Chapter 988 - 988 974 Asking for Trouble
Chapter 988: Chapter 974: Asking for Trouble Chapter 988: Chapter 974: Asking for Trouble Li Mo set the food on the table.
Ye Chen stood up and asked, “What’s the situation?”
Ling Bo replied, “They’ve sailed out to sea.”
Xuan Si was shocked and somewhat incredulous, saying, “How is that possible?”
Li Mo answered, “The people from Zun Yu must have prepared the ships. There were two vessels waiting for them by the seashore. They got straight on board, and we simply couldn’t catch up.”
Xuan Si started to worry and said, “How have they escaped again?” Not long ago, he had learned that the Tianye Demons fled into the Wuji Domain, and it was not easy to join forces to corner them, only for the people of the Third Demon to escape yet again.
Li Mo complained, “Those bastards in the Immortal Demon Realm only look out for themselves. It’d be surprising if they had managed to capture them.” There was an obvious tone of complaint in his voice.
Ling Bo said, “These matters have to be left to Lou Xuancheng from Demon Palace City to handle now. We can’t take responsibility for this; after all, it’s happening in the Central Plains.”
Ye Chen felt it was a pity, but he could only sigh.
Ling Bo said, “Jiang Zhuge is leaving the Central Plains tomorrow, returning to the Wastelands.”
Ye Chen had already made things clear to Jiang Zhuge; during his absence, he had entrusted everything to Jiang Zhuge and Shi Mu. He still felt very confident in Jiang Zhuge, and continued, “If the Immortal Demon Realm needs help, have them go to Jiang Zhuge. You stay in the Central Plains to assist them.” He looked at Ling Bo.
Ling Bo said, “Then I will prepare a group of people to set sail with you.”
Xuan Si was very puzzled and asked, “What, Ye Chen, you’re going to set sail?” He had no idea why Ye Chen was going to sea.
Li Mo said, “To find the Sacred Spirit Sect, of course we need to go to sea.”
“What do you need the Sacred Spirit Sect for?”
“Divine Doctor Zhu said that the Sacred Spirit Sect has the Sacred Spirit Stone which possesses Pangu’s strength. Perhaps it can even destroy the Wolf King’s Ring.”
Ye Chen glanced at Ling Bo and said, “No need to prepare anyone. It’s not like we are going to fight; just keep the communication open.”
Ling Bo gave a slight nod after hearing this.
Upon hearing this, Xuan Si finally relaxed a bit, and looking at the monkey, he said, “Can the Sacred Spirit Stone really destroy the Wolf King’s Ring?”
Li Mo replied, “The Sacred Spirit Stone holds the power of Pangu’s creation of the world. If it can’t destroy the Wolf King’s Ring, then no power could.”
Ye Chen called out, “Aren’t you guys hungry? I’m starving. Let’s eat quickly.”
Dragonfly Mountain.
The mist hadn’t completely dispersed, and the sun had reached mid-mountain when Wan Danrong was preparing to eat. She hadn’t seen Shi Xueqin and even asked Yang Tao’er, “Where is Miss Qiner?”
“I don’t know.”
Wan Danrong ran into Shi Xueqin’s room and found a farewell letter. It turned out that Ms. Shi Xueqin had already left early that day.
“Miss Qiner has left.”
Guo Yuqing looked over, concerned that Shi Xueqin had been entrusted to them for care by Ye Chen. They could hardly believe she had left, and what was even more worrying was the thought of this helpless girl, pregnant and unfamiliar with the area, and where she might go.
Yang Tao’er came running over, murmuring, “She really did leave.”
Wan Danrong looked at Yang Tao’er and said, “What should we do now?”
“What can we do? I can’t watch her all the time, nor can I lock her up. The feet are hers, and if she wants to go, you can’t stop her,” Yang Tao’er mumbled, still pondering over what would happen when Guo Yuyun woke up. That was the real troublesome one.
“All by herself, where can she possibly go?” Guo Yuqing asked worriedly.
“Didn’t she write it? She has a place to stay,” Yang Tao’er pointed at the letter, shaking her head and saying, “I saw her leave before dawn, so there’s no way to catch up now. Even if we brought her back, if she wants to leave, she’ll leave anyway.”
That was indeed true.
“I advise you to start thinking about how to comfort Guo Yuyun instead.” Yang Tao’er shook her head, exclaiming, “That damn monkey just doesn’t make things easy for anyone. He dusts off and goes his way, leaving us to clean up after him. How can he be so nonchalant?”
It was indeed a headache.
Wan Danrong said, “I can’t act, and I can’t say it either. It’s better for you two to comfort her.”
Yang Tao’er looked at Guo Yuqing and said coldly, “It looks like I’ll have to be the bad guy.”
Somebody had to tell Guo Yuyun that Ye Chen had died on Sky Mountain. Wan Danrong refused, Guo Yuqing was her sister and probably couldn’t bear to say it, so it fell to Yang Tao’er.
Wan Danrong said, “You’re the most suited for it, you’re the best at playing the bad guy.”
“Right, one day when Guo Yuyun learns the truth, I’ll be the first one she cuts down. It’s none of your concern,” Yang Tao’er continued with her work while shouting, “Godfather, breakfast is ready.”
Divine Doctor Zhu answered with a voice.
