Chapter 392: Chapter 392 Farewell to Nan Zhi_1
The overwhelming force struck Su Chengyu like a mountain, instantly forcing him to his knees, his bones feeling as if they were being crushed. He could not help but let out a roar.
"Stop! If you dare to harm him, I will immediately commit suicide!"
Xu Nanzhi couldn’t get near Su Chengyu, and seeing his eyes burst with pain, she shouted at the Green-robed elder in alarm.
The elder furrowed his brows, waving his hand. The overwhelming force that was bearing down on Su Chengyu subsided instantly.
"For the sake of the Goddess, I’ll spare your life," said the elder, before he materialized beside Xu Nanzhi, saying, "Goddess, please return to the clan with me."
"Let her go, you old man!"
Su Chengyu stood up, his eyes wide with rage, the Dragon Slayer Sword radiating with fury as he swung it at the green-robed elder with all his strength. The elder dismissively brushed off the brilliant Sword Qi that soared towards him. Powerful as it was, it disappeared completely under his touch.
The gap in strength was just too great!
"You’re courting death!"
The elder swung his hand again, an invisible wave swept Su Chengyu off his feet, sending him crashing into the garden wall and buried under the rubble.
"ChengYu!"
Xu Nanzhi cried out, wanting to rush over to him, but the elder held her in place with a flick of his finger.
"On what grounds do you hurt him, and on what grounds do you capture me! I am not a goddess, I’d rather die than go with you!" Xu Nanzhi said angrily.
"That’s not up to you! Our clan has been searching for the goddess for many years, I must bring you back," said the elder.
Su Chengyu charged out of the rubble, wielding the Dragon Slayer Sword and attacked like a lightning bolt. The elder pushed out towards him, smashing Su Chengyu back into the ground, creating a large pit.
Su Chengyu was seriously hurt, blood pouring from his seven orifices, unable to move, it felt like he was bearing a mountain on his back.
"You overestimate yourself, a mere Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator, daring to act recklessly in front of me! If you were a Nascent Soul Realm master, I might’ve considered you to an extent, but you, you are even lower than an ant! Today I’ll let you die, turning to dust," the elder said and raised his hand again, Su Chengyu felt his bones about to crack under the tremendous pressure, letting out a pained cry.
Under the heavy pressure, blood seeped from his pores.
"Stop! Don’t hurt him or I’ll die right in front of you! If he dies, I won’t live alone!" Being unable to move, Xu Nanzhi could only howl with despair.
"If the Goddess agrees to return to our clan with me, I can spare him," the elder said.
Xu Nanzhi looked at Su Chengyu who was dreadfully wounded and groaning in pain. She could only sob silently.
"Fine! I’ll go with you, just let him go," Xu Nanzhi was forced to agree, after all, she couldn’t bear to see Su Chengyu die in front of her.
The elder nodded. Relaxing his hold over Su Chengyu, he scoffed, "You are too weak. Truth be told, you’re not even qualified to die by my hand."
The elder, carrying Xu Nanzhi by her shoulder, took off into the sky.
"ChengYu, take care! I love you!!"
Xu Nanzhi reached out to Su Chengyu as she was taken away by the elder, leaving behind her words and her tears scattered by the wind.
"AHH!!"
Su Chengyu pounded the ground as he howled in fury and frustration.
He loathed his own weakness, his own helplessness that let the people he cared about die, disappear, and now, even Xu Nanzhi was taken away.
"Nan Zhi!!"
Su Chengyu’s eyes turned bloodshot, tears of blood trickled down his face. Still, all his rage seemed futile against the fact that Xu Nanzhi had been taken away.
And Su Chengyu knew very well, that Xu Nanzhi being taken to the Ancient Clan only meant she would end up being sacrificed.
Only then did the household servants dare to approach, lifting Su Chengyu out of the pit.
"Master, you must take care of yourself," Xie Wanrong offered some comfort.
Su Chengyu, heart-wrenching, spit out a mouthful of fresh blood, and everything went black as he collapsed.
When he finally woke up, it was already night, and opening his eyes he saw Xu Nanzhi sitting beside his bed.
"Nan Zhi!"
Despite the pain, Su Chengyu sat up abruptly and clung tight to Xu Nanzhi.
"Su Chengyu, look closely, I am Liu Yan, not Nan Zhi," the person in his arms sighed.
Only then did Su Chengyu come to his senses, and let go. Indeed, it was Liu Yan. He returned to his bed, his eyes devoid of any spirit or hope.
"Nan Zhi has returned to her clan. This is a good thing. Why are you so upset?" Liu Yan advised.
"You don’t understand! Leave, I want to be alone. Don’t disturb me."
Su Chengyu turned his back, his whole disposition like a walking corpse.
The recent blows had been too many, people leaving him one after the other. Xu Nanzhi’s capture was the final straw that completely shattered Su Chengyu’s psychological defenses.
Liu Yan frowned and suddenly scolded Su Chengyu, "Get up! What are you doing lying down? Are you giving up on yourself? I thought you had grown and matured after all these events. To think, you are still so fragile."
Su Chengyu remained unmoved by her reprimands, lying still with his back to her.
"Nan Zhi was taken away, and you are sad. But you should be rousing your spirits, building your strength to get her back! What use is it giving up? Will it bring her back to you?"
"And Lin Chuxue, she died. Weren’t you planning to bring her back to life? Can you do that by lying here?"
"And your little sister, Su Xiao, she’s missing. Weren’t you going to find her? What about your good brother, Li Yuancang? He died too, weren’t you supposed to avenge him? If you keep moping, self-pitying, people will look down on you, and so will I!"
Liu Yan gave Su Chengyu a severe dressing down, and for once, it seemed to stir something in him.
"So much has happened, who wouldn’t be sad? We’re all hurting, but does being sad solve anything? Nan Zhi always said you have unlimited potential, that your tenacity is what she loved the most. Look at how you are acting now, she was clearly wrong about you," she said, and then stormed out.
"Miss Liu, how is he?" Xie Wanrong asked.
"I’ve said all there is to say. None of us can help him now. Let him have some peace. If he can come to terms with things, he may be able to turn this heartbreak into strength. If not, he might sink even deeper and become useless," she replied.
Liu Yan shook her head. She had done everything she could, and now, whether Su Chengyu could gain the strength to rise above his grief was anyone’s guess!
