Chapter 813 - 813 799 System Malfunction
Chapter 813: Chapter 799: System Malfunction Chapter 813: Chapter 799: System Malfunction Wan Danrong’s sudden arrival startled Guo Yuyun, who exclaimed, “Weren’t you supposed to stay with the main group of people? How come you’ve run over here?”
“I came to help,” said Wan Danrong.
Guo Yuyun snorted through her nostrils and said, “You’re not coming here to snatch away my husband, so what’s the rush for?”
Wan Danrong ignored her and had already caught up.
“You’re really afraid something will happen to us in the dungeon, that you even have the time to keep an eye on me,” said Guo Yuyun.
“I’m not, I’m just here to help,” she responded.
“What help can you offer? You might end up getting caught and thrown in with us,” Yun’er remarked.
Wan Danrong pouted her lips.
Ling Bo had already seen Tang Kun and the others; they were up ahead waving, signaling them to come over.
Ling Bo and his companions quickly made their way over. They didn’t say much upon meeting, fearing discovery, and quickened their steps towards the direction of the dungeon. Along the way, Tang Kun went through the plan once more, in case they had forgotten.
“First, we rescue your Sect Leader, then we go find the Wolf King.”
They found a secluded spot and changed into the jailer’s clothes.
Everything was essentially ready.
By now, the sky had completely darkened, and the streets were as bustling as they had been the previous two evenings, with many people walking about.
At this moment, Tang Kun was extremely cautious.
Rong’er followed closely behind Yun’er and the others. By now, it was impossible for her to go back; she had to be brought along.
“I know that dungeon is full of all kinds of creatures; you must stick close, or you might end up turned into a demon-monster,” Guo Yuyun said with a boyish intent to scare her.
“Turn you into a demon-monster,” Rong’er said with disdain.
“Worst case, you get changed into something neither male nor female—that would be terrible,” Guo Yuyun was still preoccupied with the events of that night.
As they moved forward, there were fewer and fewer pedestrians on the streets.
They hastened their pace.
He Shentong, having received analysis from Sha Ying, knew that if they just waited one more night, when the third brother returned the next day, much would be easier. By then, they could wipe out that whole group in one go. For tonight, as long as nothing went wrong, that would suffice. Sha Ying was indifferent to these matters; at this moment, the affairs within the city were primarily He Shentong’s responsibility.
Suddenly, a subordinate came running and reported, “The people from New City Sect have disappeared.”
“Disappeared, how could they have disappeared?” He Shentong asked.
“Don’t know; they entered the crowded street, and then we lost sight of them.”
“Were you guys just staring at pretty girls?”
The subordinate hung his head in response.
He Shentong shouted, “Then go find them quickly!” It couldn’t be; how could the people from New City Sect choose to act tonight? They were supposed to wait for the people from the Immortal Demon Domain to join them before taking action, weren’t they?
The disciple nodded.
Then another assistant came in and said, “The people from the Dragon Slaying Clan have also disappeared.”
Hearing this, He Shentong almost couldn’t believe it and stood up, as though he had calculated this possibility, and said, “No way, you’re joking with me, right? I really hope nothing goes wrong tonight.”
The assistant didn’t understand what He Shentong meant.
He Shentong muttered, “Impossible, the Dragon Slaying Clan and New City Sect aren’t on the same side; there’s no way they would join forces.”
“The people from New City Sect have disappeared too?” The assistant asked with curiosity.
Looking over, He Shentong felt bewildered but sensed something very strange.
The assistant suggested, “Should we inform the city lord?”
He Shentong glanced at the assistant.
Then the assistant added, “We should tell the city lord, so if something does happen, the city lord isn’t left in the dark; otherwise, we’ll definitely be punished.”
He Shentong thought there was some merit to this idea and said, “Fine, you continue searching, and I will go find the city lord.” It seemed there wasn’t a better option; he had to report the situation to the city lord.
Too bizarre; how could they possibly join forces? With just one group missing, they could remain calm, but now that both sides had vanished, it indeed was a major issue.
Ye Chen waited quietly, having already spent many days inside the cell; his clothes emitted the stench of dead mice, which was unbearable. He knew tonight was the night, as anxious as a bride on her wedding day, pacing back and forth.
The Red Demonic Spirit, on the other hand, was surprisingly calm.
“Can’t you stop pacing around in front of me as if you’ve never seen a groom before?” he said.
How could Ye Chen not be nervous, fearful of any unexpected events occurring?
“What’s the use of all this pacing to and fro?” the Red Demonic Spirit asked.
“Hey, can’t I just walk around a bit?” Ye Chen retorted.
“It’s getting on my nerves,” the Red Demonic Spirit said.
Guo Yuyun had already followed Tang Kun into the dungeon and it was surprisingly smooth, almost like going home, with almost no obstructions at all. She couldn’t quite believe how easily they got past the first gate.
But they still had a long way to go, as they were about to descend into the dungeon now.
