Chapter 1578: Chapter 613: The Death of Wang Yong_3

On the other side, I Am Who I Am reacted the fastest. His body flickered once, suddenly dispersing and transforming into a massive swarm of Bloodsucking Bats. The swarm surged toward Yan Fei’s direction, intending to rescue him.

No one else anticipated such a turn of events. However, upon seeing Yan Fei about to fall into the lava, some felt a surge of joy in their hearts. Yet at that moment, everyone’s vision blurred as they saw Yan Fei suddenly standing at the spot Wang Yong had just been, while Wang Yong appeared suspended above the lava, his belt still left on the Suspension Bridge.

It turned out that Yan Fei, realizing he couldn’t confront his opponent head-on, immediately devised a battle plan. His plan involved positioning himself above the lava, then, right when he was nearing the effective distance, activating a basic application of the Space Ability—which he had gained insight into while training in the Dreamland Cave World—a technique known as Teleportation. With this daring maneuver, Yan Fei successfully swapped positions with Wang Yong, achieving his goal.

Yan Fei’s Teleportation relied on the Power of Space, unrelated to conventional Energy. Thus, Wang Yong’s abilities couldn’t absorb this spatial force, allowing Yan Fei to succeed. In an instant, their positions reversed—Wang Yong falling toward the lava below, while Yan Fei stood where Wang Yong had been moments earlier.

Yan Fei noticed that Wang Yong originally intended to rescue him. After steadying himself, a thin steel wire appeared in Yan Fei’s hand, which he swung downward. The wire coiled around Wang Yong, attempting to pull him back from above the lava.

From Yan Fei’s perspective, Wang Yong was as good as doomed. By saving Wang Yong’s life, no matter what exchanges Wang Yong might have had with destiny previously, they would now be rendered void. Once Wang Yong was rescued, he wouldn’t obstruct their progress again, allowing them to pass this checkpoint and confront destiny directly. Even if Wang Yong, because of his ties to destiny, refrained from joining them, at the very least he would remain neutral here, neither assisting nor opposing them.

The clash and shifting scenarios between Wang Yong and Yan Fei happened so quickly that almost no one could react. As Yan Fei prepared to pull Wang Yong back, everyone else only stood watching. But suddenly, Huo Shan, the Old Man of the Mountains, intervened. Her fingers flicked, sending out a small flying knife. In an instant, the knife severed the steel wire, causing Wang Yong to plummet downward.

I Am Who I Am, who had already flown above the lava, hesitated about Yan Fei’s intentions and helplessly watched as Wang Yong continued falling. Yan Fei shouted, "Save him now!"

Unfortunately, Yan Fei’s warning came too late. When I Am Who I Am, in his bat swarm form, tried to grab Wang Yong, Wang Yong’s body had already sunk into the lava lake. The intense heat of the lava began singeing the bats’ feathers, even killing some of them. Faced with no other choice, I Am Who I Am abandoned the rescue task, flying back to the shore and reverting to human form. However, severe burns quickly appeared all over his body.

While Wang Yong had fallen into the lava, the extreme heat within the lava, considered a type of Energy, could still be absorbed in significant quantities by him. As a result, Wang Yong remained unharmed at first. Just as Yan Fei swung the steel wire again to rescue Wang Yong, the Lightning Controller suddenly unleashed a bolt of lightning. It struck Yan Fei, paralyzing his body.

This brief delay proved fatal. Wang Yong’s absorption of heat quickly exceeded his limit, and the lava outside continued pouring Energy into him ceaselessly. Wang Yong’s body began to swell rapidly, seemingly on the brink of being torn apart by the energy inside.

In his final moments, Wang Yong looked at Yan Fei. There was no resentment in his eyes—instead, a faint smile emerged. Perhaps only Wang Yong knew what he meant by it. Then, Wang Yong started waving toward Yan Fei, as if bidding him farewell.

Soon, Wang Yong’s body expanded to its limit, triggering a cataclysmic explosion within the lava. The eruption created a massive crater in the molten lake, sending blazing waves of lava crashing outward like raging tides, colliding with the adjacent Platform. Wang Yong’s body was shredded into countless tiny fragments, which ignited and turned into ashes. As the surrounding lava surged back and the surface of the molten lake regained its calm, all traces of Wang Yong had vanished completely...
