Chapter 578: Chapter 578: Breaking up _1

"There are the screaming souls again. This time, it feels as though the sound is right next to my ear," reported Lin Chuxue.

Upon peering into the deep ditch, Su Chengyu said, "This looks like a burial trench in which numerous bones are piled up. Judging by the scale of this, at least a thousand must have been buried in this pit."

On hearing this, Lin Chuxue and Yu Yanshu walked over to the ditch, peering down and indeed finding many layers of white bones, sending shivers down their spines.

"These people had such miserable ends, cruelly butchered alive for these sacrificial burials," lamented Lin Chuxue.

"Let’s hurry across the bridge. We have no idea what dangers still lie in the second chamber of the tomb!" urged Han Jing.

Su Chengyu took the lead onto the stone bridge. Seeing that there was no imminent danger after they had stepped onto the bridge, Han Jing and the rest followed in tow.

Having crossed the bridge, they found an open and level plane in front of them. With a flick of Su Chengyu’s fingers, the torches on the surrounding stone pillars lit up all at once, revealing dragon and phoenix carvings on the columns, adorned with golden items and jade stones.

These golden items and precious stones were merely ordinary treasures and held no magical properties. As such, Su Chengyu had no particular interest in them. In tomb raids conducted by the Golden Holy Door members, they wouldn’t pass up both priceless treasures and lesser gold and jade furniture.

However, Han Jing and the others had higher discernment. They scoffed at the idea of extracting these mundane items themselves and planned to have Zhou Li and his team do the digging instead.

On the walls of their surroundings were numerous engraved murals. After a careful look, Su Chengyu discovered that the murals depicted the life story of the tomb’s owner. Through the dozen or so murals, it was clear the tomb’s owner had once lived a life of glory, having earned honors and fought battles across the world.

In one of the last murals, the tomb’s owner was shown wearing a flat-topped imperial crown and embroidered dragon robe—an indication that he had unified the world, ascending to the throne as emperor and holding sway over it all.

"Who could’ve imagined—the ancient tomb could be a royal mausoleum, which explains the grandeur of this burial.

After looking at the murals, Su Chengyu gained a better understanding of the tomb’s owner. A thousand years ago, during a turbulent period in the history of Xia Country, where dynasties rose and fell and heroes emerged from the chaos, it was reasonable that people like the tomb’s owner rose to power and established a new dynasty.

Su Chengyu had studied this era of history. Many kings whose reign only lasted for one generation and consequently didn’t leave much of a mark in history books.

On the murals, something caught Su Chengyu’s attention - the tomb owner held a bad in his last three murals.

In particular, in the mural depicting the emperor’s ascension to the throne, the tomb’s owner was still pictured holding the Ruyi scepter.

Upon closer observation, this Ruyi resembles the Blood Ruyi Su Chnengyu acquired from Liyuan Cave Heaven.

It’s highly likely that a thousand years ago, the tomb’s owner had obtained one of the Blood Ruyi and prized it so highly that he carried it with him at all times.

The nine Blood Ruyi that the Luofu Jinxian made are scattered across the world without a trace, and no one has ever managed to collect them all. It is highly probable that there is one among them that, only after the tomb owner’s death, has become a grave accompaniment buried in this tomb.

Su Chengyu pointed out, "Although we need to assemble all nine Blood Ruyi to open the Luo Fu Treasure House, for the scattered immortals of Liyuan who spent hundreds of years only to find five people possessing the Blood Ruyi, this is an opportunity."

After all, what if all the nine Ruyi would resurface one day? That would indeed be the great treasure left by the Daluo Golden Immortal

Lin Chuxue and Yu Yanshu were also carefully studying the mural. Yu Yanshu passed on a message: "Master, the Ruyi in the hands of the man in the mural, doesn’t it look exactly the same as the Blood Ruyi you found in Liyuan Cave Heaven?"

