Chapter 1662: Chapter 1663: A Tremendous Bargain

Su Chengyu’s figure had just arrived at the Incarnation Pool when he immediately noticed several skirmishes scattered across the battlefield.

The Demonic Path, Beasts, and some Cultivators and Martial Artists whose affiliations Su Chengyu couldn’t determine.

The gathered Luo Clan members were simultaneously withstanding far more than just an assault from a single faction.

These outsiders, each of differing identities, tacitly refrained from attacking one another, instead unifying their efforts against the Luo Clan members present.

Su Chengyu did not act rashly, carefully sweeping his Divine Sense over the entire battlefield. Soon, his attention settled on a less conspicuous corner.

At the edge of the Immortal Pool, a group of Luo Clan disciples were locked in fierce combat against several Beasts Su Chengyu had never seen before.

There were three Beasts, all Demon Emperor Stage in strength.

The Luo Clan opposing them, however, consisted of merely one Cultivator at the Initial Stage of Nascent Soul and three Low Grade Martial Emperors.

In terms of numbers, the Luo Clan appeared to have a slight advantage, yet the tide of battle clearly leaned overwhelmingly in the Beasts’ favor.

Based on Su Chengyu’s judgment, if the situation continued to develop, those four Luo Clan members would be dead beneath the claws of the three Beasts after at most the time it takes for a stick of incense to burn.

Having ascertained the circumstances, Su Chengyu did not rush to intervene; he continued to observe from the sidelines.

The Heaven-Mending Stone, witnessing this scene, remarked with some curiosity, "With your current strength, is it truly necessary to play the waiting game? Why not just directly dispatch this lot in one move and be done with it?"

Responding to the Heaven-Mending Stone’s puzzlement, Su Chengyu remained silent, continuing to quietly observe the unfolding changes on the battlefield.

"In today’s moment of crisis for the Luo Clan, being able to fight side by side with all of you is an honor for me, Luo Quan. If there is a next life, I’d still wish to share a common kinship with you all!"

The Nascent Soul Cultivator among the Luo Clan disciples suddenly spoke, his voice stirring. Then, his palm pressed against the center of his brow. In the next moment, the acupoints across his entire body burst forth with Mana in an instant.

"Senior Brother! What are you doing!"

Within the clan, regardless of differences in cultivation realms, "Senior Brother" was a term of address. It seemed these four had only recently become acquainted, yet even they recognized what the Luo Clan Cultivator was attempting to do.

The Blood Ignition Technique.

Among the Nine Ancient Tribes, nearly every clan possessed methods to forcibly elevate one’s realm. However, the technique of the Luo Clan was limited to Cultivators only. The Nascent Soul Third Realm Cultivator in front of them was unmistakably sacrificing his own essence blood and life as the price to forcibly elevate his strength to the Late Stage of Nascent Soul in a desperate bid to shift the current situation.

Observing this, Su Chengyu was unsurprised. Though the group lacked extraordinary talent, they were, after all, Cultivators of the Ancient Clan. For them to possess no Secret Techniques whatsoever, Su Chengyu simply wouldn’t believe it.

This was one of the reasons Su Chengyu had yet to make a move—he wanted to see if these Luo Clan disciples had any other tricks up their sleeves.

Of course, if there’s a "first reason," there’s naturally a "second reason."

The Luo Clan Cultivator’s forced realm elevation was certain to reshape the battle’s direction. Su Chengyu understood this, and naturally, the others on the battlefield understood it as well.

Having confirmed this, Su Chengyu shifted his gaze away from the Luo Clan Cultivator. Instead, his focus landed on one of the four—an unassuming Second Grade Martial Emperor.

"Frost Cold."

The piercing chill of Sword Qi suddenly flared forth, shattering his previously weak demeanor. Despite being merely a Second Grade Martial Emperor, the strength now erupting from this man rivaled that of a Middle Grade Martial Emperor.

But what shocked everyone was not his sudden surge in power nor the hidden strength he revealed, but his unexpected target. It was not the three Demon Emperors, their shared enemy, but the Luo Clan Cultivator he had been fighting alongside moments prior. He appeared out of nowhere behind the Cultivator, slamming his fist with brutal force into the man’s spine!

