Chapter 892 - 892 878 Desperate Situation
Chapter 892: Chapter 878: Desperate Situation Chapter 892: Chapter 878: Desperate Situation “What do we do when the energy runs out? Without it, there’s no way we can hold off so many black cube heads and the iron hammers of those Bull-horned Monsters,” Ye Chen said, “Sect Leader Fang, holding onto the energy now is useless. Without its assistance in setting up the formation, we wouldn’t even last until nightfall.”
Upon hearing Ye Chen’s words, Fang Ziren glanced around. The disciples from the Immortal and Demon realms thought that Gu Xueyun and Li Mo were abandoning them, and they showed signs of panic. Especially the Bull-horned Monster, with its murderous aura, was making them tremble with fear, close to collapsing. They had no fighting spirit left at that moment.
Fang Ziren calmed down a bit. Indeed, what’s the point of keeping the Energy Box if everyone dies? There would be no use for it. He decided to follow Ye Chen’s lead and shouted, “Form the formation!”
Ye Chen led the way; they utilized the energy from the box to arrange a formation, ready to defend it to the death.
Ye Chen had no clear plan and could only hope to hold out until after dark before figuring out what to do.
Elder Xi Feng, failing to capture his targets and those who had tried to escape, felt a great sense of unwillingness. He turned his attention back to the group inside the encirclement, intent on eliminating them. However, under Ye Chen’s coordination, a defensive formation had already been established.
“Don’t fool yourselves thinking that a Tortoise Shell Formation can protect you,” sneered Teng Yun’e, disbelieving, as he conjured a giant blade and struck down from the sky. With a loud bang, the blade hit the formation’s surface, but the energy from the box instantly repelled him. Those inside the formation were shielded by a net of energy from the box.
Ye Chen took the lead, in charge of commanding the top of the wall, directing the box’s energy, while Fang Ziren and others provided assistance from behind. The other disciples also released their own energy to help, forming a united front. Above them, a tortoise shell-shaped energy barrier flickered into existence, protecting them.
Teng Yun’e was repelled.
The Minotaur charged in, leaping high with the Sky-shattering Hammer raised overhead. It then fell like a meteor, the hammer, charged with lightning, leading the assault.
As if lightning had struck from the sky, a massive Demonic Spirit lunged forward. Watching the Demonic Spirit about to crash down, Ye Chen quickly took two steps back. Being the most lethal here, if he could withstand the hammer’s onslaught, the formation could arguably hold until nightfall.
Ye Chen, taking the initiative, bellowed, and two streaks of lightning formed into the image of a Dragon Head, charging towards the descending hammer.
Bang…
A blinding explosion, as if a divine tortoise released a surge of energy, blasted towards the incoming Sky-shattering Hammer.Ye Chen and the Minotaur had fought for a long time, but they had not directly confronted each other like this before. With the support of his comrades and the energy from the box, how else would he dare to intercept this lethal force?
With another loud boom, thunderous like the splitting of the heavens and the shaking of the earth, a shockwave exploded outward. After a standoff that lasted a few moments, releasing intense lightning, Ye Chen finally managed to sustain the blow, resisting both the massive impact and the thousands of pounds of force from the Sky-shattering Hammer.
The shock sent Shangguan Heiqi, suspended in mid-air, flying out, nearly causing him to fall. He struggled to maintain his footing, and everyone was taken aback by what had happened.
Even Shangguan Heiqi was startled, knowing few could withstand his hammer. However, he soon realized they had succeeded by the combined effort of many, which would have been impossible otherwise.
The other monsters, one after another, charged the formation. Ye Chen and Fang Ziren were not worried about the swarm attacking. In single combat, none compared to Shangguan Heiqi. If even he, with the Sky-shattering Hammer, couldn’t breach the Tortoise Shell Formation, how could these creatures do so with a few Fireballs? They were met with continuous explosions…
Ye Chen dealt with some who got too close, sending them flying with blasts.
It seemed the energy saved within the box indeed offered a lifeline. It was energy that Fang Ziren had collected over several years, precious enough that he was loath to use it. If it weren’t for Ye Chen’s advice, he wouldn’t have been willing to part with it. What could be more important than saving lives at that moment?
However, the energy would eventually run out; what then?
Shangguan Heiqi, Teng Yun’e, and even Elder Xi Feng launched several more attacks without success, each time being repelled. Elder Xi Feng realized something and said, “It’s the energy in the box that’s helping them.”
Shangguan Heiqi, Teng Yun’e, and their exhausted followers had been fighting all day.
“What shall we do?” asked Ace Killer.
“It’s fine, the box’s energy will eventually be depleted. It will decrease, and then we will have our chance,” Elder Xi Feng replied confidently.
