Chapter 1516: Chapter 592: Pioneering Team
Once consensus was reached, Britain’s Famous Detective Robin stated, "Since that is the case, let us challenge the legendary destiny and see if it truly controls the direction of our society’s development."
Japan’s Famous Detective Takashi Hasegawa said, "We have roughly confirmed the existence of the Destiny Organization, but apart from the clues received from the President of The United States of America and Yan Fei on Dream Island, we have found no intelligence on the activities of the Destiny Organization in this era. So where do we start our investigation?"
Robin said, "Neither Mr. Hasegawa nor I can conjure investigative leads out of thin air, but Mr. Gary Zach possesses such an ability. This is because Mr. Zach has supernatural ability, which allows him to find the origin of a case in an inconceivable way; that’s also why Mr. Zach’s case-solving rate has always been 100%. Therefore, Mr. Zach can make the first move, find a direction for the investigation, and then we can conduct a detailed investigation on this direction."
Gary Zach was somewhat silent, and he hadn’t spoken until everyone needed his ability, at which point he began to take action. He first pulled out two large jugs of alcohol from under the table and placed them on the table in front of him.
Gary Zach said with some sadness, "I know everyone is curious as to how I solve cases and why I can achieve a 100% success rate. However, my case-solving process is quite simple: as long as I drink and get myself drunk, I can find the clues to crack the case, but what is hardest is the price I pay for solving cases."
Takashi Hasegawa heard about Gary Zach’s case-solving process for the first time and asked curiously, "Mr. Zach, what price do you have to pay for your ability to solve cases?"
Instead of answering Takashi Hasegawa’s question directly, Gary Zach countered, "How old do you think I am this year?"
The Four Major Detectives are relatively familiar with each other’s information, but Gary Zach was shrouded in mystery, so nobody really knew his age. Observing Gary Zach’s whitened hair and beard, as well as the wrinkles on his face, Robin ventured a guess, "Mr. Zach, I think you must be sixty years old!"
Takashi Hasegawa also speculated, "I think Mr. Zach might already be over seventy."
Gary Zach let out a wry laugh and said, "By my appearance, I’m at least in my sixties or seventies. But would you believe it? I am only twenty-eight years old this year. I was in the prime of my physical health, but now I look like an old man who could die at any moment, powerless over everything."
Gary Zach’s hair and beard had completely whitened, and his face was full of wrinkles, making him appear a decrepit old man, though no one would have guessed he was only twenty-eight years old.
Takashi Hasegawa said, "Mr. Zach, is the price you pay for using your supernatural ability to solve cases... your own lifespan?"
Gary Zach nodded sorrowfully and said, "Indeed, every use of my supernatural power consumes a significant portion of my lifespan. That’s also why I’m aloof outside and reluctant to take on petty cases. I was just an ordinary black man, living a tough life, but I started to live the good life I wanted after gaining this supernatural ability. So from this point of view, you don’t need to comfort me because I still consider myself to have benefited from this supernatural power."
The other two detectives were somewhat silent, never having imagined the price behind Gary Zach’s perfect case-solving rate. However, with Zach himself being at peace with it, there was not much else to think about.
Gary Zach unscrewed the lid of the jug and took a big swig of alcohol. As the large dose of alcohol entered his system, Zach became dizzy; his body began to sway, and his eyes started to show bloodshot veins.
Gary Zach didn’t speak; he just kept pouring alcohol into his mouth. Then he started to show signs of drunkenness, with the blood veins in his eyes growing more pronounced. The US Forces Major General had never seen Gary Zach’s case-solving process before and was surprised by it. However, the other two detectives clearly knew of Gary Zach’s amazing abilities and did not stop him from drinking, instead watching him with great anticipation.
After emptying the first jug, Gary Zach became totally intoxicated; his eyes were filled with bloodshot veins, looking like he might collapse at any moment, causing concern among the three people beside him.
Robin quietly asked, "Mr. Zach, do you perceive anything now?"
Gary Zach burped, opened the other jug, and took several fierce gulps. Then he declared decisively, "The Destiny Organization truly exists... I can see them."
Takashi Hasegawa asked, "Can you see where the Destiny Organization is located?"
With his body swaying, Gary Zach slurred, "I don’t know, there’s a fog before my eyes. Although I can see the Destiny Organization behind the mist, I do not know where exactly they are located."
Robin said, "Then can you make out any other details about the Destiny Organization?"
Gary Zach, in his drunken stupor, said, "Can’t see clearly...ugh..."
Takashi Hasegawa asked, "How many people are in the Destiny Organization?"
Gary Zach burped again and said, "I don’t know, it’s empty inside the Destiny Organization, as if there’s no one there at all..."
