Chapter 426: Chapter 426: The Wealthy Qiao Family _1
After some thought, Su Chengyu decided not to send the video to Xia Ruolan to prevent her from impulsively confronting Li Wanpeng.
Li Wanpeng was no good person, and Su Chengyu feared that Xia Ruolan would be at a disadvantage if she went to him alone. So, he sent Xia Ruolan a message advising her not to rush into signing the divorce agreement. She texted back saying that she wouldn’t sign the agreement until tomorrow at the earliest, which eased Su Chengyu’s worries.
As long as he was there, Li Wanpeng wouldn’t be able to rock the boat.
The Qiao family was one of the top wealthy families in Jianghuai, their strength not at all inferior to the Lu family in Jiangdong. Their manor was equally grand. After their cars drove into the Qiao mansion compound, the Qiao siblings were surprised to see Su Chengyu also stepping out of Jiang Qi’s car.
"Brother, why has Mr. Su come to our house? We don’t seem to have much interaction with him, do we?" Qiao Anran asked in a low voice.
"I don’t know. But since such a respected figure as Doctor Jiang is, we shouldn’t offend him easily. Let’s just wait and see," Qiao Yuxuan advised.
Walking over, Qiao Yuxuan said, "Mr. Su, your presence graces the Qiao Family. My name is Qiao Yuxuan, and it’s our honour to welcome you on behalf of our family."
Su Chengyu slightly nodded, not saying much.
"Please," Qiao Yuxuan gestured to lead the way, and the group headed towards Qiao Yuanting’s residence.
Qiao Yuanting, just over fifty, wasn’t exactly old. However, he had been plagued by disease for many years. Rheumatism is one of the top five global complex diseases, and so far, no conventional medical methods have been able to cure it.
But for Su Chengyu, this was hardly difficult.
Qiao Yuanting’s rheumatism had reached a serious stage, and he was now bedridden. On the car ride, Jiang Qi gave Su Chengyu a brief description of Qiao Yuanting’s physical condition.
Qiao Yuanting’s rheumatism had led to myocarditis and pulmonary arteritis. These two diseases alone were not difficult to treat, but because they were caused by rheumatism, they could not be cured. If it wasn’t for the medicine provided by Jiang Qi and some expensive imported drugs, Qiao Yuanting wouldn’t have survived past fifty.
"Doctor Jiang, you’re finally here. Please find a way to help, Yuanting can’t even get out of bed now, and he is having trouble breathing. We can only rely on your healing abilities now," exclaimed Qiao Yuanting’s wife, Wang Haili, treating Jiang Qi as a savior.
Qiao Yuanting’s younger brother, Qiao Yuanfeng, also clung to Jiang Qi’s hand anxiously, "Doctor Jiang, my brother’s illness is entirely dependent on you."
"Don’t worry, I will try my best."
Jiang Qi patted Qiao Yuanfeng’s hand in reassurance, and the two exchanged a knowing look, as if they were up to something.
Jiang Qi quickly led his apprentices into Qiao Yuanting’s room to start treating him. Others didn’t pay much attention to Su Chengyu, seeing him as an outsider and assuming him to be Jiang Qi’s apprentice.
Upon hearing that their father’s condition had worsened, the Qiao siblings were anxious and didn’t even introduce Su Chengyu properly. They swiftly followed into the room to stay with Qiao Yuanting.
Outside the room, other Qiao family members all looked anxious and worried.
Without a word, Su Chengyu sat in one corner, his Divine Sense spreading out to probe the Qiao family’s background.
As the Divine Sense of Su Chengyu explored around the compound of the Qiao family, he noticed a white-haired old man in a pavilion by an artificial lake. The old man had a deep aura, similar to what Su Chengyu had sensed from Zhao Tai’an.
The aura of the white-haired old man did not lose to Zhao Tai’an but Su Chengyu’s Divine Sense also observed a smidgen of something grey intertwined over his brow.
"It seems this old man’s lifespan is nearing its end. Even though his aura is still strong, if he doesn’t breakthrough to the Martial Marquis Realm, I’m afraid he’ll die in a year or two," Su Chengyu concluded.
He withdrew his Divine Sense after having a basic understanding of the Qiao Family. The family had two Grandmasters with the white-haired old man being a top-nine grade Grandmaster. In his current state, he was definitely not a match for him.
However, the white-haired old man’s days were numbered. A Transformation Grandmaster usually had a lifespan of around 120 years, and a Grandmaster could live over 150 years. Despite the white-haired old man not looking too old, he must be an over a hundred-year-old monster!
The other Grandmaster was in the pavilion next to the white-haired old man. His strength was far inferior, roughly around the fourth level, akin to Feng Huaqiang.
The Qiao family was a centuries-old family rooted in Jianghuai, otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to compete with the Black Dragon Commerce Association, which sprawled across four provinces.
The third master of the Black Dragon Commerce Association in Jianghuai was Cao Taiming. His powers were definitely not weaker than Zhao Tai’an, he should also be a top-nine grade Grandmaster, or perhaps even a Martial Marquis!
’Indeed, the depth of the Qiao family has deep roots, worthy of being an old established wealthy family that has existed for hundreds of years.’ Su Chengyu subtly analysed to himself.
Comparatively, the Lu family’s foundations were relatively shallow. Of course, if the Lu family could continue for hundreds of years without decline, their depth wouldn’t be lacking either.
"You, instead of rushing in to assist Doctor Jiang, you dare to sit here and eat? Do you deserve to sit here?" Wang Haili scolded when she saw Su Chengyu leisurely eating a piece of cake, resting a leg over the other.
"I’m not related to Jiang Qi. Why should I assist him?" Su Chengyu replied indifferently.
"Then who are you?" Wang Haili shouted.
Placing down the cake in his hand, Su Chengyu responded, "I’m the one who can save your husband’s life. Still, not pleased with me eating a piece of your cake?"
"Save my husband? Who do you think you are? Who let this man into our house? Get out!" Wang Haili shouted angrily, pointing at the door.
Seeing the unfamiliar face of Su Chengyu and his young age, she didn’t take him seriously and was quite rudely abrasive.
"In that case, I’ll be leaving. I hope you don’t regret this. Once I leave, you won’t find it easy if you beg me to come back," Su Chengyu stood up and said.
"Nonsense! Rush out of here or I’ll have someone break your legs and throw you out!" Wang Haili swore, using Su Chengyu as an outlet to vent her impatience.
Qiao Yuxuan, who was in the room, heard Wang Haili’s yelling and finally reacted. He hurriedly came out of the room, apologizing, "Mr. Su, I apologize. My mother doesn’t recognize you and with the situation concerning my father, she is understandably upset. I hope you wouldn’t take offense."
Although the Qiao family was indeed powerful, there was no need to gratuitously offend a prominent person. This was something that Qiao Yuxuan, a future Family Head, was clear about.
Seeing that Qiao Yuxuan took the initiative to apologize, Su Chengyu, who wasn’t a petty person, didn’t bother arguing with Wang Haili either.
"Son, who is this?" Wang Haili asked, raising an eyebrow.
Qiao Yuxuan, unsure about Su Chengyu’s background, didn’t know how to introduce him to his mother.
