Chapter 1287: Chapter 1287: The Person on the Platform

Ye Qingci ultimately didn’t speak those words. She wasn’t oblivious to the pressure Su Chengyu faced after arriving in the Capital City, and she didn’t want to add to his concerns at this critical moment.

What was more important was that things had already come to this point, and even though Ye Qingci did not entirely agree with Su Chengyu’s decision, she had to admit that it wasn’t certain she could have done any better had she been in his shoes.

One cannot comprehend the difficulties of a position without being in it.

This saying was applicable not only to those in higher positions but also to those below.

Even if there was always some distance from her family, Ye Qingci was well aware of how much benefit she had received from her Ye Family heritage, benefits that Su Chengyu did not have.

With this in mind, Ye Qingci looked at Su Chengyu once again.

He should have had them.

"Aunt Ye?"

Sensing Ye Qingci’s gaze, Su Chengyu instinctively spoke up, his voice tinged with anxiety.

"Is there something wrong with what I am doing?"

Ye Qingci shook her head, "You’ve done well enough. It’s just a matter of choice. Personally, I’d prefer you not to take such a risky path."

Su Chengyu clenched his fist and responded, "I know I tend to act impulsively. From now on, I’ll make sure to consult with Aunt Ye about anything that happens in the Capital City."

Long before, Su Chengyu had thought of seeking out Ye Qingci, but at that time, he was still being escorted to the Capital City, and it wasn’t appropriate or convenient for him to initiate a meeting with her.

However, once he found his footing in the Capital City, seeking out Ye Qingci wouldn’t be so troublesome.

"My decision might not necessarily be correct. It’s only a matter of different approaches to handling matters."

Despite harboring many personal thoughts on Su Chengyu’s judgments, Ye Qingci was clear about this.

It was related to their temperaments. Both of them wanted to investigate Su Linyuan’s past, and Ye Qingci could maintain a patient and silent resilience for over a decade, a temperament that Su Chengyu simply could not learn.

Ye Qingci also understood that even if she had a lifetime to try, she couldn’t learn Su Chengyu’s zealous spirit that he shared with Su Zhedian.

Thinking of Su Zhedian, Ye Qingci’s lips rarely curled upwards, "You’re becoming more and more like Big Brother Su."

"Aunt Ye..."

"Alright." Ye Qingci proactively changed the subject, speaking softly, "It’s good that you’re willing to discuss everything with me. You don’t have to take my view too seriously. I’m not closed to others’ ideas, but I do hope that before you act recklessly, you can at least convince me first."

Su Chengyu nodded emphatically at Ye Qingci, "Aunt Ye, I understand!"

Ye Qingci nodded and said no more, believing that Su Chengyu could grasp this measure of discretion.

"By the way, there’s one more thing you must promise me."

The sudden seriousness on Ye Qingci’s face left Su Chengyu puzzled as he inquired, "What’s that?"

"You must not use that sword technique you unleashed on Long Xuan before Hollow Vacuum ever again."

"Why?"

Su Chengyu asked instinctively.

Apart from Slaying Monster, Immortal Decapitating was currently Su Chengyu’s most powerful move. Even the second form of the Wasteland Sky Halberd couldn’t compare, which perfectly compensated for his greatest weakness. He couldn’t understand why Ye Qingci would impose such a prohibition on him.

"That time when you forcefully wielded the Immortal Artifact, the worst outcome would have been the destruction of your physical body, with a small chance of survival in a life-or-death situation. However, the sword intent against Long Xuan was too profound. If employed with full force, it won’t just exhaust your physical body, but your Nascent Soul will be completely drained too. Don’t you have any idea of the state you were in just now?"

Su Chengyu, genuinely unaware of the severity of his injuries, blinked and asked perplexedly, "Is it that serious? Then how did I recover in the end?"

"God-ranked Elixir."

The four simple words caused Su Chengyu to widen his eyes in shock.

