Chapter 1740: Chapter 673: Blood Sacrifice Ritual_2
Lu Pingping carefully walked up the altar along the side steps and began to look at the situation on the altar. The altar seemed normal at first glance, but the runes engraved on it were very strange and looked ancient. Lu Pingping had no idea what they meant.
Lu Pingping approached the central boulder and discovered a very tiny slot on top, as if something had been inserted in it before. As she looked down along this slot, she found that it directly connected to the altar below, spreading outwards in extremely fine lines, connecting all the runes on the altar in an amazing way.
Upon seeing this, Lu Pingping got a strange feeling—the lines resembled capillaries in the human body, responsible for delivering vital nutrients to each rune, keeping the entire altar’s magical power active. But now, with no nutrients present, these capillaries had temporarily ceased functioning, rendering the altar semi-dormant. And her blood was the nourishment needed by the runes on the altar.
All Lu Pingping needed to do was drip her blood into the slot atop the central boulder. Her blood would flow onto the altar and along countless tiny lines pass through every rune, activating the mysterious abilities contained within them.
Previously, Lu Pingping had doubted Xia Fan’s intentions, suspecting he was just trying to trick her away from Dream Island and thus anything he said was nonsense. But after seeing the setup on the altar, she immediately realized that Xia Fan had not deceived her regarding the intelligence on the Dimensional Space Channel; this truly was a channel connecting two different dimensional spaces, and she was the special key to closing it.
Standing in the center of the altar, Lu Pingping vaguely sensed the presence of another world. She discovered a terrifying force emanating from that world, transmitted to Earth through the altar, affecting everything on Earth. With this realization, she understood that what Xia Fan said about High Dimensional Space was true—that this altar was the space channel. If she didn’t close this space channel, the other world could potentially send an unimaginably powerful enemy to Earth through it. If such a foe appeared, there was a high chance that Yan Fei would be killed. So, the best course of action now was not to find a way to take down this super expert, but to close the space channel and isolate the influence of the High Dimension on Earth.
The altar, which embodied this space channel, appeared vast, but since the lines connecting the runes were so thin, resembling capillaries, even if all the runes were lit using these thin lines, not much blood would actually be required. Before Lu Pingping’s blood ran dry, she should be able to light up all the runes.
Despite having made up her mind, Lu Pingping did not forget to protect herself. As Yan Fei had repeatedly instructed her beforehand not to leave Dream Island, she did not want to cause Yan Fei any worry or ruin his plans due to her own affairs. Therefore, her plan was to close the space channel as quickly as possible and then leave.
By now, Lu Pingping understood that this place wasn’t some gap between Three-Dimensional Space and Four-Dimensional Space, but rather on Earth. She just wasn’t sure where exactly on Earth it was, as she hadn’t left to find out. But after closing the space channel, she planned to go outside immediately and use the communicator she carried to contact the Artificial Intelligence, "Dream," and have Dream find a way to get her back to Dream Island.
The room was very spacious, and numerous torches lit it as if it were daylight, yet this did not provide Lu Pingping with a sense of safety because she constantly felt something was amiss. She suspected there was an unseen monster lurking in the room, watching her. She didn’t want to stay here a minute longer.
Lu Pingping stepped forward to stand near the central boulder. Before setting off, she had intentionally brought the paper cutter from the office with her, and now it served its purpose. She grasped the paper cutter in her palm, made a forceful cut, and a large wound appeared on her hand, from which blood gushed out, flowing through her clenched fist into the slot atop the boulder.
Although the boulder was massive, its exterior was unremarkable. However, as Lu Pingping’s blood flowed into it, the boulder seemed to come alive. Not only did its surface begin to transform from previously sharp-edged to smooth, but a muffled sound came from within, as if a heart were beating inside.
Upon noticing the change in the boulder, Lu Pingping felt a bit startled, unsure why such a situation was occurring. Nonetheless, at this point, she couldn’t stop her actions and could only continue letting her blood flow into the boulder’s slot.
Lu Pingping’s blood flowed through the slot onto the altar, and the long-dried-up, tiny lines quickly absorbed her blood like a vampire, rapidly spreading it across the altar.
As Lu Pingping’s blood flowed rapidly on the altar, the mysterious runes that came into contact with her blood began to mutate. They transformed from their previous still state to one brimming with vitality, as if something had awakened. Then, those runes changed from their previous monotonous color to becoming multicolored. Although numerous, the runes displayed a wide range of colors, with no two runes having exactly the same color...
