Chapter 904 - 904 890 Passing through the Gates of Hell
Chapter 904: Chapter 890: Passing through the Gates of Hell Chapter 904: Chapter 890: Passing through the Gates of Hell Ye Chen’s thoughts were heavy, much like the rain tonight, which while not heavy, was piercingly cold.
The Red Demonic Spirit surely knew what he was thinking and said, “Speculating is useless. If you really want to help them, then first find a way to heal yourself.”
Ye Chen drank a cup of strong liquor, feeling like a ball of fire streaming down his throat. It was precisely this burning sensation that vaguely reassured him that his body was still his own.
“But it’s not all bad news, there is some good news that you should know about. The group of people from the Immortal City Sect who were captured have been rescued.”
Ye Chen looked towards the Red Demonic Spirit, seemingly still in disbelief.
“I’m not lying to you, your first love has also been rescued.”
Ye Chen chuckled and said, “Don’t talk nonsense, she’s not my first love.”
“Dare you say that Qing’er isn’t your first love?”
“Do you want a drink?”
“If I have a drink, who will take care of you if something happens?” The Red Demonic Spirit moved closer, smelling the aroma of meat, and nodded incessantly, “In this kind of weather, what’s more satisfying than hot pot and a drink?”
Guo Mingyu’s death shocked Ye Chen, and he admired him, but he knew that the Immortal and Demon realm must be in a terrible situation at this moment. The annihilation of the Sea Demon allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief. However, the current situation had him sweating coldly again. Shangguan Heiqi and Tianye Demon reappeared, definitely catching the Immortal and Demon realm off guard. His martial arts were still quite good, but even he was no match for Shangguan Heiqi. With Guo Mingyu gone, who else could deal with Longhun and Shangguan Heiqi, not to mention the Tianye Demon.
It was a cup of liquor down his throat.
“Don’t worry too much, that monkey won’t get married so soon. She will definitely cry for a few months. You better heal up quickly, and then the monkey will still be yours.”
Ye Chen gave a light smile.
The constant pitter-patter of rain weighed down his already heavy heart even more.
“Come on, let’s toast to your narrow escape from disaster, and hope you can make it through the night.”
Ye Chen smiled faintly again.
“Don’t look so worried. Maybe under Longhun’s rule, the mortal world will be even better.”
“For you, it doesn’t matter who rules the mortal world.”
“Mmm, that’s actually true. I don’t care who rules the mortal world.”
“Shangguan Heiqi and Tianye Demon certainly won’t let the mortal world have peace.”
“Aren’t you tired of this? Do you really think the mortal world can’t go on without you?”
Ye Chen took a deep breath and said, “That’s true, I’m just being self-important.” The scent of meat filled the room.
Everyone could sweat from eating.
“The street opposite seems very lively.”
“Have you taken a fancy to one of those brothels?”
“No, I just mean, I don’t know if you can hold on, so you should cherish the time.”
“If you really want me to not make it, then get me one, and I’ll die right in front of you.”
The Red Demonic Spirit giggled and said, “That’s true, considering your condition, giving you one would be a direct ticket to your death.”
Ye Chen took another gulp of the drink.
“Alright, that’s enough. Eat something, have some vegetables, it’s good for digestion.” The Red Demonic Spirit said, “Is there still energy in that box?”
“There should be some left.”
“If there’s none, just let me know. I’ll drain a few people, and that will definitely be enough for you.”
“Haha, at the cost of a few lives? I would never do such a thing.”
Ye Chen suddenly grew puzzled and asked, “With Guo Mingyu dead, who will take charge of the Immortal and Demon realm?” There definitely couldn’t be a lack of leadership.
“I heard it’s Lou Xuancheng.”
Ye Chen recalled this person, who was still rather upright and responsible.
The Red Demonic Spirit said, “Although he’s not the most ideal person, it’s good that it’s not Ren Xiongbei. I heard that Ren Xiongbei really wanted to become the Alliance Leader, but Hu Nanyue stepped forward to refuse. Having someone like him, who gave up Immortal City and only thought of fleeing, become the Alliance Leader would be utterly ridiculous.”
Ye Chen remained silent, continuing to eat his meal.
“Stop thinking about it. Heal your injuries first.”
Ye Chen was sweating profusely.
“Stop drinking, you really can’t have any more. If you die, I’ll have no one to make it up to the monkey for.” The Red Demonic Spirit moved the jug away.
The situation did not look good. Even if he could become the Alliance Leader, he had no confidence. If the Dragon Slaying Clan joined forces with Shangguan Heiqi and the others, that would be catastrophic. Without the protection of the Demon Palace, they could only fight a decisive battle now. But under these circumstances, how could they fight against the Dragon Slaying Clan? Just thinking about it gave him a headache.
“Eat and drink what you can. I think Lou Xuancheng won’t rush into a decisive battle either. Their decision not to immediately engage in a death struggle with the Dragon Slaying Clan is quite insightful,” sighed the Red Demonic Spirit.
“But all these are temporary, and we’ll ultimately have to face them.”
“Without you, the sun will still rise tomorrow.”