Yang Tao’er nudged the dazed Wan Danrong, saying, “Stop staring blankly, hurry up and bring out the food. Are we all here to be young ladies? This isn’t an inn.”
Guo Yuqing had just stood up. Since Ye Chen left two days ago, she had been restless, often losing focus and unable to concentrate, saying, “I’ll do it.” And with that, she was already heading to the kitchen.
What else could she do? The person was gone, what could be done? She must accept it and hope she’s all right. In the days to come, she would have to take good care of her own sister too.
Shi Xueqin wandered the streets alone, feeling restless, feeling like she was degrading herself. What was she doing?
But after Ye Chen’s analysis, she couldn’t help but worry.
If Longhun were in Ling Li and Su Zhanze’s hands, then there was always the possibility that Longhun could be killed at any moment. Why couldn’t she just turn a blind eye? Was it because of the child in her belly?
If Longhun died, then the child would be fatherless. When this child was born, would he come back to resent her, or was it because she had loved Longhun deeply?
Even though Longhun had killed her father, when he found out she had been captured and was in mortal danger, he had risked his own safety to come back and save her.
But he was the assassin of her biological father, her sworn enemy. Yet if she didn’t save him, no one would know of his whereabouts.
After the last encounter with Shi Xueqin, Ling Li had left behind an address; she knew where Ling Li was.
She couldn’t just stand by, even though she hated him deeply, she couldn’t let him die without trying to save him.
Time was not on her side. If Longhun’s value was exploited, he would be killed. She had to find Longhun quickly.
Suddenly, a few familiar figures appeared ahead; weren’t those Meng Xiuluo and Mo Ku? How could they be here? Though they were in disguise, Shi Xueqin recognized them from a dozen yards away.
Meng Xiuluo seemed to have seen her too. After the great defeat on Dragon Slayer Island, many died, some fled, but Meng Xiuluo and a group led by Mo Ku had survived. Knowing that Longhun was taken by a mysterious group, they still risked danger and infiltrated back into the Central Plains. She believed, the Young Master must still be alive, and within the Central Plains.
“Miss Qin, you’re still alive?” Meng Xiuluo looked around cautiously, for they were still on the street, where being recognized by people from the immortals and demons realm might lead to unnecessary trouble.
“You all managed to escape as well,” said Shi Xueqin nonchalantly.
Meng Xiuluo pointed to an inn ahead, and said, “Let’s go to the inn.”
Meeting Meng Xiuluo still came as a shock to Shi Xueqin. The Dragon Slayer Island had been breached, and disciples of the Dragon Slaying Clan dared to return to the Central Plains. Yet upon deeper thought, she realized, Meng Xiuluo and Mo Ku must have come back in search of Longhun. She asked, “You came back to find the Young Master, right?”
“Do you know the Young Master’s whereabouts?” Meng Xiuluo inquired.
Mo Ku had already led her to a secluded inn, found a pre-arranged room, entered, and after a meticulous check to ensure there was nothing out of the ordinary, closed the door of the room.
“Dragon Slayer City has been destroyed, and Guan Gutuo has fallen in battle. Those that are dead are dead, those that left have fled; there’s no Dragon Slaying Clan left,” said Meng Xiuluo.
Guan Gutuo was the one who loved Shi Xueqin the most. Hearing of Guan Gutuo’s death, tears uncontrollably fell from Shi Xueqin’s eyes.
Meng Xiuluo quickly said, “Don’t cry, we’re still family. As long as we share both the bitterness and the sweetness, we’ll make it through.” She poured a cup of tea for Shi Xueqin.
Shi Xueqin still wept.
Meng Xiuluo continued, “We are searching for the Young Master now. We heard a group versed in the Dragon Slaying Clan’s martial arts took him. But I don’t believe it, how could people of our clan capture the Young Master?” After searching for over ten days with no leads, she felt somewhat dejected, unsure of what to do.
Shi Xueqin then blurted out, “Stop searching, he’s in the hands of Ling Li and Su Zhanze.”
Upon hearing this, Meng Xiuluo was almost unable to believe it, as if she had been struck by lightning, asking, “How do you know this?”
“The New City Sect Leader, Ye Chen, figured it out.”
Mo Ku looked over.
Shi Xueqin then went over Ye Chen’s analysis and the events of the recent days in detail, though she did not reveal to them about carrying Longhun’s child.
Upon hearing this, Mo Ku was surprised and asked, “Have you seen Ling Li?” If she had seen Ling Li, she would definitely know who killed her father, and worry filled him again.
“I have.”
“And your father…?”
Looking at him, Shi Xueqin demanded, “Were you involved too?”
Mo Ku hung his head low after hearing this.
Shi Xueqin’s demeanor cooled further. Mo Ku was merely a minor leader. To have killed her father, it must have been the Young Master’s decision. Without the Young Master’s consent, who would dare to kill Shi Yin Zun? She involuntarily continued to wipe her tears.
Mo Ku anxiously said, “I’m the one who killed your father. If you wish to seek revenge, come to me; it has nothing to do with the Young Master.” As he spoke, he had already knelt down, believing that Shi Xueqin must know Ling Li’s whereabouts, and afraid that she would not be willing to help them.
Meng Xiuluo handed her a handkerchief.
Shi Xueqin accused, “Did you all really have to kill my father?”
Mo Ku choked up and couldn’t speak, remaining with his head lowered.
