Chapter 914 - 914 900 Moonlight Sword

Chapter 914: Chapter 900: Moonlight Sword Chapter 914: Chapter 900: Moonlight Sword “Aren’t you terrified at the thought of turning into something that’s neither human nor ghost, with no distinction between human and demon-monster?” Ye Chen tried to scare her.

Wan Danrong glared back at him.

“I really don’t want anything bad to happen to you,” Ye Chen said.

“I can take care of myself,” Wan Danrong said.

“Why are you so stubborn? You truly have no idea how dangerous it is.”

“I’m worried that you can’t take care of yourself.”

“You said before that once you were better, you would go back to the Wastelands, but now you’ve changed your mind.”

“The past is the past, now is now. If I run back to the Wastelands now, I won’t be able to settle down. I’ll definitely be very annoyed, so I’d rather stay,” she explained, seemingly because Guo Yuyun was no longer around to worry about, then added, “When I’m bored, I can keep you company for a chat, so you won’t be lonely and cold.”

“Do I look like the kind of person who gets lonely, cold, and needs someone to talk to?”

“I want to help Guo Yuyun keep an eye on you so you don’t go around flirting everywhere.”

“You think you can keep an eye on me? You might end up paying with yourself…”

A huge lake, its water clear, with birds flying all about; indeed, it was a lovely place. Many animals gathered by the water’s edge, some waterfowl chirping noisily.

Behind them was the most beautiful moment of the day, the sunset, which painted everyone red.

After cleaning the two water chickens and washing all the vegetables,

they finished preparing dinner as the twilight slowly began to fade.

“Dinner’s ready, old man,” Ye Chen called out.

Wan Danrong nudged him, saying, “That’s not very polite.”

“He’s used to it by now, he won’t mind me calling him that,” Ye Chen replied.

All the food was presented together, covering a large table. The wild chicken stew with mushrooms was indeed delicious, and with the addition of alcohol, the aroma completely volatilized, filling the yard.

Yang Tao’er called out, “Daddy, dinner’s ready.”

Divine Doctor Zhu responded.

Ye Chen said, “I’m sure there’s some aged wine around here.”

“Drinking wine?” Wan Danrong asked, puzzled.

“A couple of drinks to cheer everyone up,” Ye Chen suggested.

“But you’ve only just finished detoxifying,” Wan Danrong pointed out.

Divine Doctor Zhu came out holding a white bottle and said, “Who said he’s completely cleared of poison?”

After hearing this, Ye Chen said, “Hey, don’t set me up. I’ve been here for three days, and you said it would take three days to fix me up. You’re not thinking of keeping me here for another three days, are you? I can’t afford to stay.”

“I said it would take three days, but I never said the poison in your body would be completely cleansed in that time.”

“What does that mean?”

“It means you still have poison in your body, and it can’t be fully cleansed in an instant.”

“Then what have you been doing these past few days?”

“What do you think I’ve been doing?” Divine Doctor Zhu placed the white bottle in front of Ye Chen and said, “Even though I couldn’t immediately cleanse it, and I don’t know when it will be completely gone, this is a bottle of medicine. Take it daily on time, and with Tao’er accompanying you, if anything happens, she will help you.”

“What? You aren’t trying to ensure your daughter can’t marry off, leaving some poison in my body on purpose so I can never escape your clutches, are you?”

Yang Tao’er responded with a slap that landed on his arm with a smack.

“You can choose not to take it with you. If anything happens, it’s on you. If you go crazy and start biting like a rabid dog, that’s not my problem,” Divine Doctor Zhu said.

“Don’t try to scare me; I don’t fall for that stuff. I refuse to believe I could become like a rabid dog, biting people randomly.”

“Then you don’t have to take it with you.”

“I couldn’t care less about following him around,” Yang Tao’er said as she served Divine Doctor Zhu some soup.

Ye Chen glanced at Yang Tao’er and said, “Since she said that, I must make her follow me. If I get tired, I’ll make her wash my feet; if I run out of money, I’ll trade her for some silver.”

Wan Danrong replied, “Don’t worry, he’s not going to sell your daughter. I’m here, and I’ll keep an eye on things. You just relax.”

Ye Chen sniffed and tucked the bottle of medicine into his chest.

“Don’t underestimate this bottle of medicine; it looks ordinary, but it can enhance your power,” Divine Doctor Zhu said.

Out of curiosity, Ye Chen asked, “By how much can it enhance my power?”

“Heh, how much do you want to improve?”

“If it could help me defeat Shangguan Heiqi, that would be best.”

“I can’t guarantee that,” Divine Doctor Zhu admitted.

“Don’t pay any attention to this guy; he always looks for shortcuts, wanting to fly to the sky in one go,” said Yang Tao’er, snorting disdainfully.

“This mushroom chicken stew is quite good,” Divine Doctor Zhu commented.

Ye Chen poured him a drink and said, “Ah, I really should thank you. If it weren’t for you, I might not have made it through today.”

“Of course you should thank me,” Divine Doctor Zhu said, not modestly.

“Of course, whenever the time comes, and I bring a wife home for you, I’ll definitely satisfy you,” Ye Chen said.

Yang Tao’er glared at him.

