Chapter 845: Chapter 855: Sweater! (First Update)
Regarding Tang Zhong being rescued, Giger was left speechless and could do nothing but allow Peng Yuan to take him away.
Five days later, inside a hospital, Tang Zhong opened his eyes, discovering himself lying on a bed. He looked around; this wasn’t Hell. He let out a long sigh of relief, confirming he was still alive!
All he remembered was that some time ago, he faced death head-on—countless rockets and bombs all targeted him. At the time, he had no idea how he managed to survive!
Fortunately, he didn’t die. Fate had been unbelievably kind to Tang Zhong.
It meant that during all this time, he had been in a deep sleep. In his dreams, he repeatedly heard Weiwei’s joyful voice. She must have been delighted to see Hugo dead, he thought.
Thinking about this, Tang Zhong couldn’t help but smile.
Now, the task was to bring Weiwei back to life.
In that Kunlun Hanging Coffin lay a profound mystery. The ten Flame Dragon Soldiers had claimed resurrection was possible, so it must be possible.
Tang Zhong absolutely wouldn’t give up. His priority was finding the remaining eight stones as quickly as possible.
He already had three of them.
Tang Zhong reached out to find the stones, but realized they were no longer on him.
Where were they?
Only then did Tang Zhong notice he was wearing different clothes—not the tattered outfit from before, but hospital attire.
Just then, a female nurse walked in through the door.
Seeing Tang Zhong awake, she froze in shock. She knew this man had been in the hospital, sound asleep, for a full five days.
This was the Dragon Group’s private hospital, usually accommodating Dragon Group members injured during missions. But she had never encountered someone so badly hurt before. Who knows what this man had been through—his body showed no visible injuries, yet he had slept for five days straight. Moreover, General Peng Yuan specifically ordered that they notify him immediately once this guy woke up.
"Don’t move—you’ve just recovered!" the nurse said.
Seeing the nurse, Tang Zhong promptly asked, "Where’s my clothes?"
"Your clothes... hold on a moment!" The nurse got up, walked over to a cabinet nearby, and retrieved the clothes Tang Zhong had previously worn.
Tang Zhong carefully rummaged through his clothes but couldn’t find the three stones.
Where were the stones?
After giving Tang Zhong the items, the nurse quickly left to inform Peng Yuan.
Tang Zhong could only search on his own. Those stones were essential, and they should’ve been on him—how could they be lost?
Not long after learning that Tang Zhong had woken up, General Peng Yuan and others rushed into the room.
Zhang Changgong, Vermilion Bird, and the others dropped whatever they were working on and rushed over as soon as they heard the news.
The hospital room quickly filled with people.
Each one greeted Tang Zhong warmly.
"Kid, you’re finally awake!" Li Linglong, who had previously been beaten severely by Hugo—his bones shattered and nearly killed—appeared now leaning on a crutch, having been rescued.
Even Monkey threw his arms around Tang Zhong and started crying, "Brother Tang, you absolutely must not scare us like that again!"
Even Vermilion Bird, the young woman, couldn’t help but feel stirred seeing Tang Zhong alive. She knew why Tang Zhong had gone to Yun Country—it was for the already deceased Jiang Weiwei. If Weiwei hadn’t died, she’d undoubtedly be moved to tears at this moment. After all, no woman could resist a man like this.
General Peng Yuan smiled as he looked at Tang Zhong, extending his hand. "Young man Tang, you’re finally awake!"
"Yes!" Tang Zhong replied with a smile. Then he asked again, "How did I get here?"
"General Peng Yuan rescued you from Giger’s hands. Shouldn’t you thank him?" Zhang Changgong added with a grin.
Tang Zhong looked at Peng Yuan. Though he didn’t know what the old man had done, the danger back then had been immense. Giger’s presence alone meant Peng Yuan must’ve faced enormous pressure to bring him back.
Immediately, Tang Zhong prepared to get out of bed to express his gratitude. "Thank you, General Peng Yuan!"
"Oh, enough. Why be so formal with an old guy like me?" Peng Yuan retorted, glaring.
Tang Zhong just chuckled. This time, he truly owed General Peng Yuan a debt—one life. Someday, he would repay it.
"By the way, General, I recall I had a few stones with me. Do you know where they might be?" Tang Zhong asked.
If Peng Yuan had brought him back, then he should know everything.
"Stones? I didn’t see any!" Peng Yuan replied, puzzled.
"Could they be lost?" Tang Zhong’s expression darkened slightly.
Now that the ten Flame Dragon Soldiers were in their dormant state, no one knew when they might awaken. They had tasked him with finding those eight stones—he once had three of them, but now they were gone.
This wouldn’t do!
"I have to go to Woer Town!" Tang Zhong insisted, convinced that the stones were lost there.
"No way. You must rest now. Moreover, Woer Town has been completely reduced to ruins," General Peng Yuan said. "And I have a few things I need to ask you!"
As soon as he spoke, Zhang Changgong and the others sensibly left the room.
Soon, the hospital room had only Tang Zhong and Peng Yuan left.
"Tang, I need to ask you something—please answer honestly!" General Peng Yuan said.
"Alright!" Tang Zhong nodded earnestly.
"Did you really see Hugo?" Peng Yuan asked.
"I did!" Tang Zhong replied. Recalling Hugo, he now suspected something unusual. Hugo was supposed to be dead, yet he was alive here—how could this not be suspicious?
"Do you know who Hugo really is?" Peng Yuan asked again.
"I do!" Tang Zhong replied.
"A man who should’ve died yet has returned to life—this is unbelievably abnormal!" General Peng Yuan said, frowning.
Tang Zhong was puzzled by the same thing.
Yun Country had officially declared Hugo dead, yet Hugo had resurfaced, and he even claimed to be a god. More bizarrely, Hugo had transformed from an old man into a youthful figure. All of this was puzzling.
It was simply outside the bounds of reason.
Then there was Adam, who, after merging with the Blood Stone, turned into something like a demon. And the previous Navy SEAL general, who had transformed into a lizardman. Each event was strange.
Clearly, Giger and his group were researching some form of biotechnology, and they must have some hidden agenda.
This reminded Tang Zhong of the Origin Stone and the destruction of the underground lab in Xuanjing City long ago.
Could Yun Country’s technology truly be this advanced?
"General Peng Yuan, I find all this incredibly mysterious—everything is so odd!" Tang Zhong remarked.
"I feel the same. That day, Giger seemed desperate to have you killed. I think there’s definitely something wrong here. But forget about that for now. After your Tang Family was wiped out, I had people rebuild the old site. While there, I discovered a sweater with the character ’Wei’ embroidered on it. I suspect it was your girlfriend’s belongings, so I brought it to show you!" Peng Yuan said.
Peng Yuan then revealed a sweater he held in his hands.
