Chapter 932 - 932 918 The Truth of the Matter
Chapter 932: Chapter 918: The Truth of the Matter Chapter 932: Chapter 918: The Truth of the Matter Fang Ziren was also at a loss.
No one spoke.
After a long while, Fang Ziren finally said, “Xuan Wen, tell me, should we keep waiting?”
“Even if you don’t want to wait, you can’t leave anyway,” Xuan Wen said.
That was indeed the reality.
Hearing this, Xuan Hong spoke up, “Let’s fight to the end with them, die together if we must.”
Gu Xueyun sneered, “I’m afraid that even if you want to die together with them, they might not want to die together with you. Dragon Soul has precisely targeted our weak spot. The plan is to exhaust us for two days, undermine our morale, and when our spirits are low, they will clean up what’s left. By then, we’ll collapse on our own, and they will be able to annihilate us without paying a heavy price.”
Xuan Wen, still clueless, clung to the hope that someone would come to their rescue, and said, “Let’s wait one more day.”
An underling said, “But if no one can come by tomorrow, what should we do then?”
“Tomorrow night, whether we die together with them or something else, we’ll discuss it then,” Xuan Wen said, not having a better idea and unsure if Guan Yi and the others could still come to help.
He knew these people were on the verge of collapsing, but all they could do was wait a little longer to see if the heavens would truly offer them an opportunity.
Who would have expected things to turn out this way, no one wished for such a situation to occur.
The fates of Ling Bo and the others were still unknown, so he couldn’t possibly place the blame on them.
In the morning, Dragon Soul summoned Slaughter Saint and Jing Po.
“Alright, today’s the day. No more playing games with them. We’ll take care of them today and then head to Heavenly City for a final showdown, to wipe out the Immortal and Demon Realms,” Dragon Soul knew that Elder Xi Feng had bitten down on Guan Yi and the others but couldn’t be sure how long it would last.
Jing Po was already itching for a fight, saying, “Great, they’re certainly doomed today.”
Slaughter Saint added, “We are ready, and they’re about to crumble.”
“Let’s give them a taste of being attacked from all sides,” Dragon Soul said with utmost confidence.
“Exactly, this bunch of fools think they’re so clever. They’ve underestimated the situation,” Jing Po remarked.
However, Dragon Soul noticed that Su Zhanze was not in the tent and asked, “Where is Su Zhanze?”
One of the subordinates replied from behind, “He said he had a stomachache.”
Dragon Soul had actually wanted him to take the lead in the charge.
Jing Po commented, “This guy just can’t bear it. Knowing that we’re going to annihilate them today, he’s trying to be benevolent.”
Dragon Soul chuckled and said, “Never mind, follow the plan we made yesterday. You go ahead now, and I’ll be there in half an hour. Today, we must annihilate them without wasting any more time.”
Jing Po and Slaughter Saint quickly withdrew.
But not long afterward, a subordinate rushed over, holding a note, burst inside, and blurted out, “Young lady Shi Xueqin has been captured.”
Dragon Soul was shocked and exclaimed, “Weren’t you protecting her?” He opened the note which contained an address and a warning that only he could come alone, or else Shi Xueqin would be killed.
“But the person who took her has strong martial arts, just knocked us right out.”
“Someone abducted Shi Xueqin from our camp?” Dragon Soul was surprised. It was bold for someone to dare to kidnap a person from his encampment.
“Yes, we were as shocked.”
“How many people?”
“Just one person. He took Shi Xueqin, left this note, and seemed well prepared.”
Dragon Soul laughed coldly, as if he had already guessed who it was. There was only one who could move freely in the encampment and knew that he cared about Shi Xueqin. It must be him.
“Young Master, do you know who this person is?”
“It can only be him.”
“So, what do we do? Shall I take men and rescue Shi Xueqin?”
Dragon Soul tossed the note onto the table and said, “They only want me to go. Are you trying to get Shi Xueqin killed?”
The subordinate dared not say another word.
“Alright, you just focus on your work. I will handle Shi Xueqin’s matter. Call over my secret guards,” Dragon Soul continued.
“Understood.”
The tail has finally shown itself, huh? Thought you could hide for long, Dragon Soul sneered coldly.
Shi Xueqin was captured by Su Zhanze and kept walking deeper into the dense forest.
Shi Xueqin gave Su Zhanze a cold glance and said, “You scoundrel, what do you want? Brother Longhun will avenge me.”
This girl was really quite naive; she actually knew nothing and said, “Have you always suspected that it was I who killed your father? Today, I can tell you the truth. It wasn’t me who killed your father, but the very Brother Longhun you keep talking about.”
“You’re spouting nonsense.”
Su Zhanze pushed Shi Xueqin, who had her hands tied, and continued moving forward, then said, “I think you’re really stupidly adorable, not even knowing the truth and yet daring to talk about avenging your father.”
“That Brother Longhun killed my father is something only you could come up with.”