The dungeon turned out to be very deep.
She didn’t know what was happening on the streets, but suddenly, fireworks went off all over the sky, which caught her by surprise. Ye Chen wondered if someone was getting married and having a celebration, otherwise why would it be so lively.
Ye Chen was stunned for a good while and said, “It’s made me so hungry I can’t help it.”
“I thought it made you feel like you were pregnant,” the Red Demonic Spirit said.
“There must be a lot of delicious food.” The fireworks kept bursting, as if it were New Year’s, and people couldn’t help themselves.
“Stop pacing around; it’s really making me dizzy,” the Red Demonic Spirit complained.
As they were talking, something happened, and there was a loud bang, as if an earthquake had struck, causing the entire dungeon to shake for quite a while. Ye Chen almost lost his balance and saw the energy of the Sealed Door flickering on and off.
Ye Chen looked over and asked, “Red Demonic Spirit, what on earth is happening, is it an earthquake?” He looked up at the ceiling, worried it might collapse, and prepared to run.
“Maybe it is a big earthquake,” she replied.
“No way, I don’t want to be buried alive here.” The dungeon continued to shudder and groan for a good while.
The energy of the Sealed Door became intermittent, and Ye Chen was somewhat stunned, feeling that the energy of the Sealed Door was missing in some places, which was strange to him.
Just then, Jing Po and his accomplices had succeeded in their plot, releasing the energy that Fox Immortal had prepared for a long time and had them bring in.
Ye Chen muttered, “It seems like the Sealed Door has been opened.” He reached out toward the gap in the energy of the Sealed Door. Usually, the Sealed Door would have released energy to repel him, but this time, it didn’t happen.
Then, they heard chaotic footsteps approaching, along with heavy breathing and the sound of iron doors being smashed open.
As a result, they saw five or six monsters, howling as they ran past.
Then, he saw the Wolf King flash by and thought he was dreaming.
“It seems like their dungeon system has malfunctioned,” said the Red Demonic Spirit.
Ye Chen nodded in agreement and said, “Our original plan certainly wasn’t like this,” wondering how the Wolf King had escaped.
“To hell with the plan, if we don’t get out now, do we really want to stay in this damned dungeon?”
Suddenly, the entire dungeon erupted into chaos, with thunderous noises echoing from exploding iron doors.
More and more monsters began to escape, and Ye Chen, with a single palm strike, blew open the unprotected iron gate. What was once made of refined steel was now as worthless as scrap metal without the Defense System, and the gate burst open instantly.
Ye Chen glanced ahead, seeing Longhun had also escaped from the dungeon, apparently with the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, chasing in the direction where the Wolf King had fled.
Ye Chen had no idea what was unfolding, but he was sure it wasn’t part of his plan. Fearing the Wolf King would be captured by Longhun, he quickly chased after him.
After a thunderous sound, no one knew what had happened, but the dungeon shook a few times and then fell silent. Then, they heard howling and the sound of fighting.
Guo Yuyun asked, “What has happened?”
Tang Kun shook his head, not knowing the answer himself.
They could hear chaotic and heavy footsteps getting closer, like an army crossing a narrow bridge, rushing towards them.
Getting closer now, it was clear they were heading for the exit, when a group of enormous beings appeared in front, coming their way, with many more following.
Tang Kun quickly led them aside.
“Is this part of our plan?” Guo Yuyun asked, as a large group of creatures charged past.
“It must be a malfunction in the dungeon’s system, letting those imprisoned creatures escape,” Tang Kun speculated.
Rong’er then called out, “Wolf King.”
As expected, the Wolf King charged past, followed by Longhun and the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox.
Following close behind, Ye Chen also ran over.
He was going after Longhun.
“What has happened?” Guo Yuyun asked.
“Don’t know, it must be a system malfunction,” Ye Chen shouted, “Hurry up and go, don’t let Longhun get the Wolf King’s Ring.”
Seeing Ye Chen running out, Guo Yuyun and the others didn’t need to continue forward and hurried outside as well, with the giant creatures that had escaped following them in a surge.
The dungeon monsters, like a tidal wave, poured out of the city gates, which, without energy protection, were unable to hold back the beasts within. The gates were breached in an instant.
Ye Chen also ran out.
Outside, it was complete chaos.
Guo Yuyun asked, “Did Longhun do this?”
Ye Chen looked around for traces of Longhun and said, “You’re still in the mood to ponder the cause.” What concerned him most now was the ring falling into Longhun’s hands.
Tang Kun commented, “It seems someone has made a more ingenious plan than ours.” Clearly, it was a grand plan to use the dungeon escapees to create chaos. “However, we must escape quickly, as this is surely only temporary,” he continued.
Ye Chen glanced at Ling Bo behind him and said, “Ling Bo, follow Tang Kun and take our people out of Sha Ying City first. I’ll go after the Wolf King.” The ring must not fall into Longhun’s hands.
