Super Invincible Immortal Doctor
Chapter 1531 - 1532: Is the Peak of the Hollow Void Enough?

Chapter 1531: Chapter 1532: Is the Peak of the Hollow Void Enough?

When Immortals clash, mortals suffer.

Su Chengyu never expected Master Chang Chun to visit in person, let alone to start fighting with Lord Chou upon arrival, leaving him completely unsure of his place in the situation.

Although trembling might be an overstatement, he did indeed feel somewhat superfluous standing there.

"Teacher, I’ll excuse myself for a moment while you and Master Chang Chun catch up," he said.

"Catch up? What do I have to catch up on with him? Both the Heaven Punishment Department and the Imperial Observatory share the character ’heaven’ in their names, but do you think we’re really familiar with each other? Not by a long shot," Lord Chou retorted.

The arrival of Master Chang Chun had clearly made Lord Chou much more active than usual.

Perhaps there really wasn’t much interaction between the two departments, but the two had certainly had private contact.

"That’s not right, Lord Chou. The Heaven Punishment Department has the function of overseeing the Imperial Observatory. Could it be that Lord Chou, always renowned for his impartiality, has changed?" Master Chang Chun teased.

"Get lost! Can I really understand all the things you from the Imperial Observatory do? Only His Majesty and you three are privy to what is truly done; the rest of the world can only guess from the results," Lord Chou countered.

The Imperial Observatory controls the celestial timing, sacrificial decrees, and the direction of a nation’s fate – esoteric matters that are as clear as mud to anyone other than the Heavenly Son, who reigns supreme over all under heaven.

The so-called oversight is nothing more than a joke; who under heaven can truly oversee these three masters of the Dao Sect?

Master Chang Chun smiled and finally turned his attention to Su Chengyu: "Su family child, don’t think that because I know your teacher and we are colleagues that I will give you any special treatment. In fact, I don’t have much of a connection with your grandfather, Su Linyuan."

"You’re too modest, Master. The fact that you choose to ignore what you know already fills me with gratitude; I couldn’t possibly ask for more," Su Chengyu replied respectfully.

Listening to Su Chengyu, Master Chang Chun chuckled: "I don’t claim to calculate the celestial and terrestrial events; I don’t know everything, but I can see what you’re asking of me quite clearly."

Hearing the openness in the Master’s words, Su Chengyu actually felt relieved. He wasn’t afraid that this respected Daoist of the Quanzhen Sect would make exorbitant demands; what he feared was that the Master would refuse to engage with him at all, even knowing matters that concerned him, and would want to maintain a clear boundary.

"Rest assured, Master, I’m not here to make a request; I simply wish to propose a mutually beneficial deal," Su Chengyu clarified.

"A deal? With me?" Master Chang Chun asked with a smile, glancing at Su Chengyu before looking toward Lord Chou.

Lord Chou had an indifferent demeanor, signaling that this transaction had nothing to do with him and that it was purely Su Chengyu’s own business.

Master Chang Chun, upon seeing this, chuckled: "What can you, at the Late Stage of the Nascent Soul Realm, offer for a deal with me? That Immortal Artifact? Or the sword left to you by Su Linyuan? To be honest, although both items are of interest to me, I’m not particularly keen on them."

"I know, Master, that there are few who have a broader vision than you in this world, but no matter how great that vision might be, you are still from the Quanzhen Sect, aren’t you?" replied Su Chengyu.

Hearing this, Master Chang Chun narrowed his eyes at Su Chengyu: "Since I took the post of the Dean of the Imperial Observatory, my contact with the Quanzhen Sect has been minimal. Why would you think that I am still willing to make deals on behalf of Quanzhen?"

Su Chengyu smiled and said: "Mount Longhu, eager for the greatest support from the officials of Xia Country, deeply collaborates with the Zhao Family. There are numerous nobles on Mount Longhu with heavy influence from the Zhao Family; one might say it’s the Zhao Family’s spokesperson within the Dao Sect. Their glory and downfall are shared, which is known to all. As for the Quanzhen Sect being currently second in the Dao Sect, isn’t it all because you, Master, selflessly took up the post at the Imperial Observatory?"

