Chapter 839: Chapter 825: Deliver the Person in One Hand and the Goods in the Other Chapter 839: Chapter 825: Deliver the Person in One Hand and the Goods in the Other Rong’er fell into a momentary reverie.
“I didn’t deceive you, I spoke the truth. Right now, it’s not the right time to be together, we have to face the Dragon Slaying Clan, and there’s so much to be busy with, it’s truly out of necessity,” Ye Chen said.
“But what do you like about that girl?” Rong’er asked.
“Perhaps it’s her persistence, her persistence in me. If I’m with her despite all this, I fear I’ll regret it later.”
“That’s it?”
“Being together is quite lively, and that’s enough.”
“It is lively, enough to drive a whole street of people mad.”
Ye Chen nodded slightly and said, “That’s possible.” How could he not have thought about that girl, thought about what he liked about her? Of course, he’d considered it seriously, after all, she was so good to him.
Ye Chen continued, “After I turned thirteen, I lived like an orphan, surviving with the Red Demonic Spirit. If it weren’t for the Red Demonic Spirit’s help, I would have been no different from the beggars on the street. Actually, my requirements aren’t very high, someone decent is good enough, especially someone who’s good to me.”
“But I’m good to you too.”
“We’re back to this again. I’m afraid if we keep going around in circles like this, even by tomorrow, we won’t have this matter cleared up,” Ye Chen said.
“Why wasn’t it me you met first!”
Ye Chen smiled faintly and said, “You’ll find someone better than me.”
“That’s just like farting, no substance at all,” she said.
“I’m just a ‘fart person’, bringing you unhappiness, I really am sorry.”
“You have to give me a chance at least.”
“Can we not talk about this anymore!” Ye Chen was getting anxious, almost like an ant hopping around, wondering if Guo Yuyun would do something foolish.
An underling of Xishan Gui pointed at the girl ahead and said, “Boss, my eyes aren’t playing tricks on me, right?”
Xishan Gui chuckled, cursing the damn she-monkey that had unleashed the monster to bite him. If he hadn’t run fast, he wouldn’t be alive to speak. He said, “That’s the she-monkey.”
“She seems pretty angry,” said the underling.
“Whether she’s angry or not, that’s none of our business,” Xishan Gui said. He glanced around, making sure there were only three people and no other disciples of the New City Sect. Feeling somewhat relaxed, he asked, “Are the nets ready?”
“They’re all set, we’ll surround them from the front and back, no chance for them to escape,” was the reply.
“Let’s capture these two girls first.”
“We should enjoy them for a night and then make the exchange tomorrow,” drooled one of the men from behind.
“Exactly, how do you know exactly what’s on my mind?” Xishan Gui had the same intention. This she-monkey had always jumped the highest in every fight, surely because no man had put her in her place, otherwise she wouldn’t be so excited.
The assistant chuckled and said, “I think we should grab them just up ahead.”
“Alright, encircle them, front and back. Whoever lets them escape will have me to answer to,” Xishan Gui was already sharpening his teeth in anticipation.
Xuan Si followed closely behind Guo Yuyun and asked, “Yun’er, where exactly are you planning to go?”
Guo Yuyun didn’t speak, unsure of where to go.
“Can you stop for a moment? I really can’t keep up,” Xuan Si said.
“He’s just a big liar, and I actually believed his nonsense,” Yu Yun fumed.
“Maybe things aren’t what you think,” Xuan Si hesitated.
“How could it not be what I saw? They’ve already kissed.”
Xuan Si didn’t know what to say anymore. Not sure what to offer, she just wanted to curse. That damn monkey, why is she causing so much trouble?
“Can we stop and rest for a while?”
“You go back, I want to be alone and quiet for a while,” said Guo Yuyun.
How could Xuan Si leave her alone at a time like this?
Suddenly, a dozen people appeared in front of them.
“Xishan Gui…”
Xuan Si came to a stop as well.
“You leaping she-monkey, releasing monsters to bite me, huh? Let’s see where you can run to today!” Xishan Gui sprung forth with a Peng-like leap.
“Between the worlds of demons and evil spirits…” Xuan Si was ready to run away with Rong’er, but before they could turn, the dozen or so people behind them, each spreading their arms like crabs, immediately blocked their escape route.
Xuan Hong was prepared to lead the way out, but his mediocre martial arts were no match for three attackers, who swiftly pinned him down, rendering him useless.
Guo Yuyun immediately unleashed the Immortal Beasts.
Xishan Gui had anticipated this and also released monsters, and his were even larger than those summoned by Guo Yuyun.
“It seems they came prepared.” Guo Yuyun quickly realized they were likely planning to capture them in exchange for the ring and said, “Xuan Si, Xuan Hong, the two of you prepare to escape.”