Ye Chen merely smiled faintly.
“As long as you can still eat, you’re alright. I’m afraid if you can’t eat, death is near.” The Red Demonic Spirit murmured.
After finishing the meal, Ye Chen began his recuperation with the Red Demonic Spirit supporting him, just in case anything unexpected happened.
Sweat continued to pour from Ye Chen’s forehead.
He felt like he was on a grilling rack. The Red Demonic Spirit wasn’t sure what to do and could only rely on him. He shook his head and said, “What kind of poison does this Ace Killer use, so potent?” He didn’t expect that even after consuming a divine pill, it was still tough. If he hadn’t had that pill, he probably would have died by now.
The energy within the box kept being siphoned, and the pressing issue wasn’t just the poisoning; he had also sustained serious injuries, which were truly the worst part. That shockwave had left him severely wounded, so in addition to suppressing the poison, he also had to heal himself.
The Red Demonic Spirit darted anxiously back and forth, worried about potential accidents; he had to make it through, he absolutely had to. As long as he made it through, he could live for another couple of days.
The Red Demonic Spirit could no longer sit idly; he too released energy to assist Ye Chen.
After much struggle into the night, Ye Chen spewed a mouthful of fresh blood, his body collapsing limply as if boneless, his clothes soaked through with sweat, leaving him with only a faint breath.
The Red Demonic Spirit hurried to take his pulse, and thankfully, the heavens were merciful, allowing him to survive the ordeal.
Gone was the night, untraceable.
The Red Demonic Spirit had worried through the night. When a weak voice came through, the Red Demonic Spirit rushed over and said, “You’re finally awake.”
“What time is it?”
“The sun has just risen.”
“Is it still raining?”
“No, the rain stopped in the middle of the night.”
“Then let’s set off quickly,” Ye Chen said as he straightened his clothes.
“Are you sure you’re up to it?”
“Heh, I certainly don’t want to die in this inn.” It seemed something was propelling him forward; he had to move on, there were still many things he needed to accomplish.
The Red Demonic Spirit promptly climbed aboard him, and to their surprise, when they opened the door to the inn, the coachman was standing right outside, which startled the Red Demonic Spirit; the coachman hadn’t run away after all.
With the coachman’s help, Ye Chen made it downstairs. After thanking the coachman, he sent him to prepare for the journey ahead and went to have breakfast on the first floor.
The previous night’s rainfall had left the streets outside damp and the air a bit chilly.
“You really scared me last night; I thought you weren’t going to make it,” the Red Demonic Spirit said.
“Were you afraid you’d be without company?”
“I was afraid of how I would explain it to Mother Monkey.”
“Hurry up and eat. How much longer until we arrive?”
“We should arrive by tonight, as long as no accidents occur.”
The carriage moved quietly down the tranquil streets. The Red Demonic Spirit curiously asked the coachman, “Coachman, why didn’t you run away last night?”
The coachman glanced at him.
“Don’t worry, I won’t drain you dry.”
“It’s probably because of the silver.”
“You value silver over your life?”
“Saving a life is more meritorious than building a seven-story pagoda,” the coachman said.
Ye Chen smiled faintly upon hearing this.
“Still, you have a conscience,” the Red Demonic Spirit remarked.
That afternoon, Guo Yuqing and her group were resting in a forest. She was talking with Guo Yuyun when someone informed her that Su Zhanze had arrived.
Hearing that name, she was again reminded of her father for whom she hadn’t even had the chance to say goodbye.
Calling out Guo Yuqing’s name, Su Zhanze rushed over.
Guo Yuyun glanced at her sister, knowing how difficult the situation was for her.
“So they really let you go,” Su Zhanze said.
To his astonishment, Guo Yuqing responded with a slap across his face. Without his saying they had indeed let her go, she wouldn’t have struck him.
Su Zhanze certainly knew why she had slapped him.
Guo Yuqing walked toward the forest, and Su Zhanze started to greet Guo Yuyun, but she ignored him, so he followed Yu Qing into the forest.
Suddenly, Guo Yuqing turned around and asked, “What did you just say? They let me go?”
“Yes, Longhun agreed to release you, and my mother was released as well, right?” Su Zhanze murmured.
“You’re beyond help,” she retorted.
Su Zhanze protested, “I had no choice. If I hadn’t done it, they would have killed you, my mother, and the other Immortal City Sect disciples.”
“We weren’t released by Longhun. It was Hu Nanyue and his people who rescued us.”
Su Zhanze was stunned.
“Don’t believe me? Then you can ask the others; they all know,” Guo Yuqing continued, “How could you do such a thing? Do you realize my father is dead?”
“I didn’t want you to be harmed.”
“How am I supposed to be with you after this? We cannot be together anymore.”
“What? Why not?”
“Why not? Every time I see you, I am reminded of my father. My father is dead because of a decision you made, and so are four of the eight elders, as well as a horde of Demon Palace disciples, leaving their children as orphans. And you still ask why?”
“No, please, I only didn’t want something bad to happen to you. If I hadn’t done it, they really would have killed you all.”
