Chapter 1554: Chapter 605 Start Assembling_2
Captain China said, "Please take a seat. We need to wait for others to arrive."
Yan Fei and I Am Who found a stone nearby and sat down, starting to observe Tripiṭaka and Beast across from them. They noticed that Tripiṭaka’s face was full of wrinkles, his head completely bald, while his eyebrows and beard had turned snow-white. He appeared extremely frail, as if he could die at any moment...
It had been a year since Yan Fei last met Tripiṭaka. Back then, Tripiṭaka tried to seize the small space behind the Light Portal in the underwater plaza of the Bermuda Triangle. He used a forbidden technique to rapidly refine the Control Boundary Stele of the small space, but ended up crushed by Sun Family’s Head Sun Tie, who had transformed into a Super Titan. Not only did Tripiṭaka fail in refining the Control Boundary Stele, but he also suffered serious injuries.
After escaping from the small space, Tripiṭaka went into hiding to recover from his injuries, spending a full year to heal completely. However, having burned a significant amount of his life force using a forbidden technique, although his wounds healed, his life force could not replenish, which is why Tripiṭaka now looked so aged and feeble!
Tripiṭaka was a God-Level Expert. Normally, he could live over 200 to 300 years. But after sacrificing his life force, his appearance aged rapidly, and this aging was irreversible. In Yan Fei’s view, while Tripiṭaka still retained the strength of a God-Level Expert, his remaining life span would likely be less than ten years.
Previously, Tripiṭaka dressed in monk robes. Despite behaving like a monk in manner and conduct, he gave off an unreliable, foreign monk vibe. Now, with his frail appearance matched with the monk robes, he truly exuded the aura of an enlightened monk, with no trace of his former slyness.
Seeing Yan Fei observing him, Tripiṭaka folded his hands together and chanted, "Amitabha, Mr. Yan Fei, hello. We meet again."
Although Tripiṭaka had aged dramatically, looking as if he might die at any moment, Yan Fei dared not underestimate him. After all, Tripiṭaka had acquired memories from an old ghost who had performed possession. Though he hadn’t obtained much of the ghost’s memory, it was enough for him to learn many ancient secrets.
From the old ghost’s memories, Tripiṭaka learned of the immense benefits of refining the small space. This knowledge drove him to obsessively attempt to refine the Control Boundary Stele of the small space. In Tripiṭaka’s perspective, gaining control of the small space would endow him with godlike power.
However, this was only Tripiṭaka’s wishful thinking. After becoming the master of Dreamland Cave World, Yan Fei discovered the small space’s energy had been depleted and was on the verge of complete collapse. Even if Tripiṭaka had gained control of the small space, he wouldn’t have experienced any power increase. Instead, he would have died along with the collapse of the small space. In truth, when Sun Tie destroyed the Boundary Stele, he was not robbing the small space from Tripiṭaka but saving him.
This incident also served as a reminder to Yan Fei: no matter what operations he conducted, the energy of Dreamland Cave World must not fall below the warning threshold. Otherwise, not only would Dreamland Cave World collapse, but Yan Fei, as its master, would also face death.
Yan Fei alone was privy to these details, but he had no obligation to elucidate them for Tripiṭaka. He said indifferently, "Tripiṭaka, since leaving the small space, I’ve greatly missed you. I originally wanted to seek you out for a chat but was disappointed to find you lacked courage and went into hiding to heal your injuries. What a pity."
Yan Fei referred to the time after leaving the small space, when Dream Island declared war on The United States of America. Using drones, Yan Fei attacked the US Navy aircraft carrier fleet stationed in the Bermuda Triangle. During that time, Tripiṭaka and Beast were gravely injured, making it an ideal opportunity to eliminate them completely. But instead, Tripiṭaka and other God-Level Experts chose to flee to a submarine at the earliest chance, thwarting Yan Fei’s plans for total annihilation.
