Chapter 1828: Chapter 1829 Demon God Bi Fang
The final danger faced by Su Chengyu finally made She Li cease its last struggles.
The expression that just moments ago seemed ready to fight to the death instantaneously became suffused with a pervasive aura of death.
Realizing it was now undoubtedly in a fatal predicament, it no longer dared to hope for survival. All it wished for was a swift end, rather than having its soul entirely imprisoned by Su Chengyu, along with answers to a few lingering questions in its heart.
"After mutual destruction with me, you ultimately used human hands to defeat me. Was all of this truly calculated by you?"
"Do I have any need to answer you?"
Su Chengyu coldly retorted, not relaxing his vigilance even a bit until he was sure of the other’s intentions.
To his surprise, She Li simply smiled: "Rest assured, I understand my current predicament. I do not seek survival, only a death with dignity. Furthermore, I believe the information I offer in exchange for these questions is far more meaningful to you than the questions themselves."
Su Chengyu looked at She Li, weary and drained before him, his mind flashing back to the battle and the message She Li revealed which caught his attention. After some hesitation, he spoke.
"You really have seen the person who left this Map Totem."
"A distant glance or two, I am very aware of that human’s power, to me, it is almost unreachable. Although I found my way here through the traces he left, I never faced him directly."
Su Chengyu’s brow furrowed, clearly not satisfied with this answer, at which point She Li added another sentence.
"I fear death."
"Just as you sensed, at the moment of your arrival, I became extremely wary of you because of this very reason. Even if not that person, any association with that fellow made me particularly cautious around you, so..."
"So even though you have coveted the Immortal Core for a long time, you are unwilling to confront me head-on."
She Li laughed bitterly; it had been cautious all its life, yet unexpected risk-taking led it to eternal damnation.
"What else do you know about him?"
She Li looked up without speaking, maintaining a silent gaze at Su Chengyu.
Though it provided no information, its stance was still very clear.
After contemplating for a while, Su Chengyu decided to speak: "Indeed, I can guide us to this place. I lack the capability of delivering a one-hit kill to you. After all, the protective capability of Merit Power is unique even among all the Powers of the Heavenly Dao. I don’t have the confidence that my strike could certainly slay you. Knowing this, I bet that after the strike, I would be in a worse state than you, hence all these preparations."
"So it seems that the newly initiated human was just a part of your backup plan. Even without his intervention, you had other preparation."
"Hmm?"
"You dared to say those words to him because even if he harbored murderous intent towards you, you had the confidence to clean up the mess, right?"
Su Chengyu smiled, neither confirming nor denying.
What She Li said wasn’t entirely wrong, but it wasn’t completely right either.
If young Yin had not taken action against She Li, Su Chengyu would indeed have had no power to fight She Li under those circumstances, making Yin his last lifeline at that point.
On this, he indeed gambled, and he did not have any other backups prepared.
As for what was right, Su Chengyu indeed had special means regarding young Yin.
The seeds of Cultivation within Yin were planted by Su Chengyu. Even if Su Chengyu himself was devoid of Mana, as long as Yin had not formally embarked on the path of cultivation, a mere thought from Su Chengyu would suffice.
He could directly ignite the seeds within Yin, and the young body would certainly be unable to withstand the providence and inheritance Su Chengyu planted within him.
The two were indeed intertwined, but Su Chengyu was not in full control of everything just moments ago.
"Another thing, can I ask you how you deduced that the power I derived from Heaven and Earth should be called Merit Power?"
Su Chengyu paused for a moment upon hearing this question.
In fact, at the beginning of their clash, Su Chengyu did not recognize which of the seven Powers of the Heavenly Dao this force belonged to, and even now, he did not have a fully certain answer or any empirical basis.
It was only when the two Heavenly Dao forces collided between Heaven and Earth, creating immense shocks impacting Su Chengyu’s body, that he almost instinctively arrived at this answer.
Through close encounters, understanding naturally followed, and understanding led to an acquaintance.
The only surprising thing for Su Chengyu was that this familiar aura seemed not to be his first encounter.
However, even now, Su Chengyu could not find in his memory where this familiarity originated.
"Is intuition enough?"
Hearing this unexpected answer, She Li felt a little lost, then lowered its head and remained silent for a long time before finally asking.
"One last question, was the Tiger Demon sent by you?"
"Yes, unsurprisingly, when you left the hilltop, that creature had already started its action. Without you there, I imagine none among your Demon Clan could be his match."
"Hehehe, I see, it turns out he was never meant to deal with me. His approach from the start was solely for the protection of that human tribe?"
Su Chengyu remained silent, but with just his few words, She Li could deduce such detailed conclusions, which was already enough to leave Su Chengyu astonished.
Reversing identities, he even doubted he could do better than the Tiger Demon before him.
Looking at the Tiger Demon, Su Chengyu subconsciously thought of Cui Manlou.
This tactician of the Demonic Path, maneuvering amidst the Three Mountains Nine Caves and twelve demonic overlords, manipulating them as chess pieces with inferior strength.
Apart from their ideological standpoints, Su Chengyu held this fortunate Quanzhen Disciple who shot to fame in similar esteem as Long Xuan and Ye Qingci.
"Regrettably, paths diverge."
She Li paused at these words, then quickly grasped Su Chengyu’s meaning.
Su Chengyu’s words naturally pointed to the differences in their species; the human tribe protection efforts undertaken by Su Chengyu had long stood in direct opposition to She Li’s meditations.
Their relationship at the moment clearly left no room for reconciliation.
"I will grant you a swift end, once you speak of that human."
Upon hearing the final judgment from Su Chengyu, She Li let out a bitter laugh, then took a deep breath and slowly began.
"The first time I saw that man was in the Southernmost Land. Before his arrival, it was the domain of a temperamental Demon God, known as Bi Fang."
