Chapter 1375: Chapter 1375: Honing the Sword’s Edge

"Are you sure it was someone by your side?"

You Ming turned his head to ask.

Su Chengyu nodded: "Regarding this matter, I still hope you can keep it a secret for me. Before I understand the true purpose of the Demonic Path, I don’t want anyone in the office to know about it."

Being of mixed heritage from the Nether Clan and the Human Clan, You Ming had a special identity and immediately grasped what Su Chengyu was worried about, so he nodded.

"Whatever you just said, I didn’t hear a thing," he said.

Having finished speaking, You Ming looked up towards the upper levels of the Tower of Eternal Winter: "All we are looking for now is a way to survive."

Having reached a consensus, the two of them finally focused on the only passage leading to the upper levels.

Neither of them knew what awaited them above, but at this moment, their only choice was to enter and seek the last glimmer of hope for survival.

With the opening of the wooden door, a howling chill wind came head-on, passing through the Protective Gang Qi and making one’s entire body feel cold.

This place was originally meant for imprisoning captives, but the strange atmosphere and environment made both of them even more cautious.

"Are there no guards?"

You Ming looked around at the calm surroundings, puzzled.

Su Chengyu also quietly commented as his gaze landed on the solitary cells scattered around: "Neither are there any prisoners."

It might be explained that there were no guards required for the topmost level, but the complete absence of prisoners was undoubtedly wrong.

While the Nether Clan wasn’t as rampant in the Bei Luo Empire as the Demon Clan once was in Huaxia, given the endless conflicts with the Dark Sea, the Bei Luo Empire had surely accrued a significant number of Nether Clan prisoners over the years.

This odd sight further confirmed Su Chengyu’s previous suspicion that the Tower of Eternal Winter had long become a gathering place for the Nether Clan, rather than a prison.

It was just unknown why they had not openly rebelled and, to outsiders, seemed still under the control of the Bei Luo Empire.

"Let’s go up another level," Su Chengyu proposed.

The topmost part of the tower had three levels, each increasing in security and importance of prisoners the higher one went.

According to what the Bei Luo soldier mentioned earlier, the person he was seeking was at the very top of the tower.

You Ming nodded, following Su Chengyu as they set off. Just as they were about to enter the next level, the wooden door suddenly opened.

Two members of the Nether Clan walked straight out. Both You Ming and Su Chengyu reacted extremely quickly, hiding behind cover and concealing their presence.

"What a nuisance. Aren’t they just two intruders? Why is the High Priest so concerned? Since a Red-Robed High Priest has already taken action, why do we need to search the entire upper level?"

The Nether Clan member who spoke did not have an extraordinarily high level of strength; his Golden Core was just at the intermediate stage and he had not noticed Su Chengyu and You Ming.

"Do you have a death wish? Daring to criticize the High Priest’s decision. Don’t you know that the High Priest now controls the entire Tower of Eternal Winter?" his companion retorted.

The alarming words caused both Su Chengyu and You Ming to inwardly startle. Their eyes met for a moment and reached an understanding, almost simultaneously taking action.

One to the left and one to the right, they both appeared behind the two Nether Clan members.

Without any hesitation, Su Chengyu’s Dragon Slayer Sword instantly pierced through one of the Nether Clan member’s body, shattering the Nether Stone within them, killing him.

On the other side, You Ming whispered to the second Nether Clan member in the Nether language: "If you don’t want to die, don’t make any noise!"

A battle between Nascent Soul and Golden Core was, by its nature, one without suspense.

Add to that both Su Chengyu and You Ming had the strength to fight across realms. Their decisive and stealthy attack left the two Nether Clan members with no chance to react.

The Nether Clan survivor, feeling the threat to his life, dared not make a move and completely gave up resistance, letting You Ming manipulate him as seen fit.

Following that, Su Chengyu watched as Yu Ming spoke in the Nether language with a member of the Nether Clan. Having only recently encountered the Nether Clan, Su Chengyu could catch bits of the Nether language, but the complex conversation eluded his full understanding.

In bits and pieces of the dialogue, Su Chengyu could confirm that Yu Ming was inquiring about the Red Robed High Priest. Then his expression quickly turned sour and after a few more questions, he abruptly thrust his sword through the Nether Clan member, severing the creature’s life.

"Yu Ming Saint Envoy?"

Su Chengyu asked, noticing the unusual expression on his face.

Yu Ming’s face darkened as he said, "It’s nothing, I got the information I needed, and that guy has no reason to live anymore."

Although Yu Ming was clearly trying to contain it, Su Chengyu could still feel the burning rage deep inside him. He said no more.

Yu Ming turned and approached the wooden door, manipulating a Technique with his hands.

Su Chengyu could tell that Yu Ming was still employing Daoism Method, but it was now mixed with Nether Technique. Clearly, he was using Daoism Method to drive the Nether Technique.

As the Technique was completed, Su Chengyu sensed an immediate presence of spatial rift on the door. What was once a gateway to the upper level, now seemed connected to another world entirely.

"This is..."

"The true passage leading to the upper level, originally meant to be the deepest cell of the Tower of Eternal Winter, and now, it has become a gathering place for the Nether Clan."

Su Chengyu looked at the somewhat impatient Yu Ming and voiced his concern, "Could it possibly be a trap?"

"Even if it is a trap, I have reasons why I must proceed."

Yu Ming spoke with unwavering conviction, a familiar look in his eyes signaling to Su Chengyu that anything he said at this point would be in vain.

At those words, Yu Ming hesitated no more and stepped into the rift. Within it, Su Chengyu could clearly feel that this crack led to countless small worlds connected to this place.

These small worlds all belonged to the space of the Tower of Eternal Winter. Some adept had divided and isolated these worlds, making each an independent realm.

There was no doubt that these small worlds had once served as prisons for important captives.

Su Chengyu guessed that each surrounding small world must have originally been laden with Prohibitions, ensuring the prisoners were thoroughly confined.

Now, the entrances to these small worlds were entirely open, allowing free entry.

Among these myriad entrances, Yu Ming’s Divine Sense rapidly scanned, as if searching for something specific.

Before Su Chengyu could even ask, Yu Ming had already found his target, the only locked realm among the countless unlocked ones.

Yu Ming attempted to unlock this space with the Nether Technique once more, but when the Crimson Long Sword struck the Prohibition, it was like a stone sinking into the ocean, creating not a single ripple.

"Can’t open it?"

Yu Ming frowned and muttered, clearly anxious.

The rift they were in was akin to a public corridor for these countless small realms, and lingering here for too long would undeniably increase their risk of exposure.

At this moment, Su Chengyu stepped forward and offered, "Shall I give it a try?"

Yu Ming looked at Su Chengyu surprisingly, then stepped aside, "Then I will entrust this to you."

Feeling the shift in Yu Ming’s attitude towards him, Su Chengyu said nothing. Frowning slightly at the Prohibition crafted with Nether Technique in front of him, he had no specific method to break open such seals at hand.

Yet, within his mind, the unrefined third Sword Technique which he had run through countless times, inherently suppressed the Prohibition.

Although still incomplete, now was the perfect chance for Su Chengyu to hone the edge of his sword.

Su Chengyu took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and his mind swirled with countless golden figures. The space between heaven and earth quickly diminished to only the Dragon Slayer Sword in his hand and the Prohibition in front of him.

As the gathering Sword Momentum hit its peak, he fiercely opened his eyes and slashed heavily at the Prohibition before him!

This sword, heaven-opening!