Tripiṭaka was clearly aware of Yan Fei’s mockery, but his thick skin allowed him to feign ignorance. He smiled and said, "Mr. Yan Fei, there’s no need for regret, as we are about to join forces once again to confront the Destiny Organization."
Yan Fei snorted coldly. Unable to deal with Tripiṭaka’s shamelessness, he simply chose not to speak further with him.
Beast stood beside Tripiṭaka, his lion-head face still bearing a massive scar. This scar was left by Gu Xiaolan during their encounter in the small space. Gu Xiaolan’s attack was exceptionally peculiar, infused with a strange property. Although Beast was a God-Level Expert with strong regenerative abilities, fully healing his injuries took him an entire year. Despite healing, the scar remained indelible, marking his face and chest permanently.
Perhaps the trials in the small space had changed him. Beast now seemed more introspective, rarely speaking, as though contemplating life. However, upon noticing I Am Who beside Yan Fei, he immediately turned his focus to I Am Who. As a Beast transformed physically, Beast saw potential in consulting I Am Who, who as a Vampire could transform into a Bat Swarm. Beast hoped to obtain guidance from I Am Who on how to revert his beastly form back to human.
The five God-Level Experts waited within the cave. About ten minutes later, there was a loud crack of thunder outside, followed by a bolt of electrical light. A small woman clad in a purple mage robe and wearing a mage hat entered the cave. This woman, a Caucasian, held a slender magic wand in her hand. Beside her stood another Caucasian man, carrying a massive Long Sword on his back.
Yan Fei recognized the man as Contrelas, someone he’d briefly encountered in the small space. However, he saw the woman for the first time, immediately identifying her as the current guardian of the Western Church—Lightning Controller. Yan Fei had battled Lightning Controller twice before but had never seen her in person. To his surprise, this powerful new guardian turned out to be a woman.
Lightning Controller was not one for small talk. Upon entering the cave, she greeted no one, simply finding a place to sit and quietly rest. Contrelas, on the other hand, behaved differently. Spotting I Am Who within the cave, he immediately flew into a rage. Drawing his massive Long Sword, he charged at I Am Who while shouting, "Damn demon, I will exorcise you today!"
Seeing Contrelas charging at him, I Am Who’s eyes displayed signs of reflection, clearly trying to recall the man’s identity. However, with his incomplete memories, he couldn’t figure out why Contrelas wanted him dead. I Am Who’s combat instincts were exceedingly sharp; even as his mind pondered, his body transformed into a Bat Swarm, evading Contrelas’s sword strike.
Yan Fei’s face showed displeasure. Suddenly, he raised his hand, using two fingers to effortlessly catch Contrelas’s slash mid-air. Contrelas was startled and tried to pull back his sword, but Yan Fei’s overpowering strength held it firmly. Sensing Contrelas’s struggle, Yan Fei released his fingers, allowing Contrelas to retrieve the sword. Meanwhile, the Bat Swarm condensed once more into the form of I Am Who.
Turning to Tripiṭaka, Yan Fei demanded, "Tripiṭaka, what’s the deal with this man? He attacks my friend the moment we meet. Are we even here to get any work done?"
Seeing Contrelas still preparing to strike, Tripiṭaka coughed and said, "Everyone, we have a more important mission today. Internal conflicts must be avoided at all costs. If you hold personal grudges, it’s best to settle them after this operation concludes. We’ve waited a long time for this opportunity, and there won’t be a second chance if we fail. I don’t want anyone to sabotage this mission. Otherwise, the one who causes its failure will face the wrath of all."
Contrelas looked around—at the locked gaze of I Am Who, the latent hostility of Yan Fei and Captain China, and even the looming threat of Tripiṭaka and Beast—while noting that Lightning Controller showed no intention of aiding him, remaining seated with her eyes closed.
Comparing the strength on both sides, Contrelas realized he was outmatched. He let out a cold snort, re-sheathed his Long Sword onto his back, and found a corner to sit in, sulking quietly.