This sudden twist took nearly everyone by surprise. None had anticipated that a once life-and-death companion would turn his blade directly against his own kin in this moment of utmost peril.

Thus, even the Cultivator who had just boosted his realm to the Late Stage of Nascent Soul through the Blood Ignition Technique failed to react in time, taking the blow squarely without defense.

As the punch landed, freezing True Qi invaded his lungs, forcing the Luo Clan Cultivator—already drained of his essence blood and Origin—to cough up a mouthful of crimson blood. He looked at his attacker in disbelief.

"Luo Ming, what are you doing!"

The betrayer, a Luo Clan man with an indifferent expression, stared coldly at the critically injured Cultivator gasping before him. His voice was frigid as ice: "Elder cousin, the fall of the Luo Clan is inevitable. Do not blame me for being merciless. Blame yourselves for failing to recognize reality."

"Scoundrel!"

The other two Martial Emperors finally snapped out of their shock, rage exploding as they charged forward, aiming to eliminate this traitor from their ranks.

But before they could reach him, the three Demon Emperors simultaneously intervened, shielding Luo Ming and blocking the two Martial Emperors from advancing further.

Seeing the pair held back by the Demon Emperors, Luo Ming let out a sigh of relief, the unease within him finally receding.

The Exotic Beast Demon Emperor sprouted an eye on its back, glaring at Luo Ming as it spoke, "What’s the matter? Were you worried we’d go back on our word and leave you to fend for yourself?"

Luo Ming replied coldly, "I’m cooperating with your master, not with you. Don’t think that because I betrayed the Luo Clan, I’ve become one of your master’s lapdogs like you."

The three Demon Emperors exchanged glances before bursting out in laughter. "Indeed, you’re no lapdog. You’re something even lower than that—utterly pathetic!"

"You..."

Luo Ming furrowed his brows, clearly dissatisfied with their words. Yet his current predicament left him utterly unable to retaliate against the Demon Emperors. He knew full well that without them standing between him and his former companions, he had absolutely no chance of leaving this place alive.

Thus, even as the ones mocking him belonged to the Demon Clan he loathed from the depths of his soul, Luo Ming could only grit his teeth and swallow his grievances.

Taking a deep breath, he suppressed his anger.

Luo Ming turned to face the furious gazes of his former comrades, his tone calm as he said, "I’m sorry, though I don’t wish for this, either. But in order to survive, I had no other choice."

"No choice? Even if the Luo Clan truly falls today, as descendants of the Luo Clan, should we not fight to the death?"

The female Martial Emperor spoke, her voice trembling with emotion. She still could not accept Luo Ming’s betrayal.

The male Martial Emperor beside her, however, had already calmed down. He spoke softly, "Let it go, Junior Sister. Scum like him isn’t worth our anger. Even if we perish here today, he will undoubtedly meet a terrible end in the future."

His words caused a flicker of unease in Luo Ming’s heart. The attitudes of the Demon Emperors toward him had already hinted at this outcome.

However, looking at the chaotic scene unfolding around the Immortal Pool, Luo Ming returned to his stance, his voice rising in agitation, "What would you have me do then? Sacrifice myself here alongside you? I only wanted to survive—how can that be wrong? Simply because I was born into the Luo Clan, does that mean I must accept death as my destiny here?"

"There’s nothing wrong with wanting to live."

Su Chengyu’s sudden voice shattered the tense atmosphere. Instantly, all eyes turned toward him, including the wary stares of the three Demon Emperors, who demanded, "Who’s speaking?"

Ignoring their question entirely, Su Chengyu’s gaze remained fixed on Luo Ming as he asked, "Your name is Luo Ming, isn’t it? Let me ask you: where did your cultivation come from? Who raised you to achieve what you have today?"

Clenching his fists, Luo Ming glared at Su Chengyu, his voice trembling, "What does that have to do with you?"

Su Chengyu sneered, his disdain evident. "You’ve enjoyed all the advantages the Luo Clan afforded you, used their resources to shape your cultivation, and yet you dare declare your betrayal is justified? To bask in the privileges of your clan’s name but reject the responsibilities it imposes—how dare you presume to find such fortune in this world?"
