Tang Zhong nodded.
It seemed tasks involving raw stones truly weren’t simple.
Soon, Tang Zhong stepped onto the pulley platform, and the staff began controlling the ropes, lowering him down the pit.
The ropes creaked ominously as they uncoiled. In front of Tang Zhong, light glimmered against the pit walls, illuminated by glowing objects embedded in the structure. With limited oxygen underground, the stones seemed to be used in place of lighting.
After descending for some time—he couldn’t tell how deep—Tang Zhong suddenly felt a suffocating sensation. It seemed he had reached the deeper chambers of the tomb.
He must be close to the bottom.
Soon, a vast scene unfolded before Tang Zhong’s eyes, leaving him utterly stunned.
Below was a colossal underground space.
From a distance, it appeared far larger than the areas visible in the tourist sections above ground—perhaps countless times larger.
There wasn’t a single living soul here—or rather, few dared to venture to such depths.
The radiance in the chamber came from the gemstones embedded within.
Countless terracotta warriors stood in orderly rows within the pits, alongside well-preserved bronze chariots that bore no signs of verdigris. There were likely over a thousand of them, and in the distance, there seemed to be a path leading further in.
It appeared this space extended far beyond what could be seen.
Stepping off the platform, Tang Zhong quickly began following the path ahead.
He could already sense the raw stone’s distinctive power.