Boom, boom, boom…
A dozen flying daggers slashed out, attempting to carve a passage on one side. However, they had brought no weapons with them, while Xishan Gui’s men were fully armed and ferocious, slashing and killing with gleaming swords and lights in an all-out bloodbath.
Xishan Gui focused on Guo Yuyun. Although Xishan Gui’s martial arts were not noteworthy, with the help of two or three individuals, Guo Yuyun found herself hard-pressed to compete.
Xuan Si’s martial arts skills were even worse, regretting that she hadn’t practiced more diligently. Suddenly facing over twenty people, all capable fighters, although she could take down a few, it was futile and she was clearly at a disadvantage with her acupressure points targeted.
Xishan Gui said, “Stop playing with them, catch them first.” He knew the New City Sect’s members must be nearby and didn’t want to disturb the people in the streets; he aimed for a quick and decisive battle.
Guo Yuyun leapt up and struck several palms at Xishan Gui, who was forced to keep retreating. However, his capable subordinates quickly steadied the situation, and she had to fend off several attackers. Their martial arts were not weak, and most importantly, they had numerical superiority.
Guo Yuyun attempted to break through on one side, but it was not as easy as she hoped. It was clear that they were well-prepared and had chosen this particular section for the ambush, knowing that it would be difficult for her to escape.
Guo Yuyun’s several attempts to escape were to no avail.
Xishan Gui said, “Trying to run is a dream; let’s see how you can get away. Aren’t you a she-monkey? See if you can leap over our heads like a kangaroo.” Yu Yun was so angry she could not speak and did not know what to do but wanted to blast him away.
But after seventeen or eighteen moves, she really found no way out and was quite exhausted.
Xishan Gui got exactly what he wanted; as long as she was tired, it would be easy. The fight had alerted the passersby, and Xishan Gui didn’t want to linger, so he called out, “Hurry up and spread the net, don’t let any of them escape.”
Seeing an opportunity, Xishan Gui gestured to several of his helpers on both sides, signaling to join forces. With Xishan Gui’s interference drawing Guo Yuyun’s attention, she was unable to focus when an unexpected strike from behind flung her out with a crash.
“She-monkey, don’t think of running today.” Seven or eight people surged forward, and even a monster would struggle to escape.
Ye Chen heard a fight ahead and, unsure of what had happened, hurriedly ran over, just in time to see Xishan Gui catching Guo Yuyun and Xuan Si, and heading his way.
“Those from the worlds of demons and evil spirits…” Rong’er muttered.
Xishan Gui was momentarily stunned but quickly recovered, relying on their hostages to face them without fear. He was much reassured and held a sword to the necks of Xuan Si and Guo Yuyun.
Xishan Gui knew he was no match for this brat’s martial arts, but now with hostages in hand, he had nothing to fear. He glanced at the youngster, who had only a girl by his side, giving him even less cause for concern.
Xishan Gui took the lead and said, “Brat, hand over your ring quickly, or I’ll slaughter this she-monkey.”
Ye Chen hurriedly said, “The ring isn’t in my hands.”
“If the ring is not with you, then in Kunlun Mountain, you ran so fast, are you trying to fool me?”
“We only ran fast because you were chasing us.”
“Kid, don’t babble here; I have no patience for your nonsense.” Xishan Gui didn’t believe the ring was not in Ye Chen’s possession. Killing one and capturing another still seemed a good deal to him. He turned and said, “Looks like I need to kill one to show you I’m not joking.” As he spoke, he raised his knife.
“Heh, let’s talk this over,” Ye Chen started to panic, hurriedly pulling a fake ring he had made from his bosom. The real ring, of course, he would never just hand over lightly. He suggested, “You want the ring, right? Fine, the ring is with me. We’ll exchange the people for the ring.”
Xishan Gui saw the shiny ring, unaware it was a fake, and somewhat admired this fellow for how easily he seemed to be coerced. It was impressive that he could force the ring out just like that. Xishan Gui ordered, “Hurry up and throw the ring over.”
Behind him, Rong’er, aware of the ring’s importance, but not knowing that Ye Chen’s ring was a fake, grabbed Ye Chen and said, “You can’t give them the ring. If you do, everything is over.”
Xishan Gui commanded, “You want me to kill one to open your eyes, is that it?”
“No, no, no… don’t get excited; let’s exchange the people for the goods.” Ye Chen turned back to Rong’er and said, “Even if we lose the ring, we can get it back, but if we lose our people, then we lose everything.”
Rong’er became anxious upon hearing this and said, “You just make sure you can get it back,” as she tried to snatch the ring from his hand.
Ye Chen quickly dodged away.