Afraid that Su Chengyu wasn’t taking it seriously enough, Ye Qingci looked at him and continued, "Just like the God-ranked Elixir you were initially seeking, it’s also for repairing the God’s Soul."

"I ate it all by myself?"

"Otherwise, do you think you could be standing here?"

Su Chengyu was momentarily speechless. The Elixir that Feng Jie Yu had been searching for years had just been consumed by him alone?

Looking at the lingering scent of medicine in the room, Su Chengyu’s face stiffened. Then he turned his head and his expression became even more bizarre as he looked at Ye Qingci.

Perceiving Su Chengyu’s thoughts at a glance, Ye Qingci spoke coldly, "Don’t look at me like that. I don’t have a God-ranked Elixir on me, and the Demon Slayer Department wouldn’t offer a God-ranked Elixir to someone who hasn’t officially joined yet."

"Then the God-ranked Elixir I ate came from the Long family?"

Ye Qingci shook her head, not letting Su Chengyu continue to guess wildly and straightforwardly said, "The Qian family."

"The Qian family?"

Su Chengyu, hearing this answer, searched his mind but couldn’t recall any contact with someone from the Qian family.

Watching Su Chengyu’s reaction, Ye Qingci softly said, "You truly don’t know about the Qian family."

Hearing Ye Qingci’s words, Su Chengyu was even more perplexed, looking at her with confusion.

Ye Qingci didn’t keep him in the dark, recounting to Su Chengyu the sudden appearance of Qian Jinchí when he was half-unconscious, along with the events that followed.

After hearing the whole account, Su Chengyu was even more baffled, with no recollection of doing anything to merit a God-ranked Elixir.

Could it be that he had helped a junior from the Qian family before?

But what kind of help could be equivalent to a God-ranked Elixir?

Even saving a life couldn’t be worth that much, right?

"The Qian family is not a kind lot. Though they saved you this time, since they want to distance themselves from you, my advice is not to provoke the Qian family. You’ll only end up at a loss when you deal with them."

Su Chengyu listened to Ye Qingci’s words with some surprise and softly said, "Isn’t it just a Merchants Family? Is it worth Aunt Ye making such a fuss?"

"In terms of strength, in Xia Country, the Qian family can’t even compare to the Ancient Clans, much less to the Four-sided families. Yet, in dealing with them, not once in thousands of years did an Ancient Clan conclude a transaction without a loss. And despite that, the Ancient Clans still allowed the Qian family to exist for so long in Xia Country, what does that tell you?"

Su Chengyu was well aware of the vindictive nature of the Ancient Clan. That the Qian family could profiteer from them and avoid retribution was enough to demonstrate their capabilities.

However, the more Ye Qingci said, the more Su Chengyu wondered about his ties with the Qian family, which led them to extend such a significant favor, claimed to be a repayment to him.

The Qian family?

Su Chengyu silently noted this name in his heart, sensing something amiss, but couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

"Don’t overthink it. Even if you really want to find out why, the priority is to heal your injuries and secure a foothold in the Demon Slayer Department as soon as possible."

Su Chengyu took a deep breath, refocused, and asked, "Aunt Ye, what are my chances of joining the Demon Slayer Department now?"

"Fifty percent."

"Only fifty percent?"

Su Chengyu expressed his surprise; he had thought that after the life-and-death battle, joining the Demon Slayer Department was a sure thing.

"That’s quite a lot already. Three of the remaining fifty percent depends on the attitude of Yang Chengyin, and the other two..."

A distant sound of thunder interrupted Ye Qingci’s words as the nature’s spiritual energy inside the house suddenly became turbulent, seemingly drawn by some force, quickly sweeping toward a faraway place.

The sudden anomaly made Su Chengyu realize that something was amiss, and he looked up at Ye Qingci.

But a faint smile appeared on Ye Qingci’s face as she spoke softly, "The last two percent has arrived."

"Eh?"

Ye Qingci looked at Su Chengyu with a smile and softly said, "The person who has come to support you has arrived."
