Chapter 835: Five Monsters of Hunshan

Chapter 835: Chapter 835: Five Monsters of Hunshan

The Kunwu Realm had a total of eighteen entrances at Kunwu Mountain. Su Chengyu and his companions flew towards the towering Kunwu Mountain and from afar, they could already see a light gate array in a valley ahead, which was the entrance to the Kunwu Realm.

The group landed outside the valley, where cliffs stood on both sides and only a narrow passage led into the valley. There were strong prohibitions overhead, making it impossible to fly directly in; everyone had to enter through the valley.

At this time, outside the valley, there was already a crowd. When Su Chengyu and his party arrived, they saw clear signs of a recent fight, with the air still tinged with residual sword qi. A battle had evidently taken place here not long ago. There were bloodstains, severed limbs, and a few bodies with blood yet to coagulate lying on the ground.

"What happened here?" Cai Zi Feng asked a person nearby.

"The entrance of the valley has been blocked by some people. They say that to enter, one must pay a toll; otherwise, they won’t let you through. Those in the Golden Core Realm and Martial Arts Supremes can enter at will. These people are essentially robbing others in broad daylight. Just now, there were individuals who didn’t want to pay the toll and tried to force their way in, only to be instantly slain here."

"This is outrageous. The Kunwu Realm is a blessing left to all descendants by the Kunwu Immortal. Traditionally, anyone who meets the trial rules of the Kunwu Realm could enter at will. But now, these shameless people are using it to scrape together wealth, their conduct is no different from that of bandits."

The others were also indignant. They weren’t in the Golden Core Realm nor were they Martial Arts Supremes. In fact, among those who entered the Kunwu Realm for trials, very few reached these two realms; the majority were only in the Martial King Realm, and the stronger ones were at most in the Martial Saint Realm.

"To think there are people who would do such despicable acts," Cai Zi Feng said.

"How much toll are they demanding?" Su Chengyu asked.

"Twenty Heavenly Pills per person."

Twenty Heavenly Pills weren’t an exorbitant amount, but this was pure extortion. Practitioners all had their pride, and no one wanted to hand over twenty Heavenly Pills for no good reason.

In the Kunwu Realm, Heavenly Pills were very important.

"Who are these people blocking the way? They’ve got some nerve!" Xuan Wei inquired.

"There are five of them, calling themselves the Five Monsters of Hunshan. Two of them are notable—one in the Golden Core Realm, the other a Martial Arts Supreme—while the remaining three are also in the Martial Saint Realm."

A team consisting of one Golden Core, one Martial Arts Supreme, and three Martial Saints did indeed have formidable combat strength. Those who had the power to contend with them wouldn’t be obstructed. These five were also quite cunning, preying only on those below the Golden Core Realm and Martial Arts Supreme Realm, who they could easily bully and exploit.

"There are as many as eighteen entrances to the Kunwu Mountain; we could simply choose a different entry point instead of insisting on this one," Zheng Tianrui suggested.

"According to them, twelve of the eighteen entrances have been taken over. The remaining six are deep within Kunwu Mountain, which is too dangerous. Venturing deep into the mountains, one is highly likely to encounter the Beasts Long Chi," the group of people stopped outside sighed and shook their heads.

"You few are Qingcheng Mountain Disciples, and you can go directly in without paying any toll, while we, the Loose Cultivators, or those without strong enough backing, just have to pay up obediently."

There were people here who had seen their battle with The League of Loyalty at Waiting for the Wind Restaurant the day before, and so they recognized them.

"The Five Monsters of Hunshan are indeed clever, allowing those with high realms or significant backgrounds to pass freely, thus avoiding provoking resistance. They only exploit these people who are easy to bully and control," Su Chengyu commented indifferently.

"Uncle Master Cai, should we do something about this? They’re really taking things too far by bullying people like this," Bai Ling Shan, who had a strong sense of justice, asked.

Cai Zi Feng hesitated for a moment, then shook his head and said, "The opposing five have strong combat abilities. We wouldn’t be able to handle them even if we wanted to. It’s better to stay out of it."

"Brother has a point. If it were with little effort, we might as well lend a hand. But even the seven of us together would not be a match for them. We should look after ourselves," Xuan Wei said.

Su Chengyu and Chen Mengmeng both nodded their heads, recognizing that the Five Monsters of Hunshan were powerful. Since they posed no threat to them, there indeed was no need to provoke any conflict, which would have been more trouble than it’s worth.

At that moment, over ten streams of sword light broke through the sky and arrived outside the valley. The group, one by one, bore an extraordinary appearance, attire, and aura, indicating they likely hailed from some major power. People outside the valley automatically made way for them.

Su Chengyu casually glanced at the line of people. They were escorting a woman clad in white, her face obscured by a thin veil, surrounded with evident respect.

After they landed, they did not spare a glance at the individuals around them, as if none of those present were worthy of notice. They headed straight for the entrance to the valley.

"Whose faction are these people from? They seem to have quite the presence," someone whispered.

"Let’s go as well, we should hurry and enter the Kunwu Realm," Cai Zi Feng said.

His group followed closely behind the ten or so individuals. When they reached the valley’s entrance, the Five Monsters of Hunshan had erected a stele which stated an entrance toll of twenty Heavenly Pills. Beside the stele were also several dead bodies.

The group of ten was stopped by one of the Five Monsters of Hunshan with a beard.

"A passing fee is required to enter the valley."

"Scram," said a man walking in the front, his tone cold.

"You’re quite arrogant, aren’t you? Didn’t you see the corpses beside you? Without paying, either you don’t enter, or you die. Alternatively, if you have someone in the Golden Core Realm, or if you are from a major power, you may pass without hindrance."

Another man retorted, "Five stinking bugs, daring to block the way and rob others here, seeking death."

The ten or so individuals didn’t bother revealing their identities, and instead chose to resort to violence. Single-minded and few in words, they dispatched five people, each one attacking the Five Monsters of Hunshan.

"The Five Monsters of Hunshan have hit a steel plate this time. These people have a clear significance and won’t tolerate such vile behavior," Cai Zi Feng remarked.

Quiet and reserved, Ji Yuzhu spoke at this moment, "They are from an Ancient Clan. Hunshan trying to block the path of those from an Ancient Clan meant they were destined to perish."

"Junior Sister Ji, how did you know they are from an Ancient Clan?" Cai Zi Feng asked.

Ji Yuzhu, however, did not respond. Among the Five Monsters of Hunshan, aside from the two individuals who were in the Golden Core Realm and Martial Arts Supreme, the other three Martial Saints were almost instantly slain after withstanding merely three moves. Seeing this, the other two knew they had provoked forces not to be trifled with and immediately turned to flee.

The white-clad woman wearing a veil simply pointed from a distance, and a Flying Sword emerged from her sleeve, killing the two fleeing individuals through the air. The blood did not stick to the Flying Sword as it flew back to the woman’s sleeve.

The death of the Five Monsters of Hunshan delighted the crowd outside the valley who were unwilling to pay the toll but could not defeat the quintet; they clapped and cheered, and quite a few people even went over to suck up to the newcomers.

Yet this group did not pay them any attention, as if they had just done something trivial and not worth mentioning. They proceeded into the valley without needing anyone’s praise.

Watching the back of the white-clad woman, Su Chengyu’s heart suddenly stirred.