“Don’t worry, just surround them and deplete their strength overnight. It’ll become especially evident,” with plenty of time on his hands, he refused to believe that anyone else would come to their aid. The two hundred who had fled posed no threat and would eventually be destroyed. “You’re all tired; rest for now. There’ll be plenty of time to play with them later,” he added.
Elder Xi Feng looked up at the sky, noting that darkness would soon fall. He was convinced they wouldn’t give up and feared others might charge in to help. They needed to rest too, for they still had to deal with them later.
Shangguan Heiqi agreed, “Alright, let’s just wear them down.”
“The energy in the box can’t completely save them. They’re merely prolonging their half-day existence. When it’s exhausted, it will be their time of demise,” Elder Xi Feng said firmly, convinced that they were trapped and had no way to escape.
“How do we deplete them?” Ace Killer enquired.
“Attack in waves, gradually. We outnumber them. They won’t be able to hold out against us,” Elder Xi Feng advised.
“Alright, I’ve been rushing in for a whole day; I just want to wipe them out and get the antidote quickly.”
“Don’t worry, as long as you fulfill the agreed terms, the antidote will definitely be given to you.”
Li Mo and Gu Xueyun had no choice, afraid they too would get caught up in it, they quickly took their people and fled. They were worried about the people trapped inside the encirclement not being able to hold on for much longer, so they watched from atop the mountain.
Gu Xueyun said, “They must be using an Energy Box, relying on the formation to hold on.”
“Energy Box, using the formation to hold on?” Li Mo was somewhat puzzled.
“This time our Sect Leader brought an Energy Box with him, which has been storing energy for several decades.”
“So that’s the case.” Li Mo breathed a sigh of relief.
But Gu Xueyun continued, “However, that’s only temporary. Sooner or later, the energy will be used up, and then we’ll have nothing left. By then we won’t be able to withstand the Sky-shattering Hammer of the Minotaur.”
Li Mo was at a loss for words after hearing this. Would they be able to rescue them tonight? What to do? They had so many people; how could they possibly save them? At this moment, they all seemed somewhat dispirited, unsure of what to do.
How could they rescue them? That was the most important thing. Nothing else mattered,
Gu Xueyun didn’t know what to do either. What could they do after dark? He truly didn’t know.
Li Mo felt utterly helpless and said, “Let everyone rest for now. Eat well; as for what to do, we can talk about it later.” He also told the people behind to prepare more black smoke, not knowing what else they could get ready.
Gu Xueyun couldn’t just give up like this, but at this point, how could they rescue them? Not wanting to give up was one thing, but whether they could save them was another matter altogether.
At this moment, they all felt a bit disheartened, not knowing what to do, and were extremely anxious.
The people following Ye Chen were nearly at the brink of collapse. They had never faced such a situation before, being surrounded tightly with no escape, they all were anxiously wondering what to do next.
Fang Ziren said, “Worst come to worst, we’ll just die together with them.”
His idea was to release the energy from the box and perish together with them.
But Ye Chen knew that the people of the Dragon Slaying Clan wouldn’t do such a thing, and the energy in the box was limited; it couldn’t kill that many people. Thinking about using the Energy Box to die together with them was too difficult.
“Ye Chen, what should we do?”
Ye Chen glanced at Fang Ziren and said, “Let’s wait until it gets dark before we talk about it.” Actually, he had no solution; he just didn’t want them to be disappointed so soon and could only say that.
Munching on dry food and drinking water, he had struggled the whole day. Those big fellows finally settled down a bit, which allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief.
“Realizing now how ordinary you actually are, aren’t you?” said the Red Demonic Spirit coldly.
“I’ve always known how ordinary I am,” Ye Chen responded.
“I thought you were unaware.”
“I know, I’ve always known,” Ye Chen said. His mind was a mess, especially seeing those disciples from the Demon Domain who were terrified. Nearly a hundred had perished, many were injured, some seriously.
The sky was getting dark soon. How to break out and coordinate with people outside was a big issue. But they only had so many hands; their opponents numbered more than twice their strength. If they were not careful, everyone might end up trapped in the encirclement and die there. Ye Chen was very clear about this and really didn’t want to see such a thing happen, but what could he do?
He was truly a bit lost and didn’t know what to do.
He had never felt so desperate, as if a path to certain doom was deliberately arranged for him.
“Regretting not consummating the marriage with the female monkey earlier, huh?” teased the Red Demonic Spirit.
“Can’t you give me a break for once?” Ye Chen shot back coldly.
“Maybe it’s time to really reflect on your life.”
Ye Chen ignored him.