Master Chang Chun remained silent and though his gaze towards Su Chengyu elevated somewhat, he still said, "After all, Quanzhen is not Dragon and Tiger."

"That is why the junior dared to come and seek the master."

Su Chengyu spoke candidly, "Quanzhen has virtually managed to obtain favorable treatment from Xia Country by lending the master to the Zhao Family, the range of sacrifice may be smaller, but the benefits gained by the Zhao Family are substantial enough. Thus, the actions of Quanzhen Sect are less constrained by the Zhao Family. As the only sacrifice Quanzhen has made, I believe this is the best proof of the master’s compassion for Quanzhen. Since I can bring benefits to Quanzhen, the master will surely not refuse."

Hearing Su Chengyu’s meticulous analysis, Master Chang Chun sighed deeply: "Truly, in every generation new talents arise to take the place of the old. Besides Long Xuan and Ye Qingci, there’s also someone like you in the younger generation that this poor Daoist did not discover. I’m really getting old and my insight is failing."

"The master is being modest. Have you not already instructed Prince Jue to invest in me?"

Master Chang Chun smiled and stated, "This disciple of mine has little skill, but plenty of ambition. I don’t know how far he can go in the future; I just hope you’ll remember this favor."

"Have no worries master, I will avenge every grievance and will keep every favor in my heart as well."

Master Chang Chun nodded and finally came to the point, "So, tell me, what exactly is the deal you want to make with Quanzhen?"

"The Supreme Daoist Scripture."

These four simple words instantly brightened Master Chang Chun’s eyes. He looked up at Su Chengyu, and to his surprise, said, "Did Su Linyuan truly pass on the entire Supreme Daoist Scripture to you?"

The Supreme Daoist Scripture was once the Su Clan’s encyclopedia, encompassing a broad array of knowledge. This was why Su Chongyang, who hailed from the Su Clan, wanted to take the Supreme Daoist Scripture with him when he set out to establish his own sect.

It can be said that the Supreme Daoist Scripture is the fundamental doctrine upon which Quanzhen Sect was established, even though Quanzhen now has many independent cultivation techniques created by later generations, not solely relying on the Supreme Daoist Scripture.

But tracing back to its roots, at least eighty percent of Quanzhen’s divine abilities can be said to have evolved from the Supreme Daoist Scripture.

A complete Supreme Daoist Scripture has always been something Quanzhen Sect has dreamt of having.

However, the connection between the Su Clan and Quanzhen is too remote. Even though both parties no longer bring up this ancient grievance now.

The Supreme Daoist Scripture has always been a source of shame for the Su Clan, and naturally, they are reluctant to allow Quanzhen to acquire it.

Su Chengyu was well aware of the significant importance of the Supreme Daoist Scripture to Quanzhen Sect, and thus he was confident that even Master Chang Chun would not have reason to refuse this deal.

"A fair exchange. If the master does not trust me, I can show the Dao Classics to the master first."

The other party is one of the Land Immortals, the pinnacle of this world, and Su Chengyu understood clearly that sincerity is what he needed the most when dealing with someone like that.

In front of such a person, his scheming was futile.

"There’s no need. Since we are making a deal, it must be fair. Otherwise, how would I explain to your master that this poor Daoist is making a deal with you and still trying to take advantage of you?"

Hearing this, Su Chengyu’s eyes lit up as he said, "So, does the master agree? Aren’t you going to ask what I want?"

Master Chang Chun gave him a look and said, "The fortunes hidden by Su Lin Yuan, the divine energy concealed through the Dragon Vein by Lord Chou, what you want as a matter of fact—how could this poor Daoist not figure it out? What’s the point of me being the Dean of the Imperial Observatory if I cannot? You just need people, right? While I cannot summon a Land Immortal, the Peak of the Hollow Void should be sufficient, shouldn’t it?"
