Chapter 503 Unsheathe the Sword!

Chapter 503: Chapter 503 Unsheathe the Sword!

On the platform, numerous swords were planted.

And beside the platform, a crowd of people was gathered.

"Is that Fang Jingde?" Tang Zhong asked.

"He hasn’t come out yet!" Fang Susu said.

"Then I’ll call him out!" Tang Zhong said.

But at this moment, he suddenly felt the stone he had bought from Bald Liu trembling again.

Furthermore, the stone actually flew out of his pocket and Tang Zhong immediately caught it in the palm of his hand.

However, the stone was still moving, as if it was guiding Tang Zhong.

Struck by curiosity, Tang Zhong no longer forcefully restrained the stone but let it float freely.

He noticed the direction the stone was heading towards was precisely the swords-filled platform, now surrounded by many people.

When the two of them reached the side of the platform, the fluctuations on the stone finally calmed down.

He looked at the swords inserted in the platform and frowned instantly. Was the stone directing him to look at these swords?

There was nothing unusual about these swords, right?

But now that the stone was no longer fluctuating, it must certainly be because of these swords.

On the platform, an elderly man was currently seated, eyes closed as if in meditation.

Voices of discussion were continuously heard from below.

"I heard that all these swords come from the Valley of Hidden Swords!"

"No wonder they’re all fine pieces, they look so pleasing to the eye!"

"To actually see someone from the Valley of Hidden Swords here, this journey wasn’t a waste!"

"I wonder why they’ve put the swords here though!"

The noise of discussion went on.

Then the elder with his eyes closed slowly opened them and stood up, saying, "Fellow Martial Arts practitioners, I am the Elder of Martial Arts from the Valley of Hidden Swords!"

"Greetings, Elder!"

As soon as the elder introduced himself, the crowd below instantly erupted.

"Stop, stop, stop, I thank you all for such a warm welcome. This time, I have come on behalf of the Valley of Hidden Swords to recruit disciples," Elder of Martial Arts said with a smile.

Suddenly, the atmosphere was so charged it could nearly explode.

"What, recruit disciples?"

"The Valley of Hidden Swords is recruiting disciples; this news is enough to shake up this place!"

And those martial artists who had been setting up stalls at a distance, upon hearing this news, even abandoned their wares.

Tang Zhong, however, frowned. He kept watching the Elder of Martial Arts and noticed something was off about the elder, that his words seemed insincere.

But Tang Zhong wasn’t interested in recruiting disciples at all. He was thinking about why the stone had brought him here?

It probably had something to do with the power of the stone.

With the Elder of Martial Arts announcing the Valley of Hidden Swords’ recruitment of disciples, everyone else had already burst into commotion.

"What are the requirements for joining the Valley of Hidden Swords?"

"Exactly, Elder, don’t keep us in the dark anymore, tell us what the conditions are?"

"As long as we meet the conditions, we definitely want to join the Valley of Hidden Swords!"

Many people looked up at the Elder of Martial Arts, eager and impatient.

The Elder of Martial Arts smiled and said, "It’s very simple; do you see the swords on this platform? Just pulling out one will make you a disciple of the Valley of Hidden Swords!"

As soon as they heard this, many eyes fell on the swords on the platform and people began to get restless to try.

"Can we try right now?" a skinny disciple asked, eyes blazing with eagerness.

"Of course!" the Elder of Martial Arts said, smiling.

Then they watched the disciple step forward and reach for a sword, gripping the hilt with both hands, clenching his teeth tightly, exerting all his strength, but the sword didn’t budge. After trying all the swords, not one of them moved.

"No good!" the Elder of Martial Arts said, shaking his head.

The skinny disciple left the stage, downhearted.

Being unable to pull out these swords also meant failing the Valley of Hidden Swords’ assessment.

A muscular martial artist leaped onto the platform: "I’m strong; watch me draw the sword!"

He gripped the sword handle with both hands, saw the blue veins on his muscles bulge, clenched his teeth tightly, trying to pull the sword out, but the sword remained motionless, his forehead covered in sweat, yet the sword simply wouldn’t budge.

"How is this possible?" The strong man’s entire face turned red with strain.

But the sword still did not move.

"Next!" Elder Wu waved his hand, "Valley of Hidden Swords needs the chosen ones, these swords, too, are waiting for the right person!"

After two had failed, those who were harboring hopes of luck knew that the conditions for Hidden Sword Sect’s recruitment of disciples were not as simple as just pulling a sword from the ground.

Yet, people continued to step up one after another.

But several swords didn’t show even the slightest hint of moving.

Elder Wu’s expression had gone from hopeful to dim, and finally to disdainful, something average people couldn’t see, but Tang Zhong noticed.

This Hidden Sword Sect seemingly had no real intention of taking on new disciples.

Then, Tang Zhong looked at those swords, convinced that the mysterious stones would not have guided him here without reason.

Why not give it a try and pull a sword?

Tang Zhong then stepped onto the stage.

"Mr. Tang, you’re going too?" Fang Susu asked.

"Hmm!"

At that moment, those who had gone up to pull the swords felt as though they’d been doused with cold water.

When they saw Tang Zhong go up, someone said directly, "Brother, don’t bother pulling, it won’t come out. With your weak appearance, how could you possibly pull it out?"

Ordinary people would notify Elder Wu before trying to pull a sword, but Tang Zhong went straight over, ignoring everyone.

He approached the place where the swords were planted and slowly reached out with both hands, grasping the sword handle.

Then he yanked it suddenly, expecting it to be as futile as for the previous people.

But the moment Tang Zhong exerted force, he saw the sword lift out effortlessly.

Holding it in his hand.

Down below, some people who had hurried over earlier, eager at the news of Valley of Hidden Swords recruiting disciples, were ready to leave after seeing person after person fail, their enthusiasm crushed. How could they, ordinary martial artists, possibly join the Valley of Hidden Swords?

"Forget it, let’s go. With my talent, I was thinking too much when I came over just now!"

"Yeah, me too, it’s impossible to pull out the sword, unless one is an unmatched genius!"

"But where can you find so many geniuses!"

Just as a few were about to move away, someone exclaimed.

"Look, he’s pulled it out!"

"What?" Everyone exclaimed.

"That’s impossible!"

When all eyes fell on Tang Zhong, everyone was shocked, then filled with envy.

"He pulled out the sword, he’s going to become a disciple of Valley of Hidden Swords, this guy, he’s made it big this time!"

"Yeah!"

Even Elder Wu’s eyes were now shining.

At that moment, Tang Zhong held the sword in his hand, feeling even more puzzled, because he realized he hadn’t pulled it at all, the sword had simply landed in his hand.

Then, Tang Zhong’s gaze fell on the other sword handles, and he slowly reached out again.

Seeing that Tang Zhong was actually attempting to pull another sword, everyone’s pupils dilated, filled with disbelief.

Tang Zhong walked to the next sword, extended his hand, and just as he was about to touch it, the sword flew up, landing directly in his hand, just like the first. He then turned to look at a third.

"He’s pulled it out again!"

"Look, he’s actually looking at the third one now!"

Everyone stopped talking and stared straight ahead.

Tang Zhong reached for the third sword, and before he could exert any effort, the sword flew out on its own.

This time, Tang Zhong grew even more suspicious of the power of the mysterious stone; it must be because of the stone.

The fourth one, the fifth one...

All of the swords had been pulled out, without the slightest effort.

And the surrounding people, watching Tang Zhong, had their eyes wide open in complete astonishment, wondering how just one word – ’awesome’ – could describe him!

(Spoilers ahead: the three stones are related to the Dragon Jade, and they are the biggest secret of the book!)