Su Zhanze gave a cold laugh and said, “Then let me tell you why Longhun wanted to kill your father. I think you should know that Longhun and your father were always at odds. After the passing of Mutant Winged Dragon, your father became the Island Master of Dragon Slayer Island. He always refused to make enemies with people from the Demon Domain, and he wasn’t interested in avenging the folks from Mutant Winged Dragon’s side, which thwarted Longhun’s plans.
“As long as your father was in charge, Longhun could only be second in command. The Island Master had to be your father, and Longhun never got the chance to lead the Dragon Slaying Clan’s people into the Central Plains. That’s the reason Longhun killed your father. As long as your father was dead, he could become the Island Master and the leader of the Dragon Slaying Clan.
“He could also use the death of Shi Yin Zun at the hands of those from the Demon Domain as a pretext for revenge, and lead his forces into the Central Plains.”
“You’re making stuff up; I’d never believe your lies. Do you think I’m brainless?”
“I do think you’re brainless, because if you had any brains, you wouldn’t be so foolish. Today I’ll let you know the true facts. You still want to kill me, yet you’re cluelessly talking about avenging your father—who you don’t even know actually killed. It seems your brain has been kicked by a donkey.”
You’re the one whose brain is waterlogged, thinking you can use me to deal with Brother Longhun. That’s not going to happen.”
“Do you remember you have an elder martial brother named Ling Li?”
“Ling Li?” Wasn’t Ling Li already dead? Shi Xueqin thought to herself.
“Today, you’ll meet him. He witnessed everything with his own eyes, including who killed your father.”
Shi Xueqin couldn’t tell if this guy was telling the truth, but she did harbor some belief now.
In a dilapidated house, a large group of people gathered, led by Ling Li.
Shi Xueqin saw Ling Li and Ma Jun, and was so shocked that she couldn’t utter a word.
Ling Li rushed over and quickly untied Shi Xueqin.
Shi Xueqin said, “Brother, you’re really still alive.”
Ling Li, seeing his beloved, was overjoyed, of course.
Shi Xueqin asked, “Brother, how come you’re with this man?” She was, of course, referring to Su Zhanze.
Su Zhanze smiled and said, “Ling Li, you might as well tell this silly girl who actually killed her father and yours and also who had been trying to kill you. Don’t let her go on misunderstanding that it was me who killed her father. I don’t wish to be misunderstood.”
“Your father and mine were indeed killed by Longhun and Mo Ku,” Ling Li said.
Then Shi Xueqin looked up and said, “You’re saying my father was killed by Longhun? Impossible, absolutely impossible.”
“It’s true. For the sake of seizing the position of Island Master and the leadership of the Dragon Slaying Clan, Longhun had Old Du lure the Sea Demon, causing an intractable enmity between Dragon Slayer Island and the Demon Domain at the time, almost breaching Dragon Slayer City.”
Ling Li continued, “It was raining that day, and no one could withstand the frenzied Sea Demon. My father and yours, along with us, were preparing to hide in the rear mountains. Your father was injured at the time, but halfway there, we encountered Longhun and Mo Ku. They had it all calculated, knowing we would try to escape.
“At that moment, your father was seriously injured, and with everything in chaos, my father and the others were no match for Longhun. I personally witnessed Longhun killing your father; my father was also killed. I was fortunate to fall into the sea and not die. Perhaps the heavens wanted to leave someone who knew the truth alive, and that’s why I survived.”
“You’re talking nonsense; that’s not possible. Brother Longhun would never do something like this. You’re deceiving me,” Shi Xueqin couldn’t accept it.
“It’s true. I saw it with my own eyes. Longhun even sent people after me, but I managed to survive with great difficulty.”
“You must have been threatened by Su Zhanze.” Shi Xueqin couldn’t fully accept it.
Su Zhanze stood by, chuckling.
Ling Li went on, “No, there’s no need for me to lie to you, because among the dead, my father was also there. If Su Zhanze had killed my father, I definitely would have taken my revenge on him. But what I saw with my own eyes is that it was Longhun who killed my father, not to mention yours too.”
Shi Xueqin knelt down.
“I guess I’m the only one in the Dragon Slaying Clan who knows about this. For the past six months, I’ve been trying to practice martial arts and gather troops for one purpose—to seek revenge on Longhun one day.”
Shi Xueqin looked up, puzzled, “You want to kill Longhun, and you captured me to draw him out?” Shi Xueqin suddenly understood.
Ling Li said, “Yes, Longhun has many skilled fighters by his side. Only you can lure him out. This is the only thing we could do.” He didn’t deny it.
Shi Xueqin remembered some things—why Longhun was so convinced that her father wasn’t killed by Su Zhanze and his strange rants. Now, she understood, but she couldn’t accept it, couldn’t accept it at all. Why had things turned out this way?
Su Zhanze coldly said, “What a move, ‘killing two birds with one stone,’ seizing the leadership of the Dragon Slaying Clan and framing the Demon Domain. Truly a capable fellow,” he admired greatly in his heart.
Ling Li helped Shi Xueqin to stand, but her eyes had long been reddened by tears.