"You noticed it too? It should be another Blood Ruyi. Looks like we are fortunate," Su Chengyu replied telepathically.

The Grandmaster from the Golden Holy Door suddenly exclaimed excitedly, "Mr. Han and Mr. You, quickly come and see, are these inscriptions on the wall martial arts manuals?"

Han Jing and his colleague hurried over. A set of martial arts manual was indeed recorded on the wall on another side.

Su Chengyu also went over, where dragon and phoenix-like scripts carved into the stone wall caught his attention. It read - "I rose from humble beginnings, battled all over the world for forty years, and finally managed to bring about peace and ascended the throne as the emperor. Yet ultimately I couldn’t defy fate as I lie here. I leave behind my great martial arts knowledge. If someone from future generations comes here, they may learn this top earth-rank martial arts and reign supreme."

"Placating Chaos Sword Technique is in fact the most powerful sword technique in the world. Its power is comparable to that of heavenly-level martial arts. The third chamber of the tomb houses my extensive collection of other manuals. My only wish is for those who enter my tomb in the future to leave my remains undisturbed."

The three individuals from the Golden Holy Door were ecstatic when they saw that it was indeed a supreme earth-rank martial arts manual.

"It’s really a supreme earth-rank martial arts technique, this is great! With this, advancing to the Martial King Realm is not so far off!" declared Han Jing, overcome with joy. He immediately memorized the thirteen moves of the Placating Chaos Sword technique that were inscribed on the stone wall. The other two tried to memorize as much of the martial arts manuals they could.

Su Chengyu normally wouldn’t bat an eye at an ordinary martial arts manual, but if it was a top-grade, earth-rank manual comparable to a heavenly-level one, he was willing to give it a try and make a note. Later, he could trade these manuals for herbs.

This martial arts manual is a hot commodity that would certainly spur a frenzy among buyers.

"Why are you standing there? Get out of here!"

Seeing that Su Chengyu was also attempting to memorize the manual, You Guangyu swore at him.

At this point, Han Jing no longer felt the need to keep up the pretense. There was no danger in the second chamber of the tomb and presumably, any danger in the third chamber could be dealt with. Su Chengyu was now utterly useless to them.

Han Jing said, "This martial arts manual belongs to the Golden Holy Door. You are not to look at a single word."

"On what grounds? Before we entered the tomb we agreed that we would each rely on our own abilities. The martial arts tomb is inscribed on the walls. If you can look, naturally, so can we!" retorted Lin Chuxue bravely.

You Guangyu sneered, "Yes, you have every right to look, but do you have the means to get out alive? Laddie, for your information, I’ve put up with you for way too long. If you weren’t somewhat useful, I would’ve killed you long ago. Now, you’re of no use to me, I believe there’s no need to wait. If you end up dying in this royal mausoleum, I wouldn’t have treated you unfairly."

No sooner had You Guangyu finished speaking than the strength in his body erupted into a punch at Su Chengyu.

Quickly dodging You Guangyu’s punch, Su Chengyu signaled for Lin Chuxue and Yu Yanshu to step back, without the slightest bit of worry.

"In fact, I’ve also put up with you for quite a while."

A chilly gleam flickered in Su Chengyu’s eyes as he unleashed all his might, causing You Guangyu to look aghast.

"So you’ve been hiding your true strength all along! But what of it? With both Mr. Han and myself, killing you should be no trouble at all!"

You Guangyu, realising that Su Chengyu was as powerful as he was, if not even stronger, immediately beckoned, "Mr. Han, let’s kill this lad first."

Han Jing nodded his understanding and turned to address his other colleague, "Brother Bi, keep an eye on the two women. They can’t come to harm."

"Understood!" was the reply.

Slowly, Han Jing stepped towards Su Chengyu joining You Guangyu. The aura exuding from his body indicated that he was at the Fourth Level Marquis Realm, while You Guangyu was at the Third-grade Marquis realm.
