Chapter 1202
Chapter 1202: Chapter 474: Underground Shelter_3 Chapter 1202: Chapter 474: Underground Shelter_3 Yan Fei had been worried about The United States of America using nuclear weapons to attack Dream Island since declaring war on them, which is why he had all personnel evacuated from Dream Island in advance. However, he never expected his concern to finally come to fruition–The United States of America decided to use nuclear weapons against Dream Island.
Yan Fei asked anxiously, “Have Lu Pingping and Yang Qi been evacuated from Dream Island?”
“Dream” replied, “They have received your orders, but they didn't leave Dream Island. Instead, they've decided to wait for your return; they want to share the island's fate with you. Currently, Lu Pingping is directing the evacuation of personnel on the island. She's even throwing cargo from the ships into the sea just to evacuate more people; Yang Qi is continuing his scientific research in the laboratory.”
Yan Fei felt somewhat ashamed. For the sake of revenge for Wen Rou, he had put Dream Island in extreme danger and implicated Lu Pingping and Yang Qi. They opted to stay behind for Yan Fei, choosing to share Dream Island's fate. This made Yan Fei feel the weight of his responsibility–he must resolve the nuclear weapons crisis brought by The United States of America; otherwise, not only Wen Rou would die, but Lu Pingping and Yang Qi as well.
Yan Fei thought for a moment, then said, “Dream, immediately inform Lu Pingping of the location of Dream Island's underground shelter. Tell her not to arrange for people to evacuate by sea. Evacuate everyone to the underground shelter.”
Ever since the discovery that the bedrock beneath Dream Island was made of solid rock, Yan Fei had planned to construct a large shelter underground. With rock as strong as steel, even if Dream Island suffered a nuclear attack, the inhabitants could survive in this subterranean shelter.
However, the underground shelter was a super project. Even with Yan Fei's ability to excavate space underground, it couldn't be completed in a short amount of time. After all this time, Yan Fei had only dug out an initial-sized cave 200 meters deep underground without having time to further furnish this cavern.
The shelter was vast enough to accommodate one million people. Yet, the environment was harsh; aside from ventilation, there were no life support systems inside, making prolonged human habitation challenging. However, when facing a nuclear attack from The United States of America, this underground shelter would be a very safe place. Once the attack was over, these people could be transferred out and sent away from Dream Island.
Knowing the situation was at its most critical, Yan Fei ordered Lu Pingping to stop transferring personnel by sea. Without satellites, The United States of America's intercontinental missiles had lost their accuracy. If a nuclear missile veered off course, it could hit the evacuation ships on the ocean, potentially killing tens of thousands.
By temporarily hiding in the underground shelter, these people would find true safety only after Yan Fei determined the outcome of the conflict with The United States of America.
With Yan Fei's directive, “Dream” immediately informed Lu Pingping of the unopened rudimentary shelter and helped her conduct a mass evacuation.
After arranging for the safety of Dream Island's inhabitants, Yan Fei said, “Dream, post a brief message online for me; make sure everyone can see it. The message should read: Dream Island is about to conduct a long-range missile test, please stay tuned! Set the launch for ten minutes from now, with the missiles targeting Micha Island at the westernmost end of the Hawaii archipelago.”
Micha Island was a tiny island at the western extremity of Hawaii, with a harsh environment, barren of any vegetation or life, lacking any resources, and therefore of no developmental value. Hence, the island was uninhabited, and it was located over one hundred nautical miles from the nearest Hawaiian island. This missile attack was destined to shock the world and cause massive damages, which is why Yan Fei chose such a desolate island for the unique missile test.
Under that unknown Artificial Intelligence's stealthy attack, the AI “Dream” was burdened with a substantial computational load, almost entirely losing control of the Dream Island Defense System initially. However, as time passed, “Dream” began to leverage its home court advantage. Combined with its astonishingly rapid evolutionary capabilities, it was gaining the upper hand in the battle against the invading Artificial Intelligence.
By now, “Dream” had regained enough control to perform other operations; otherwise, it would not have discovered the top-secret intelligence that The United States of America was planning a nuclear attack on Dream Island. Upon receiving Yan Fei's order, “Dream” immediately invaded the global network world and social media platforms, uploading the brief statement Yan Fei had prepared.
Within just a few minutes, people around the world who were still awake learned of Dream Island's impending missile test. Then, they started to wonder why such a routine missile test was being announced so publicly by Dream Island.
Was Dream Island trying to flaunt its long-range missile capabilities? That seemed unlikely because everyone knew that Dream Island had already acquired space satellite launch capabilities, with a single rocket launching twenty-seven large satellites, carrying over 300 tons in just one mission.
If it wasn't to showcase their ability to launch long-range missiles, then why was Dream Island making such a public spectacle of this particular missile launch? What exactly was Dream Island trying to achieve? Moreover, why was Micha Island, at the westernmost edge of Hawaii, chosen as the target for the missile? Was there a secret about this island unknown to the world?