Ye Chen quickly retracted a bit and said, “Your dad should have someone by his side. You’re going to get married eventually. When you do, should your dad remain alone? If you really care about your dad and want what’s best for him, you should find someone for him quickly. That’s what a filial child would do.”

“Why can’t you concoct some mute medicine to feed him, so he’d stop chattering nonstop like firecrackers, more annoying than a hen that’s just laid eggs?” Yang Tao’er said.

“Hurry up, let’s drink. Thank you for saving my life; it’s a debt I can never repay,” Ye Chen said as he toasted Divine Doctor Zhu.

“Just leave my ears in peace,” Divine Doctor Zhu replied.

Ye Chen sipped a cup of wine and said, “Divine Doctor, this journey I’m about to take is likely to be very dangerous. Of course, I’m more than willing to protect your daughter, but if she ends up with a scar and can’t get married, you can’t force her on me.”

“Just make sure no one gives her a scar,” Yang Tao’er said.

For Divine Doctor Zhu, his daughter had grown up and would eventually have to leave. She couldn’t follow him for a lifetime. Staying in this remote place was no longer suitable; it was time for her to venture out and become independent.

Suddenly, Divine Doctor Zhu became curious and asked, “How do you plan to deal with the Dragon Slaying Clan and Shangguan Heiqi?”

Ye Chen had thought about this question and answered, “I need to meet up with our people.” He was referring to Jiang Zhuge and the others, and he had also heard that Jiang Zhuge and his group were engaged in a tough battle with the Tianye Demon, possibly facing the danger of being trapped.

“Against the Tianye Demon?”

“Right, is the Tianye Demon more formidable, or is Shangguan Heiqi?”

“I’ve never compared them, but they’re both tough to deal with,” Divine Doctor Zhu said.

“Of course they’re tough. If they weren’t, the realm of immortals and demons wouldn’t need us to step in.”

“Longhun has joined forces with them, and now the realm is in complete chaos. You need to tackle it one step at a time,”

Ye Chen nodded slightly, as that was indeed what he had in mind. Longhun would need to be dealt with last; his greatest concern was whether the people of the realm could withstand the opposition. If they couldn’t, it would be a disaster.

Suddenly, Divine Doctor Zhu stood up and called out, “Come with me.”

Ye Chen looked at Divine Doctor Zhu, unsure of what he planned to do.

“Come help.”

“Are you going to give me some treasure?”

Divine Doctor Zhu walked towards a storeroom, which hadn’t been cleaned in many years, filled with dust and spiderwebs. The long box inside was heavy and its contents unknown.

Ye Chen crawled in and brought out the box, with quite a few spiderwebs clinging to his hair.

“What’s this thing?” The nails at the corner of the box were rusty.

“If I tell you to move it, just move it.”

Ye Chen muttered to himself, guessing that the box hadn’t been touched for many years, and wondering what kind of treasure it could hold.

He carried it to the courtyard.

Divine Doctor Zhu came over, blew off the dust in one breath, and the dust rose like mist. He carefully opened the box.

Inside was a greenish sword accompanied by another box. Ye Chen glanced at it. It didn’t rust, but it wasn’t particularly eye-catching. He had seen the Dragon Slayer Sword, which truly commanded awe. This sword seemed more suited for a woman to wear.

But the moment Divine Doctor Zhu pulled back the sword cover, the blade emitted a green light, like a bright lamp in the dark, illuminating the surroundings. It was unexpected that such a remarkable sword was contained in an old box.

“Moonlight Sword.”

Wan Danrong stood up and asked, “The Moonlight Sword of the Moonlight Fairy, how did it end up in your hands? Wasn’t it said to have been destroyed?”

How did that girl know about the Moonlight Sword? He had never heard of it.

Divine Doctor Zhu, holding the box and the Moonlight Sword, approached.

“Isn’t the Moonlight Fairy a woman?” Ye Chen asked.

“Yes, the Moonlight Fairy is a woman. What’s wrong, you don’t like it?” Divine Doctor Zhu replied.

“No way, how could I not like it? After all, it’s one of the three legendary swords from a hundred years ago, and the only one wielded by a woman,” Ye Chen said.

“I hope you’ll be able to use it,” said Divine Doctor Zhu.

“Give it to me.”

“What if I don’t want to?”

“How is that even possible? I’m just short of a sword,” Ye Chen responded as he grabbed it. Although it didn’t feel as great as the Dragon Slayer Sword, it was certainly better than having no sword at all.

“Maybe it’s fate that you can still find a use for it.”

“How did you come by it?” Ye Chen asked curiously.

“In her final battle, the Moonlight Fairy lost to the Tianye Demon and never recovered. My master treated her for several years, until the Moonlight Fairy passed away. After my master’s death, he left everything to me, including this Moonlight Sword,” Zhu explained.

Ye Chen became puzzled and said, “The Moonlight Fairy fought the Tianye Demon.”

“The Moonlight Fairy never defeated the Tianye Demon with the Moonlight Sword. It seems inauspicious to use this sword against the Tianye Demon, don’t you think?”

“Okay, if you don’t want it, I’ll put it away,” Divine Doctor Zhu said, pretending to take back the sword.

“Don’t, I was joking. Of course, having a weapon is better than none.”

“Then quit your grumbling!”
