Ye Qingci didn’t respond. Su Chengyu asked, "What brings you here? Haven’t you left Lin Jiang yet?"

"The Demon Slayer Department received a message. There are traces of Demon Men on Shengzhou Island, one hundred sea-miles away. I came to check it out. I was about to leave the island when I sensed the presence of a Demon Man here," Ye Qingci explained.

Su Chengyu kicked the half-dead body of the Demon Man. "I told you my master was nearby. You didn’t believe me... serves you right!"

"It’s a Ghost Snake Demon Man, contaminated by the demonic power of a Ghost Sea Snake Demon. It’s a low-level one, though. Higher level Ghost Snake Demon Men can transform into half-human, half-snake creatures and could kill you within a breath," Ye Qingci explained.

"In the past few days, children from neighboring fishing villages have mysteriously disappeared. I tracked them here intending to save those two kids, but I almost lost my own life," Su Chengyu sighed. Although he’s currently at the fifth level of the Qi Refinement Realm, and considered quite powerful in Lin Jiang, he was utterly powerless against these lower-level Demon Men.

A feeling of helplessness and loss welled up in Su Chengyu’s heart.

Seemingly noticing Su Chengyu’s disappointment, Ye Qingci reassured him, "You should not be discouraged! You haven’t been practicing for long, there’s still considerable room for progress.
